a;lskdfjalskj so I've been watching this season's anime and my favorite is Tales of the Abyss, of course. But Skip Beat! is a close second and I've been enjoying Kuroshitsuji. I started Early and Fairy last night as well.'s probably bad that I'm looking for more series to watch, isn't it?

ARASHI: Family First by Circe - Ever since I got sick with the death plague (and then an annoying cold, which thankfully wasn't quite so bad), I just haven't done much in my usual fandoms. I sat around and watched a lot of drama instead, which I got sucked into. So, for me to be pulled back (of course I'll always go back) it had to be something special. And this fic was absolutely it, because Circe does a wonderful job of writing the kind of family for Nino that you know he had to have had. I love both his mother and his sister, you know that they had to be strong personalities and yet so very awesome to produce someone like Nino and their teasing is FANTASTIC and I love love love her Nino POV because it shows his clinginess and tendency towards emo at times in a way that it would manifest and actually makes him a normal guy, not a stereotype of himself. It's brilliant and so, so, so much fun to read omg. (No warnings/pairings.)

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Sleep Talking by mellish - I remember this author from other fandoms, so as soon as I saw she had Avatar fic--with Sokka and Toph at that!--I totally bounded right over. And this is a darling fic, a simple concept of Sokka trying to fall asleep and it's not as easy as it should be, because too many things are always coming back to mind, so he talks to Toph across the campsite and somehow works things out. I love this fic because Sokka's attitude is so Sokka and yet his fears and worries are also so very like him. There's so much depth here, so much that goes through Sokka's mind, then somehow it just settles when talking to matter of fact Toph, who is also really awesome. It was a delightful read. <3 (This is gen, but if you like Sokka/Toph, you might like this, too.)

D.Gray-man: Like Dew upon a Thought. by allira_dream - I haven't read DGM fic in ages (or much of any fic in ages, really) but I came across a link for this one and asdl;kfjaslkj Kanda/Rinali, my weakness! And I really like the author's style, she has this pretty way with imagery and a pairing like this really benefits from that, all that dark hair and long limbs and fighter's attitudes, all set through Ravi's eyes in a really delightful, lovely piece. <3 (Kanda/Rinali, I'd rate it a light R or so.)

Kamen Rider Den-O: Waltzing Odebu by ellipsisbandit - The other day I was on YouTube to look for a clip of Yuuto's transformation sequence and then I started watching other clips of Yuuto's scenes and it was awhile before I could drag myself away. Because Yuuto is what really sold me on Den-O, he is so completely inside my wheelhouse of character types and this fic both came along at the right time to feed into that and does a delightful job of capturing the Ryoutarou/Yuuto/Deneb dynamic. Plus. Yuuto (and Ryoutarou) trying to search for an Imagin contract holder at dance lessons. It was made for hilarity. XD (Implied Yuuto/Ryoutarou if you want to see it.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: spoken lullabies by surestsmile - You know, while it's not my OTP, I find myself really surprisingly fond of Tsuna/Kyouko sometimes. They're so sweet and adorable together, even if she does look just like his mom. So when I find a well-written, lovely fic that touches on all the hardships in Tsuna's life in the future, but still retains that sweet, gentle atmosphere for the two of them, I love it. This is so sweet, but not sickeningly so, instead it's just right for these two. *adores* (Tsuna/Kyouko.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Dying by installments by izkariote - a;lskdfja;lskj why do I keep reading D18 fic that has this much angst? Somehow, I just seem to be attracted to that type of pairing, I suppose. That or I'll give just about anything with these two a shot. But the writing is lovely and what I especially love is that the author makes it hurt more by not overdoing it. It's subtle and quiet, even when Dino is not, the sense of history and things unsaid between them painful for both of them, so close to something happier, but not not something they can grasp right now. It's kind of a painful look at a future for them, but has lovely writing and apparently will get a fix it at some point in the future. ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS. :D So, it's definitely worth a read, I think. (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Simplicity by vicious_lullaby - Oh, man. As much as I can sympathize with anyone who is frustrated by the REBORN! girls or understand criticisms of them, I still adore them anyway. And I have adored Haru and Kyouko's friendship so much since they were tossed into the TYL timeline and this fic does a gorgeous job of showing what's so lovely about them in the future. I love how it focuses on the girls of the series, how they do what they can and Bianchi's hardcore awesomeness even in the background and just. as;ldfkjaslkj I loved this. (No warnings/pairings.)

Kingdom Hearts: here in the night, I see the sun. by allira_dream - I have this fondness for Riku/Kairi and I imagine a lot of it is because Riku's my favorite (he is often my type, after all XD) but part of it is a certain something that I can never quite put into words. This fic captures a lot of that same sense, that connection that could be there, the certain something they understand, partly about Sora and the three of their connections to each other, but partly just them. Whatever it is, this fic is lovely and I adore Riku for being so... Riku without the author taking it too far or making him too emo or Kairi too cheerful. Instead, they're both almost sort of just... quiet and it works really well. Lovely. <3 (Riku/Kairi.)

Nabari no Ou: Prayer by Hearii - After finishing Nabari no Ou the other day and having gone through many of the fanart sites for it already, I started cautiously poking at FFNET (because I wasn't aware of any authors I knew who'd written for it) and stumbled over this piece. It's a short one, more about the imagery and the atmosphere and Miharu's emotions as he sits in the snow while Yoite is gone. It's simple, but lovely. (I guess it could be implied Yoite/Miharu.)

Nabari no Ou: befriending a killing machine by surestsmile - You know, I don't know if I would have sought out fic for Yukimi and Yoite (but neither would I have avoided it) on purpose, but when I happened to stumble over it... it's a really nice little piece. I adore the Yukimi characterization here as he gets to know Yoite better and can't help coming to care about him as a friend, even when he probably should know better. And the writing is lovely and it's a charming little piece. (No warnings/pairings.)

Tales of the Abyss: Just This by Cephy - Oh, why, hello there. *__* With the anime airing, I've been itching all over again for ToA-related stuff, especially for this particular favored pairing of mine. I'll be honest, I didn't expect to find much. But this short fic was really kind of breathtaking for being just what I wanted--Asch's issues, his crazy plans, the way he can't stay away from Natalia, the way she doesn't just let him slip through her fingers if she can help it, all in addition to smut. It's light, I wouldn't rate it much more than an R or so, but it's wrapped up in Asch's reactions to her, you can feel how much he wants this, how much he wants her, how much he cares and needs her and it's just. as;dlfkjas;lkj yes plz. (Asch/Natalia, R-rating.)

Tales of the Abyss: eating keterburg ice cream by surestsmile - Oh. There are not a lot of fics I would be willing to read from Guy's POV pre-series, because it would be such a tremendously tricky thing. But this short little fic, such a simple concept, eating ice cream with young Natalia and young Luke, is kind of breathtaking for it. So much anger and bitterness, yet with the charming smile over it that doesn't let any of that to the surface, yet still... Guy, who is still a good person. It's both an adorable fic and a heart-breaking fic, the mood of the piece just what the author was going for. (No warnings/pairings.)

Webcomic: Fallen Moon - I was browsing devART for... well, I don't remember now, probably Avatar art or something, but stumbled across this artist's work and was struck by how gorgeous her original stuff was. I clicked out of curiosity, seeing that she had a webcomic. Well, if her art for it was this pretty, I wanted to give it a shot. And it honestly took me about three pages into this webcomic to totally love it. The art is lovely and I really like the site it's set up on, the flash animation with the falling snow really set a cool atmosphere and the colors are gorgeous, the kind that nearly glow, and it took me all of five second to fall for the main girl. Even the clothes on the characters are gorgeous. *__* The only downside is that it's very short so far, hardly more than one full chapter has been done so far, but it's just. It really delighted me, so I had to recommend it anyway. And, hey, on the bright side, the artist does a lot of art dumps for the comic, which gets some gorgeous stuff. (No real warnings/pairings.)

Webcomic: Honeydew Syndrome - Admittedly, I've wandered away from this comic once the focus was taken away from Josh and Metis, but this webcomic is still one of those rare ones where it created some sort of magic that actually got a fandom going for it. I've done a handful of fic recs already (and intend to do more as soon as I get my attention span back) and I sat and read through the entire storyline in a single night because I just. Could not stop reading. It's cute and charming and whatever faults you could potentially find with it are--at least for me--overshadowed by how much I simply had fun with it. I laughed in the right places, I was intrigued by the characters, I liked the sharp dialogue, I liked the two boys falling in love, I liked the way their relationship progressed, I just liked all of it. It's the kind that stayed with me as well, enough that I sought out fandom for it! And I'd love to see, like, some fanart sometime, too. Even though I really like the art style of the comic, it's just sketchy enough to be interesting, just pretty enough to keep me happy. It was a delightful read, I totally want more people to get into it. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Avatar: The Last Airbender - Water Trube AU Comic [ English Fanart Site ] - GenX pointed me towards this comic the other day and mentioned how addicting it was. I wasn't really sure what I was going to make of it or what I was going to find and it's not like Zhao was ever a character that I was that interested in. But it is addicting, the artist has done a lot of really interesting world building and a lot of really excellent details (while still keeping her own style) that make it fit with the Avatar universe and the Water Tribes in particular, while still spinning off something new of her own. It's kind of really need and it's very long and easy to get sucked into and have read fifty pages before you even realized it. Very cool. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Gurren Lagann - Hinakick Web [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I'd previous recommended this site for other series (HP, Eva, FFVII, OP, I think), but the further I got into the galleries, the more I started finding art for other series. There's a page of Gurren Lagann art that's fabulous and maybe not a ton of it, but each one is so wonderfully done, so on a professional-looking level, that you don't really care. There's some wonderful stuff with Kamina and Simon just off having adventures and fun, then there's an adorable one with Yoko and Nia, and HOLY CRAP is the one of Kamina and kidlet!Simon and kidlet!Rossiu SO FREAKING CUTE. The artist also does the same thing here she does with nearly everything else--Simon/Rossiu is not a pairing that would occur much to me, but I'm eager to pounce on her images of them because they're still totally worth it. Most of the art leans more towards gen and, as long as you stick to the Gurren Lagann stuff, it's pretty work-safe (with one or two exceptions, which you might have scroll quickly past), so I really liked this site. (Mostly gen, but some Kamina/Simon that's really probably gen, a little Simon/Rossiu. Not entirely SFW.)

- Harry Potter/Shin Seiki Evangelion/Final Fantasy VII - Hinakick Web [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - How did I miss this site before? I suppose I don't really go looking for Harry Potter fanart that often (and when I do, it's usually of the Sirius/Remus variety), but I was link hopping today and came across this link, with the gorgeous art here. It's really stunning with absolutely everything--gorgeous colors, gorgeous details, gorgeous lines, gorgeous poses/concepts for each image, some of them are the kind you just want to sit and stare at for a full five minutes because you want to catch everything. The Eva art isn't as frequent, but it's some beautiful Kaworu (and Shinji) pieces and I really had to rec it for those. Then there's the FFVII stuff with the beautiful Sephiroth/Cloud and like that didn't totally make my day. ♥ I was already here for the other series and really enjoying them, but then gorgeous SxC art, too? Yes plz. Sephiroth especially looks amazing. *__* This is the kind of site where I had to fight not to rec each series separately because they each deserved it. Amazing stuff here. (Tom Riddle/Harry for HP, some Kaworu/Shinji for Eva, some Sephiroth/Cloud for FFVII. Not entirely SFW.)

- Nabari no Ou - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There isn't a lot of art here, but I kind of got sucked into the site anyway because OMG KOUICHI ART EXCELLENT. I've seen pieces here and there of him, of course, but this site centers around him a bit more than most--and while the art isn't perfect all of the time, there are a handful that a really kinda cool looking and I would love to see more from this artist. There's one of Kouichi and Shijima that's especially well-done and worth visiting the site for alone, I think. So, a nice little site to further round out my collection of Nabari sites, which is all I ask. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

- One Piece - Hinakick Web [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I know I said I wasn't going to rec each series separately from this site, but... well, I'm a little weak. Especially since there's more OP art here than I thought. And it really deserves its own rec. The artist does the same thing here she's done with most of the other series I've looked at on her site--she takes a pairing that's not one that really occurs much to me (though I can easily see where it comes from) and makes me interested because the art is just so damn gorgeous. I originally came here for the HP art, but got caught up in her stunning Lucci/Kaku art that's just. The colors shine and the details are amazing on every single image and the lines are so slick and clean and her animal forms for the CP9 are just. as;ldkfja;lskj wow. There's a lot of impressive variety here, too--from the sexualized stuff to the cuddly stuff to the sleepy morning in bed stuff to the kick ass action poses stuff to the super cute little baby Kaku. Totally worth going through even if the pairing isn't your thing. ♥ (Some gen, some Lucci/Kaku. Not entirely SFW.)

- Professor Layton - HB [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Holy crap, that is some damn fine Layton art right there. To the point that I spent the first several page scrolls wondering if I'd stumbled over the official site at first, because the artist just completely nails the canon style. But, well. I'm fairly certain the official site wouldn't have Don Paolo in Flora's dress. Fairly certain. And the site is just. Oh, man, it's so much super cute art and there's a lot of it and I just want to keyboard mash over absolutely everything. The colors and style of it are so warm-hearted and delightful and quirky that it really brings to mind the original game and makes the wait for the second one to come out in English that much easier. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Tales of the Abyss - C+holic [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There is not a lot of art on this site, maybe a dozen images or so, but they're so totally my speed that I had to recommend them anyway. The colors are those bright, vivid, jewel-tones that practically glow on the screen (I'm weak, okay?) and the lines are clean and sharp and lovely. The illustrations are adorable, the one of Guy with little kidlet Luke with wings is lovely and so is little kidlet Luke in a yellow raincoat playing in puddles after it's rained. Such pretty colors, but also the AWWW SO CUTE reaction that it gets from me. I can't ask for more than that. XD (No warnings/pairings, not really.)

- Tales of the Abyss - Local/Guild [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Sometimes I am kind of easy when it comes to ToA art, especially when the site has a series of images or does some super-cute chibi stuff. Which this site has both of--the first link I clicked onto in the gallery was a series of calendar images with various characters being cute with each other. Then there's an illustration of a great big present box with the chibis spilling out of it. And then there's a cute Luke/Tear Halloween image. And it's just. Fun! The artist occasionally does some really solid work, she has some nice colors and a really nice diversity of characters. The artist gets better and better as she goes along as well, so it made for a nice little site this afternoon. ♥ (No warnings/pairing themes, not really.)
