SHARING TIME:
So, earlier today. Just for curiosity's sake. I decided to calculate how many recs I would have to do every day to meet my crazypants goal by the end of the year. I'm not quite at 900, so that'd leave about 700 to go. In less than two months. So, I figured out the average I would have to maintain. ....f-fourteen a day. And that was the same number I had to do every day last year, for about this many days.

Wh-which means. My crazypants goal is not as far out of sight as I thought it was. It means that it's possibly doable. If I really stick to it. ......... *s-sobs* And if I could do it, Meg promised to write 500 words a day on her projects and OH GOD I'M REALLY GOING TO DO THIS, AREN'T I?
AND ONTO THE RECS:
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - 4 Fanfics
    NCIS - 1 Fanfic
    Soul Eater - 1 Fanfic
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - 3 Doujinshi
    Odin Sphere - 1 Fanart
    Professor Layton - 1 Fanart
    Professor Layton/Foster's Home - 1 Fanart
Tales of the Abyss - 3 Fanart
2008 GOAL: 900/1602

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Opposites Attract by vicious_lullaby - as;dlkfja;lskjalkj ahahahahaha, this is such a relatively simple concempt--Gokudera has finally lost it and is explaining positive and negative forces being attracted to each other--but because the author has the deftness needed to make it actually humorous, I think I was either laughing or grinning like hell the entire time. I loved it, because it's so Gokudera, who is so smart and yet so not subtle and yet Tsuna, who still has good instincts, is kind of mystified by him and it's just as;lkdfjalskj the author totally pulls it off. ♥ (Gokudera/Tsuna.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: The truth of it is by demoerin - You know what I don't get to read enough of in the REBORN! fandom? Bianchi and Gokudera. I don't look for it that often, but I don't see it pop up all that often, either, which is a shame because I love the siblings. And this was a solid story about the events of TYL, about how Bianchi reacted when finding out that Reborn was dead and how Gokudera handled that and how painful it was for both of them. I like it because Bianchi kind of got shafted by the Millefiore/TYL storyline and I'd like to see more of what she went through in that time, so this fic filled a little bit of that lack nicely. (A little implied Reborn/Bianchi, but on the level of canon. It's not really the point.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Two Billion Light-years of Solitude by Asael - Apparently, today is Mukuro/Hibari day. I am totally not complaining. This was an interesting fic, while I thought Hibari was a little less confrontational than I might have made him, I also felt like I could buy it because somehow that's how it would go with these two dangerous people. Because they are kind of similar in many ways. But what I really loved about this fic is the atmosphere the author created for Mukuro, the sensory deprivision and illusions and the imagery that he (and the author) weaves around himself, lovely but something just a little hollow about it. It fit the character really well and this was a really lovely look at these two. Oh, also! I really adored Mukuro's feelings towards Chrome, the gentle sort of affection he has for her in his own way. That felt very spot on to me. (Mukuro/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Know The Other, Know The Self. by allira_dream - I continue to have this fascination with Hibari/Chrome. I'm not sure why. They just intrigue me. And that interest in them continues to grow every time I read something like this, where Hibari and Chrome don't precisely hit it off so much as they don't antagonize each other, they are both comfortable with the silence they both have. I love how lethal they both are here, how dangerous and yet beautiful the situation around them is here, the words are lovely to read. And the way Hibari reacts to her is just. as;ldkfjaslkj yes. A beautiful little fic. (This is purely gen, but if you like Hibari/Chrome, you may like this.)

NCIS: NCIS Snapshot, Post SWAK by Pru - Little by little, the NCIS fandom isn't so bad anymore. And this was a nice piece to read this morning, set post-SWAK and I can buy Gibbs' reactions (that are a lot louder and more vocal than usual) because it's both set off-screen (and I love the way the story floated back to the narrator) and because it's set after the episode where Tony very nearly died from the plague. And I really liked what Pru did with the narration here, setting it from the POV of an original character who is very clearly a stand-in for all of us, someone to watch from the outside and make observations that way, and it worked really well. This was a delight to read. (This is sort of gen, sort of Gibbs/DiNozzo.)

Soul Eater: Resignation by Nanaki BH - I've been waiting forever to read more Stein/Spirit fic. As much as I love Soul Eater for the canon, I get enough of canon out of the canon. (....shut up. XD) Well, mostly anyway. So what I really wanted was Stein/Spirit that was rough around the edges, not entirely something nice, something with a little anger and something darker in it, and this fic gave me that rather nicely. Stein's not really a nice person, even when he obviously cares about Spirit, the scientist part of him not entirely quiet when he wonders about certain things or misses the sight of Spirit's blood. Plus, omg, porn for the two of them! I was beginning to think fandom would hold out on me forever. And it was very nice porn at that. ♥ (Stein/Spirit, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Lovela! - This is another series of stories that seem rather disjointed and almost like I'm maybe missing something from them, but I think they're just meant to be short little ficlet-style doujin stories rather than anything else. So, taken in that spirit, these are really fun and just delightful little moments with Dino and Hibari. The art might not be for everyone, but if you're as much of a j-fanart junkie as I am (and I'm sure I've seen this artist's work before), it's interesting to look at. Plus, it has Hibari and Romario sharing an indirect kiss, Dino sulking about it, and Hibari being so flat and direct about it. asl;dkfja;lskjk I love these two ridiculous amounts. ....I've been subtle about it, I know. >__> (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Haru yo, Koi - ;alksje;lkajs there are times when I just love this fandom so much that I feel like I could explode with it. And reading this doujinshi is one of those times. It's got some really big scans and the art looks kind of simple at first, but because of the resolution of them, you can see all the detail that actually went into the pages, they really look kind of fantastic once you open it up and start reading. The artist's Hibari is especially fantastic, she totally does a fantastic job with those intense eyes of his and there are some amazing panels, like when he's ready to walk off from where the car stopped, it's almost kind of chilling, the look on his face. But then there's also the humorous side of things, when Hibari says something that's almost sort of nice, THE LOOK ON HIS FACE as Dino gives him a flying tackle hug! The picture of Romario taped to the car's window so Dino won't drive off the road like a klutz! a;sldkfja;lskj I LOVE IT. Cute/fluffy and it made me laugh and Hibari was kinda really hot in some of the panels. I'm happy again. *__* (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Tangled Line - For as much as I love Mukuro/Hibari, it doesn't get that much attention in fandom, which is too bad (not that I'm complaining about other pairings being popular, mind ♥) because they can be really, really smoking hot together. And what I love about this doujinshi is that the artist's style works really well with the pairing, especially TYL. It's got a high amount of contrast (which is probably helped along by the scanslation team, who did a lovely job with the way this doujinshi looks) and it looks sharp and slick, both Hibari and Mukuro looking really hot TYL. The storyline is fairly standard--Hibari is still looking for a rematch even after all that time, but it's a standard for a reason. *__* It was a light, enjoyable read that reminded me of how much I love this pairing. (Mukuro/Hibari.)

- Odin Sphere - Moment [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - So, I was browsing through azira_e's delicious links and wandered over to her Odin Sphere section and started clicking through the links. Now, if this had been for probably any other series or if I'd recently been through a lot of other Odin Sphere art, I don't know that I would have stuck around very long on this site. But it's been ages and I really, really wanted more art. So, this site won't be for everyone, but I'm honestly enjoying it, the scribbled art and comics are cute, the colors are soft and pretty, and the artist gives a good amount of variety to all the main characters. There's a lot of art, especially of the oekaki-style variety and... I'll admit, the further I got into the site, the more I came to genuinely like it and really wanted to see more from the artist. They started doing some really pretty things with color and playing around with concepts/poses and just. It was a nice little site. (All of the main canon pairings and some gen.)

- Professor Layton - [ English Fanart Site ] - There's not as many illustrations on this post as I usually rec, but I don't care because a;sdlkfjaslkjaslj I am greatly intrigued by Claire already and this art of her is gorgeous. She looks so stylish and classy and awesome that I think I'm already in love with her. And I know the artist isn't as fond of Flora as I am, but! She drew a lovely, adorable Flora as well! In a swimsuit. ♥ And it's really amazing how well this artist just nails the canon style, I could look at her art forever. ♥ (....eh. Eh. Idek how to label this one. Some Layton/Claire and some other and some gen, I guess.)

- Professor Layton/Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends - [ English Fanart Site ] - Okay, so. Foster's is not a series I go looking for art from very often. I've done a search or two on devART and never managed to hit on much that really caught my attention. But I was looking for Layton fanart and then this artist also had some Foster's stuff and it's really kind of totally awesome stuff, slightly different styles and a lot of the background characters (like Eurotrish or Chuck or Bendy) or the main characters (a;lksdjfalskj Bloo being cute or Eduardo with the pink elephant or Madame Foster on the skateboard, awesome), it's all just really great stuff. The Layton sketches are adorable, they're a bit rougher than some of her other work, but they still capture that sense the game had and I love the morning routine stuff and older Luke and Flora being cute and--! ♥ (No warnings/pairings for either.)

- Tales of the Abyss - TOM [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - When this artist puts their mind to it, they can do some really cool and pretty stuff. There's a lot of scribbly art or obviously cracky/non-serious art on the site, but if you poke through the galleries long enough, you'll find a decent amount of genuinely pretty art. I really love the colors, they're bright and vivid, just the kind of thing I'm weak to, and the artist uses the softener filter just often enough and just lightly enough that I'm weak to that, too. XD You can kinda tell the artist's favorite is Luke, who looks especially good and gets some adorable images drawn for him, which I'm totally fine with. Just a light, easy, fun site to further my ToA obsession. XD Especially the artist's doujinshi covers, they're kinda gorgeous. *__* (Some Guy/Luke, some gen.)

- Tales of the Abyss - KERO MAX [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site pretty much took only one click, on to the most recent image, to sell me on the site. A gorgeous Tear fanart that had those bright, vivid, nearly glowing colors that I love? That was part of a tarot card series of illustrations? SOLD. The site went even further to sell me by having some really pretty Luke/Tear fanart, which I was totally in the mood for this morning. I mean, I would have loved this site even without that, but it definitely totally put me over the top with this artist. The lines are so clean and detailed, the coloring so soft and pretty, and just as;ldkfjasl;kj this is the stuff I'm weak to, shut up. The earlier stuff is a little weaker, but you can see the progress from the artist and asl;kdjl holy crap do I want more from them. *___* (Some Luke/Tear, some gen.)

- Tales of the Abyss - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I really went back and forth on this site for awhile, because I know I'm biased by being in a Luke/Tear mood this morning, but I imagine this site will largely only appeal to those who are already fans of the pairing. Not everything was working for me, but then some other illustrations would just be super cute and fun and I wanted to share. At any rate, it was enough to keep me going through the site until I hit a really surprisingly pretty illustration of Anise and Arietta that's all soft pinks and whites on a black background and a;sdlkfjalskj so pretty. So, I eventually had to cave. It's cute and fun! I enjoyed myself. That's more than enough, you know? ♥ (Luke/Tear, some gen.)

Thanks for the link to the Soul Eater fic! That's a rare pleasure to find. I'm saving that as a reward to read later, if I get all my other stuff done. ^_^

You're welcome! It's good to know there are still Soul Eater fans out there, since it seems like it made a big splash and then kind of got lost in the shuffle of everything else premiering lately. ♥

There is Kurosagi fic and a bunch of Nobuta you might not have seen yet, my particular (and totally unbiased) favorites being [livejournal.com profile] jain's stories. <3

Oh, thank god for REBORN!, there's no way in hell I'd be able to even come close without that fandom chewing on my brain cells. (I don't think I've ever seen a fandom reach a fever pitch quite this fast before.)

And a;sdlfkjaslkj NOBUTA FIC EXCELLENT. ♥ (Shamefully, I have yet to watch Kurosagi yet. I fail at being a JE fangirl, I know. orz)

God Reborn. LOL I think Reborn and One Piece are the two things currently keeping me in animanga at all. HOW CAN I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. XD

LOL I am surprised you haven't seen Kurosagi considering it is Yamapi and Maki together again, but for the record, I've only seen bits and pieces of it myself particularly the episode where Koyama guest stars and is super gay with Pi .

REBORN! is the only manga fandom I've stayed consistently with the last year or so and, hell, it wasn't even until recently that I got back into watching anime at all. (I blame the Nabari no Ou anime. SO ADDICTING AND SO GAY.) I do miss the One Piece fandom, though, but it seems like it's gotten really quiet?

W-well, I kind of fail as a Yamapi fan. I love him utterly, but I think I've only ever seen the one drama of his. (On the other hand, I've only seen, like, four or five of Jun's dramas and so drama watching is clearly not a factor of how much I do/don't love someone. XD)
