ARASHI: untitled by Circe - One of my favorite things about fandom is still when authors take a recent event (like the baby episode of Shukudai-kun) and write little snippets based on them, especially backstage antics. And I love Circe for the way it's not necessarily a usual trio (Nino, Sho, and Jun here) but it's so comfortable and perfectly easy to see the way she writes it. And I love her Sho/Nino dynamic, I love that Nino just sits there and plays his game while Sho dotes on him and Jun tries very hard not to lose his mind, I love that I grinned the whole way through this, and I love the ending. I will want to read Circe's Arashi fic FOREVER. (No real warnings/pairings.)

ARASHI: untitled by waxrose - And this time it's waxrose and she's writing a snippet based on the Mannequin Five segment from Himitsu no Arashi-chan and al;sdkfjasl;kjs I love the little details that went into this. The clothes she had each of them choose (Nino's totally put a smile on my face) and I love that it's centered on Sho and Jun here, I love Sho's comment to Jun and Jun's dangerous aura and I definitely love the way this ended. It was delightful and easy to see and just. a s;dlfkjaslkj yes, this is what I want from fandom forever. ♥ (Sho/Jun.)

Code Geass: Waiting For A Happy Ending by ypaladinofchaos - Every so often I get the urge to read Code Geass fic, usually when a new Lelouch/Shirley fic has been posted, and then I get really wonderful pieces like this one. It doesn't shy away from all the bitterness and sadness of their stories, both separately and their story together, how sad and tragic it was. But somehow it manages to pull up a bittersweet ending as well and this is one of my favorite takes on Lelouch and his feelings, because it's only half about the relationship itself so much as how it motivates Lelouch, how deeply it affects him. The language of this piece, the way each scene sets just the right tone, is all very lovely, really one of the best fics for these two just about ever. ♥ (Lelouch/Shirley.)

Star Trek XI: Matched Set by Jain - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers for the movie in the fic and this rec.] I picked this fic up because it was Kirk/Uhura and, hey, porn! I like porn! Especially the still-too-rare het porn! I kept reading through the crossdressing bit because, while it's not my kink, the author has a really solid style. And then she delivered on the porn in a big way. What I really loved about this fic, though, was the way that it was almost sort of routine, I love the idea that all crew members were issued both pants and skirts, that it wasn't that out of the ordinary. That's what really made this fic stellar for me, the approach to Kirk in a skirt (in exchange for Uhura going commando). Though, the characterization was fantastic, I love that they both felt right in line with their movie selves, the way it was kinkfic but actually IC and not over the top. And, my, that was some very, very nicely written sex. (Kirk/Uhura, NC-17.)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: These Things My Mother Taught Me by halcyon_shift - [Note: This fic and this rec will contain spoilers for the second season finale.] Admittedly, I have yet to watch the last couple of TSCC episodes because I know what a bitch of a cliffhanger they ended on when they cancelled the show, but when I read this fic... I kind of think I might be okay with it now, because this fic picks up right where the show left off and does a really amazing job of continuing everything forward. John is so lost and off-balance here, but trying so hard to hide it and sort of managing, the author does an amazing job of getting inside his head, of the almost understated way he looks at the world that makes it all the more powerful. The atmosphere and little background details, the relationship with Kyle Reese and Derek Reese and Allison who aren't his Derek or Cameron, it's all amazingly done. I can so easily see John fitting into (and not fitting into) the future wasteland this way. (No warnings/pairings.)

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Like Locked Rooms by halcyon_shift - [Note: This fic and this rec will contain spoilers for the second season finale. This is also a sequel to the previous fic, it would help to have read that one first.] I am kind of getting completely sucked into this series of fics, a way things could have gone after the ending of the second season finale. There's something that's almost stark about the picture being painted here, something that's very grim and painful, especially for John who is so alone here with what he knows and can't tell. The tension in this story was fantastic, the little bits that he can't help letting slip, the way this Derek suspects him, the way this Derek is pressing him for answers. I could hardly sit still, I wanted that scene so badly, much in the same way I can hardly sit still when a TV show builds up a situation like this. The author is doing an incredible job of continuing the storyline on yet keeping it humanized. This John Connor is a fascinating character, he's coming into his own, as much as that is breaking him. Just. asl;dkfjaslkj moar plz. (No warnings/pairings.)

ARASHI Fanvid: you know i [wantcha] - waxrose seriously brings light into my life with these videos. She has a gift for matching various clips to the song she uses and finding so many different little clips, not necessarily the same footage over and over again. And even more than that, it's a great collection of clips all together, too, and you really get a sense for what the appeal of this band is. As in they're all a bunch of GIANT DORKS. ♥ I think I will love videos like this forever.

ARASHI Fanvid: Fuck You - No, seriously, waxrose does the best fanvids just about ever. I love the music she picks out, I love the clips she picks out, I love the themes she uses with her videos--happy sparkly gay boybands set to a song about saying fuck you to homophobics. And just. There's a moment about 30 seconds in, where Sho makes this face at the appropriate lyrics moment and it's just. PURE LOL. There's just. Something about the happy, upbeat little dorky dances they do set to this song. It's so great. (Also, that entire post of hers? Is magic.)

Final Fantasy VII Doujinshi (raw) - Gravity #1 - [Note: This post is locked but the comm should be somewhat easily joinable.] Nightflight was one of those sites/artists that really drew me into the FFVII fandom early on, because her artwork was so gorgeous and just exactly what I was looking for. The same is true of her doujinshi, her characters look amazing, I honestly can't decide who looks better between Sephiroth and Cloud. The tone is a lot of what I'm looking for as well, that it's kinda really painful at times, but there are happier memories sometimes, too. There's not really a whole lot of action here, it's a bit slower paced, as Cloud thinks back on various events, but it's a gorgeous little story. There's only a handful of panels for the sex scene, but that's all it really needed, imo. ♥ (Sephiroth/Cloud, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Final Fantasy VII Doujinshi (raw) - Gravity #2 - [Note: This post is locked but the comm should be somewhat easily joinable.] This is the sequel to the previous doujinshi, it may or may not help to have read that one first? This time other characters show up a bit more, there's an entire conversation with Vincent even! But the focus is still on Sephiroth and Cloud, both back in the day and in the current time. This time there's also a bit more action sequences, Cloud destroys a few monsters even while more memories pile up on on him. It does kind of feel like there should be more after this book, but it stands well on it's own and it's really cool to see Cloud briefly fighting with Masamune after he wanders into the cave it was stored in. And, of course, more gorgeous, gorgeous art here. *__* (Implied Sephiroth/Cloud, a brief scene that's a light NC-17 of Cloud by himself.)

Final Fantasy VII Doujinshi (scanslated) - Naked - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be freely joinable.] Okay, this one is total pwp. It's set during Cloud's training to be a SOLDIER and he's not doing so well, stumbling through the hallways when Sephiroth notices him and thinks he has a fever, so they go to a quiet room and pwp happens. That's pretty much it. But that's all it's aiming to be, a pwp with pretty art and it accomplishes both those things nicely. Sephiroth especially looks really fantastic, the artist does a great job with his character. Cloud is a little bigger eyed than I'd have preferred, but he's still pretty as well. The scanslation team did a very pretty job with this as well, making it a really fun read this morning. ♥ (Sephiroth/Cloud, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Bottom of the Hell - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] There's something about Xanxus/Squalo that I still just can't quite put down. Especially when it's a doujinshi like this one, where the art is really kind of stellar for just totally nailing the canon style, right down to the fight scenes or the way Squalo's hair flies around him as he moves. There's really no detail work spared here, it's very fully finished and looks amazingly polished. The story also has that rough edge that you get with characters like this, it's not a nice relationship, even if it's about loyalty and the makeouts. It just. Really hit all the right notes for this pairing. (Xanxus/Squalo, a brief scene that's NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Hyakuman kai no uso - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] And back to more D18 doujinshi, of course. I feel like I may have seen this one before or it may just be a common theme--it's the night before Hibari's ring battle and Dino runs across him in a grassy field and makeouts ensue--but it was worth picking up again even if I had. It's not necessarily my favorite style of art, but there were certain panels, usually profiles of Dino or a close up of an eye looking off to the side, things like that, that really captured the spirit of the original manga nicely. Even the extra Mukuro-only story at the end felt like it had a bit of the original's spirit in it. That's all I was looking for this morning. ♥ (Dino/Hibari, a light NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Ameoto - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] I... pretty much downloaded this one because I was super curious about Dino and Mukuro, how the author would make that pairing work. It's sort of a pwp doujinshi (except without that much graphic content, it never really gets too far beyond PG15 or so) in that the plot is pretty much entirely: Mukuro is walking in the rain in a daze, Dino picks him up, takes him back to a hotel room, they realize they're attracted to each other, the end. I can't say I agree with the Mukuro characterization, but I wasn't reading it for that. The art is serviceable and it was entertaining to read and that's all I ask for. It actually was really fun to read. :D (Dino/Mukuro, maybe not quite SFW, but not graphic, either.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Anata ni Tsutaetai Ai no Kotoba ga Aru - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be freejoy joinable.] And this time it's another Banyu doujinshi, a TYL one where Hibari tells Dino how he feels and then there's porn. I hate saying that it's typical Banyu, that what you've gotten before is what you'll get more of, because that sounds so lacking in affection for her work, when I really, really, really adore her books. The art is gorgeous as ever, the sex is as thorough and happy-making as ever, her characters look amazing as ever, I like her takes on the characters as much as ever. I especially liked Hibari being straightforward about his feelings here, because I've always kind of felt the same way about him. If he loved someone, he'd say it plainly without giving a shit about how it came across. Well, unless someone annoyed him about it, then maybe. And Banyu got that pretty well for me. ♥ (Dino/Hibari, NC-17.)

- Pokemon - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This artist did a couple of things that I really liked. First was the variety of different pokemon drawn here, even just in the first few clicks through the gallery! The group illustrations were really nicely done and had loads and loads of details in some of them. The second thing I really liked was the sense of... mm, it's difficult to put into words. But it's the fully realized backgrounds that are just as much a part of the image as the pokemon themselves, which is something I really love. The two Pikachu hopping along a stone path in a stream in a forest is probably my favorite for this, it just looked so cool! The artist also has a really soft and lovely style at times, everything looks so cute and gentle on certain pages that I just... loved it. Most of the art is somewhat on the simple side, but still super cute and just. The whole thing was super fun. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Pokemon - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Wow, it did not take long at all for me to fall in love with this site. In some ways the art is almost simple, but it's also kind of breathtaking. The colors are gorgeous and the impact (for lack of a better word) just hit me really right, I can't even say why, it's not the most skilled artist I've ever seen, just... something really caught my attention here. The later illustrations do get really, really gorgeous colors though and some of them are kind of stunning. THIS is why I keep coming back to Pokemon art sites these days, because I don't even need more than 20 images or so on a site, so long as they're really captivating ones like this. ....shut up, I just LIKED the site okay. XD (No warnings/pairings.)

- Pokemon - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not as much art here as I'd have liked, but what was here was really solid and really cute. I was a little bit on the fence at first, but by the middle of the gallery, I was really charmed by the adorableness and how solid everything was--even the chat art was really well done and I'm usually not a fan of those! But, the further you get into the gallery, the more impressive the art gets, until the more recent stuff is actually kind of amazingly detailed--there's one of a Vaporeon in the water of a glass of flowers that looks fantastic. And just. By the time I was done with the site, it had turned out to be a really satisfying one to have visited this afternoon. ♥ Plus, the log art is super cute! (No warnings/pairings.)

At least you got the link in the morning. Not like me who had to find some reason to tear myself away in the middle of the night.

(you'd think i'd know better than to look at someone's favorites but noooooooooo...)

Sometimes I think tabs were the worst addition to a browser ever, because it's just so easy to open up fifty of them to try to explore the site fully. I can do it over and over and over and think, "Okay, this time I'm going to be smart about it."

But I still wind up adding about twenty new lists of favorites pages to explore later because oh my god I've been here for two and a half hours now, I HAVE TO GO NOW. Every time. :|
