[ Prince of Tennis, Eyeshield 21, One Piece, Fruits Basket, Cardcaptor Sakura, Death Note ]
Notes/Babbling: Was originally supposed to be longer. Then I got lazy. It looks like a bigger update than it actually is, because it's so spread out, though.

- Prince of Tennis/Eyeshield 21 - Blue Blue Heaven [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - So this site answers a question I'd been pondering for awhile: "Will I ever rec a site just for one image, if I really, really like that one image?" And, apparently, the answer is: Yes. Yes, I will. Okay, technically, there's more than just the one illustration on the site (including the current top illustration with Tezuka and Atobe riding a motorcycle), but it's really that image of Tezuka reading on the couch with Atobe flopped over his lap with an, "I'm so bored. Entertain me now?" look on his face that's just both SO PERFECT and SO PRETTY that I had to rec this site. It's just... the colors and the style is something I really love, that style that almost looks like a cross between an oil paiting and a watercolor painting that I don't have a better way to describe. Just... I love those softer, lighter colors, I love the expressions on their faces, and it's just everything I want in a Zukatobe fanart. All hail the ZukaAto webring for bringing it to me~! \o/ ....oh, and I like the Eyeshield 21 fanart (which I include in this rec to make myself feel a little less guilty), some very cute Shin/Sakuraba and one really PRETTY Shin illustration that was my favorite E21 image on the site. *luffs* (Tezuka/Atobe and Shin/Sakuraba.)
- Full Metal Alchemist - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Okay, see? I have this thing for Havoc and Hawkeye. I know it's not really all that played around with in the canon of the series, but I was pinging off the idea even before I saw any of the J-fanart for it out there and when I did... well, I was just lost then. And I wish this site had more art, but... hell, there's this one of Havoc and Hawkeye dressed in black formal wear that's just so... quitely, simply lovely that I couldn't help falling in love. Plus, I ♥ the artist's oekaki board, which is just... okay, I admit, I'm amused by Havoc in seifuku-wear and the random puppy and kitty versions of the characters and there are often hugging/groping illustrations and... well, the art might not be up to everyone's par, but I loved the site for the FEELING it gave off of the characters. And hooray for Hawkeye not being blushy and froofy all of the time and the nice simplicity of the art. I also really kind of like the watercolor-like colors. ^___^ (Havoc/Hawkey, some Roy/Hawkeye.)
- Full Metal Alchemist - Route 4 [ English Fanart Site ] - You know, one thing about English artists is that they rarely put up sites (or so it seems), so I have a terrible time finding a place to link to them to rec them. It'd seem weird to link to a journal if they only do occasional art posts and perhaps don't want the attention or whatever. So that Sakki has a site that I can actually link to? HOORAY! Because, man, including the Japanese fanart out there, she's still one of my favorite artists--her lines are incredible. They're fine and detailed, but without going too shoujo or getting into "delicate", and when she does any character in military uniform? Especially Ed? OMG LOVE. But it's not just that the characters look gorgeous (I mean, it certainly helps that her art is right in my wheelhouse, the type of lines and style she has. *__*), it's the poses that she puts them in--there's a sketch of several domestic Roy/Ed (the "smarm" one in the ura gallery) that just... reading a book together or sleeping!Ed sprawled across Roy's lap or the morning after exchange of coffee... all of these things just shoot straight into my fangirl soul and make me make those funny squeaking noises. Plus, OMG I love the way she draws Ed's hair, I don't know if it's just that it's usually slightly longer than usual or looks more like real hair or what, but it just makes me ache to be able to run my fingers through it. ....errr, wow, I babble. Badly, too. But, anyway, yes, Sakki of the OMGSOGORGEOUSHOWCANISTEALHERTALENTORFORCEHERTODRAWMOREOMGSOPRETTY art. *coughs* Oh, and it's not JUST Roy and Ed, there are some stunning illustrations of Hawkeye or Winry or OH MY GOD, the one of Hughes and Gracia that is just the BEST THING EVER. Plus, her sketches just... augh, man, go see everything and save me the embarassment of drooling on myself any further, okay? (A LOT of gen, some Roy/Ed/Roy, maybe some light hints at other pairings.)
- One Piece - Hands by Katchoo - It seems a natural progression that he notices the hands of others, that they are the first thing he looks at when he meets someone, and he’s found that he can tell a lot about a person that way. This is one of those story ideas that is surprisingly simple, if very solid, on its own, but depends on the skill of the author's execution of it to be either simply "okay" or to be "great". I believe this is the second fic I've read by this author and I've adored both of her stories, because she has this way of writing such beautiful insight into her stories, that it's not just about the surface details, it's about what they say about a person. In this story, Sanji notices people's hands and what they tell about each person. Each paragraph is absolutely lovely and so very telling and true about each character's personality. I adored this. (Some hints of Sanji pairings, but it would be difficult to pin down. Zoro/Sanji if I must say something specific.)
- One Piece - Perfect Recipe by Celeste - You've probably been able to pick up on my love affair with this author's OP works because... well, really, they're just so on the mark for how I like these characters that I sparkle and bounce every time she posts even just a short little drabble fic. And this was no exception, only 342 words, but I had to include it, because it's just... it's such a neat little idea, the parallels of different kinds of "recipes" and the way Zoro and Sanji interact and all that fun, sharp dialogue. It gave me my needed OP fix for the day. ♥ (Zoro/Sanji.)
- One Piece - Cataloging by X-parrot - You know, sometimes all I really need is a short little fix, something that just... hits the right marks with the One Piece characters and I'll stop feeling so deprived with the fandom. And this really did that for me, because it was just... bwah, I could hear this conversation happening on the Going Merry, I could just see Zoro's expressions as it unfolded, and it was one of those things that just... it made me laugh and made me feel happy/warm at the same time. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)
- Fruits Basket - Warmth by dementedchris - You have no idea how my eyes lit up after reading this fic, because... well, I'm sure there are a lot of good Kyouru fics out there, but most days I don't have anything even CLOSE to enough energy to tear through FFNET to find them. So when I happen to stumble over one and it is so incredibly pitch-perfect with the characters, everything that's beautiful and tragic and hopeful and warm about them? I get so happy. And this was just perfect, right down to the warm, fluffy feeling that it left me with afterwards. Gorgeous writing and one of those simple moments in time that is SO like in the series itself--simple on the surface, but means so much more underneath that. Loved this story and the Kyou and Tohru interaction, the way Kyou cares so much, but can't quite say it in the right words, but you understand him anyway, and it's never over the line. LOVE. (Some light Kyou/Tohru.)
- Cardcaptor Sakura - Those days... by Elihice - Oh, this was so much fun, something I really wanted to start my day off right, with a giggle over an adorable little story. It's one of those that's just... it's silly, but it's not overly silly, the tone was just right for me and, man, the ending still sets me off into a gigglefit again and again. Plus, it was just... it was nice CCS fic, the kind that really felt like the characters again and had just enough Touya to keep me interested. ^_~ (No warnings/pairings.)
- Full Metal Alchemist - Paradise by Elihice - Oh, this hurt, in such a lovely and aching way. Ed's version of a perfect world, so very rip-my-heart-out-why-don't-you, yet I never really felt it was over the top angst, you know? Right from the start, it's so... it's all the things Ed would have in his ideal world, all these little things that never went wrong and never hurt so badly. And the last line indeed strikes a blow that just... aches. ;__; (No warnings/pairings.)
- Death Note - Believe by tdei - I have to admit, when I first started reading this story, I wasn't sure of Raito's characterization, it felt a little too much like trying to justify the character and make him "good" (that's not exactly the word I want, but it'll have to do), but as the story unfolded, there was this sense of tension that wound tighter and tighter, the prose of the story just perfect for the tone it was trying to achieve. I genuinely felt the tension of the situation and the emptiness of Raito's life after everything was over and done. The way he ultimately changed the world and the way he didn't change the world. The price he paid and whether or not it was worth it. The imagery of holding a rotten world in his hands and trying to hold it together, whether one agrees with his actions or not. And I think that, as the story begins to end, I could really see this for Raito and, certainly, I was glued to the monitor for the entire story once it got on its way. If nothing else, that tightening sensation in your chest that fic evokes is fantastic; this is definitely one of the best Death Note fics out there. (No warnings/pairings.)

That's what was killing me towards the middle of the series because Ed and Al just had SO MUCH crap piled on them and nothing was going their way, not really, and it hurt SO MUCH to watch them. If I could, I would just take away all Ed and Al's pain and let them live happy, snuggly lives because, dammit, after all of this, they DESERVE them. ;__;
