deviantART links! + pixiv art links!
May. 30th, 2010 10:57 am→ Usual warnings: You need an account for pixiv, you don't need one for devART/tegaki. DON'T TAKE THE ART WITHOUT PERMISSION. Save me, plz. Crapload of links here, so it make take a moment to load.
→ I know this is kind of starting to border on spammy (and I do have a real recs post almost finished) but I am determined to get caught up on Pixiv so I can give myself a little breathing room. (This would work better if I wouldn't keep getting distracted by things like Utena and CCS. orz)
→ fandomsecrets:
» "Why do fandoms [especially Arashi fandom] use such odd descriptions (instead of names) in their fic? "The miracle boy", really??" - And, oh, now I laughed when the first comment was, "Okay so where is the fic about the magician and the rapper getting it on because I need that in my life." But also I cannot agree with this more--JUST USE THEIR NAMES, OKAY. IT DOESN'T SOUND BORING, I PROMISE YOU. I agree that a little bit of epithet is okay, especially in a slash fic where two people are of the same gender, but also. It's not that hard to structure your sentences so it's clear who you're talking about! And names are "invisible" so I unless I read it five times in one sentence, I promise I'm not going to notice and will instead be focusing on what they're saying/doing. You use "the magician" and I'm going to be jarred right out of the narrative, otoh.
» "For all the grief it brought, [H/Hr] fandom still gave me a great few years." - I love this for being a positive Harry/Hermione secret, but also because it's how I feel about fandom. Sure, there's a lot of grief and it gets really hard being a fan of the ship sometimes, but at the end of the day, it's still worth it. (And, hey, it gives me perspective and empathy for other sane shippers in batshit fandoms and having to deal with both the negativity/being tarred with the same brush and having stupid people on your side.)
