[ WK, Yamimatsu, Saiyuki, FMA, Tenipuri, Tsubasa ]

Notes/Babbling: More when I have a bit more time/energy, just wanted to get something posted this morning. *blahblahblah*
Series:
    Weiss Kreuz - 1 Fanfic
Yami no Matsuei - 1 Fanfic
    Saiyuki - 1 Fanfic
Full Metal Alchemist - 3 Fanfics
Prince of Tennis - 1 Fanfic
Tsubasa RESERVoir Chronciles - 1 Fanfic

- Weiss Kreuz - Many Happy Returns by Yasmin M. - Shush, I know it's only a hundred words, but I had to. It's one of those drabbles that accomplishes everything it needs to in such a short time and left me remembering all the reasons why I'm such the RanKen fangirl in the first place. Maybe I was just in the right mood for this to hit me the way it did, but whatever the reason... so much love for this. (Vague Aya/Ken.)

- Yami no Matsuei Calculated Risks by Serilda - Serilda is one of those authors who can always make me come running with her Yamimatsu fic, especially when she writes Tatsumi/Watari. And I adore her takes on the characters, the way Watari pushes things, just a little, but never so much that Tatsumi would run away, emotional retard that he is. (He is. I love him, but, oh, how he is.) The writing is lovely, the dialogue sparkling, the way the two of them interact is wonderful, and I loved the ending. It was just... right. ....horrible rec, you go read the cute Tatari fic now. >F (Tatsumi/Watari.)

- Saiyuki - Down in the River by Selah - Excuse me. I have to go flail into a wall or two over Sanzo/Hakkai being done with such an incredibly deft hand. It's not over-angsty, but it's not fluff, either, it's that sort of delicate balance between the two that I loved so much in the manga itself. Sanzo and Hakkai are both just... these two fantastically subtle characters and they were both wonderfully written. Every little detail was just right--from Sanzo's lighter to the gorgeous dialogue to Hakuryuu biting on Hakkai's hair. But it was mostly the pitch-perfect dynamic between Sanzo and Hakkai that had me swooning over this fic. *__* (Very faint Sanzo/Hakkai, could be gen.)

- Full Metal Alchemist - Ready Steady by Kristin O. - I'm not sure what made me read this fic this morning. I've been slowly sliding away from FMA for awhile, but I have a lot of love for Kristin's fic whenever she writes in a fandom I'm familiar with, and I've been meaning to read this one, so I figured I'd at least give the beginning a shot. Then this fic hooked me from the first page and absolutely would not let me go--the writing is fabulous, just utterly smooth, readable, and lovely to read. The characterization is fantastic--her Ed nearly made me swoon, right down to all the little details of his comedic timing (not that Ed's trying to be funny, but winds up being funny anyway <3) and the way he overthinks everything. The dynamic between Roy and Ed is wonderful, that balance between grudging respect and snark just exactly the right tone for me. The pacing of the fic marvellous, the little details just utterly perfect (like with Mustang's desk or the outdoor cafe, each was beautifully woven into the scene and set it perfectly), and the way the story ended? I am nearly incoherent with the sparkle. This rec is a horrible one because of that sparkling, really. But the story really gave my interest in this series a shot in the arm again, because this is what I love so much about fanfic. (RoyEd.)

- Full Metal Alchemist - Vacation of the Mind by Yume no Ryuu - I probably shouldn't have enjoyed this little story as much as I did, but... somehow it was just one of those silly, funny little things that struck me the right way at the right moment. I think it was the bit about just how Roy got Ed to take a vacation that made me giggle a little. ....shut up, I know I'm a dippy RoyEd fangirl, I can enjoy it, if I want to! >F (RoyEd.)

- Full Metal Alchemist - The Art of Getting Lost by LCM - I'm not sure what made me head to the _crossfire comm, just that I saw an amusing-sounding summary somewhere, liked the one short fic, then started browsing through the rest of the comm and this was the second fic I happened to click onto. And it's hard to explain why I liked this so much, it's just... it was a really interesting take on Ed post-series, I really liked the balance between feeling lost and still being recognizably Ed, the writing was smooth, readable, and lovely, and I totally sparkled at the end. It was just one of those small little things that hit me exactly right after a nice story that was just the right tone. ....holy crap, that's a terrible rec, but the fic is good and made me sparkle. Go read. (As the author says: A light touch of RoyEd if you're looking, a sprinkle of fairy dust if you're not. I would have read it as gen if I hadn't know.)

- Prince of Tennis - Demonstration by Alltrees - (Note: SPOILERS for Genius 250, both in the fic and probably in this rec.) So, I saw Genius 250 earlier the day this was posted and I was all bouncy and squee'ing and happy, right? Because, well, yes. Tezuka and TezuOishi and OMGSUCHPRETTYART all in one great chapter. And then this fic was posted and it's just... on one level, it can come across as entirely a PWP, but what makes the author's writing so sparkle-inducing for me is that there are insights litered into the story everywhere, especially in regards to Tezuka and Oishi's relationship dynamic, how these two interact. The intensity of the sex, the way Oishi wants to draw the same passion out of Tezuka that is present on the court, the way the two are paralleled with each other is something that always makes my fangirl heart skip a beat. It's not even quite an "obvious" parallel, it's not about serve and volley and drop-shots, it's about the more vague experience that both sex and tennis bring about when Tezuka is playing. Which probably only makes sense in my own head, but, enh, that's all it needs to. >P Plus, very nice sex and Tezuka/Oishi sex at that. *flutters* (Tezuka/Oishi, NC-17.)

- Tsubasa RESERVoir Chronicles - Burnt Bridges by Vikki - Given that I have taken up with TRC (and XXXholic) again lately, this ficlet came at a really good time and it's a really, really good take on Fye and Kurogane's relationship, one that I can just see fitting together perfectly with the canon of the series. Kurogane's portrayal, as he talks a little about Princess Tomoyo and the way Fye watches him is fantastic, it hits all the right notes, both funny and painful because you can see so much of what they're both feeling without them having to say any of it. Plus, the emotion of it is really nicely done, just the right balance between bittersweet and something more upbeat. Lovely fic. (A little one-sided Fye/Kurogane.)
