Notes: I-- I am kind of a little in love with the Reborn! fandom. I mean! Dino/Hibari doujinshi! (And it was totally cute, too.) And more scanned anthologies. I don't think I've seen a fandom start pumping out this much action in such a short time since... w-well. I don't know, maybe Prince of Tennis?
And th-this is t-totally s-subtle, you guys. (Omg, Gokudera's face.)

- Final Fantasy VIII - Invocations by irishais - This is a very pretty, gently written Squall/Rinoa fic that is just a quiet moment of reflection from Squall about how they both don't sleep much anymore, how their time together is probably going to be limited, given who they both are, and it's not... it's not entirely unhappy, there's something of a peaceful feel here, especially from Rinoa, even with darker undertones. I find that to be rather similar to the game's feel as well. (Squall/Rinoa.)
- Gundam Wing - Excising Demons by irishais - So, after following the author back to her FFNET page, I saw an interesting Duo piece that caught my eye. And the fic didn't disappoint, it's a short little piece that's about the nature of war, peace, and revolution, with a really fantastic Duo voice. There's hints of anger and passion and weariness and street-wise ways and a certain rough quality that all make up who Duo is as he thinks about the endless dance that is war and peace and revolution. The fic has some really nice pacing and just quietly works for me. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Gundam Wing - 02XRP Ficlet by firefly171 - I was browsing around for GundamW fic to read again and stopped on this one because it said it was a 2xR fic and I'm always looking for more of that, but I'm not sure it should actually be labelled as a pairing. It's a possible moment from when Relena was still a child, when her father took her to the L2 colony after a terrible battle, trying to show her that war only caused ugliness. And what I loved about this fic is that she's such a little girl here, she doesn't really understand much at first, but she has a good heart and the message is so very... so very much like Relena. It's not easy, it's not perfect, but she wants things to be better for everyone. I actually liked this fic for the Relena aspects almost more than the interaction. (It's actually a very gen fic, but 2xR fans may enjoy it.)
- Gundam Wing - The White Knight by Terra - I randomly stopped on this fic because it promised Treize + Dorothy interaction, which are two of my favorite characters from the show who don't get nearly enough attention. And this was a really interesting look at how Dorothy may have grown up, how her philosphies on life were formed, and all wrapped up in the game of chess. Chess suits both her and Treize very well, the interaction between an eight year old Dorothy and a seventeen year old Treize is really quite fascinating, it says so much about both characters in this piece. I'm glad to have read this. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - untitled by Enkidu - After all the Ryouhei/Hibari fanart I browsed through the other day and given my love for just about anything with Hibari, I was in the right frame of mind to try a Ryouhei/Hibari fic, especially since it was from the kink meme. And this is exactly what I was hoping to get out of the ficlet--a short moment where they're fighting, both such strong people and it's a hard fight, and who really knows where the fight ends and the sex begins and ends and the fight begins again, which is what made it fantastic for these two. It was genuinely hot and rough and Hibari was so Hibari and then... alsdkfjalskdjlfaksjd the last two lines were beautiful. (Ryouhei/Hibari, around R-rated content.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - The Thing About Pants by Enkidu - I clicked on this fic because I was curious to read a fic with Tsuna/Kyouko, since I always thought they were cute, and they are adorable here, but it's more on the level of what you'd find in canon. Except... ads;lfkalkajsdflkajs ahahahaha Gokudera is my favorite for reasons exactly like this, no matter how much I love other characters or focus on them, this is why I love Gokudera. Because he doesn't even think twice about it. Also, the ending (and the potential for what else Gokudera may very well have been capable of) are total LOL and I could just about see this coming right out of the manga itself. (Some Tsuna/Kyouko on the level of canon and Gokudera/Tsuna fans might enjoy as well.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - Awkward Situations by kasugai_gummie - You know, for a character that often annoys the shit out of me while reading the manga, I am strangely fond of Lambo fic. Perhaps because much of fandom shares my annoyance with his younger self and likes to be mean to him in ways that would fit so well between the pages of canon. Especially given child Lambo's tendency to... ah... cling... suggestively... to just about whatever happens to be handy. This short series of various mishaps that result from that and the 10-year-bazooka are pretty damn hilarious. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - filling in the spaces by forochel - So, I was browsing Mei's Reborn! pimp post (which she posted a few months ago and I mourn that I didn't get to flail at her over it, because it was great fun) and she had linked this fic and, oh, hey, it was a Dino/Hibari fic I hadn't yet read! Not that it was actually Dino/Hibari, it was UST at most, something that could have happened in the manga itself, which is actually what I liked about it. The characterizations were lovely, Dino is both capable mafia boss and grinning idiot, Hibari is both blood-thirsty violent little bastard and something else, and they fight each other and Hibari almost respects Dino and Dino is clearly fond of Hibari and it's just... yessss. Dino/Hibari bloody fight in an alley right before the fights for the rings start. I'll probably not get tired of that for a long time yet. (Dino/Hibari, except it could be totally gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - INTO THE FUTURE-! by forochel - It took me a minute to get the ending of this one, but once I did, it was really kind of great. This is just a short little scene, set in the future and Hibari is training Tsuna--which is so much fun for Tsuna, really, but his mental thought process while he's trying to dodge Hibari's attacks are fun--a short moment in time, but when Dino shows up, it gets even more delightful. There are several good lines in this one and I had a lot of fun reading it. (....not really any pairings? But you could read Dino/Hibari into it?)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - Five Times Hibari Tried to get Rid of Ryohei Permanently by Pero - The fic is pretty much exactly as the title states and, the longer I'm in fandom, the more I kinda like the idea of Ryouhei/Hibari, so I was in the right frame of mind to read this and... as;dflkjasdlkj AHAHAHAHA SO HILARIOUS. Her Ryouhei is totally and utterly fantastic and spot-on in his dense enthusiasm and her Hibari is also totally spot on in his casually violent attempts to get rid of the annoying pest. It's a great use of putting someone so cheerful together with someone like Hibari and Pero puts in all these little details that make me able to just picture the whole thing perfectly. I LOL'd. (This is mostly pretty gen? But you can read Ryouhei/Hibari into it if you want.)
- The Little Mermaid - seeing your world from the outside by Northlight - I recently got the urge to go looking for The Little Mermaid fic, since I've always loved that movie (and seen it more times than I should have) and I remember liking a lot of the fic Northlight has written, so I gave this one a chance. It's a more melancholy, deeper look at the series and what it meant for someone like Ariel to give up the sea for a new life on land. It's not completely unhappy, there are moments of real love here and sweetness, but it's not an easy piece, it's truly what the title says--seeing your world from the outside isn't an easy thing. The language of the fic is lovely and evokes all the emotion the author intended. (Eric/Ariel.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club - What's She Like by namistai8 - The first of these three scenes kind of threw me a little, it was hard to imagine Kyouya in it and saying the things he did, but... the writing is lovely and the concept was intriguing. The second and third ones are a bit smoother and there's a lot of this really lovely subtle quality and the three scenes together, each scene where Kyouya does or doesn't talk about Haruhi to some other woman in his life, it makes for a really interesting look at his character. The various people he talks to, sometimes a little like Haruhi and sometimes completely different from Haruhi, all illuminate something about him and it was interesting to see the types of women the author came up with. I especially really liked the third one, I'd love to have seen more in that universe. (Kyouya/Haruhi onesided, some Kyouya/OC in a way.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club - Glass Character by bedsight - How strange that I've found myself reading mostly Kyouya/Haruhi fics, it's not my favorite pairing for either character (though I love it utterly, don't get me wrong ♥) and it seems like it would be one of the more difficult pairings to get right. And yet there are a handful of authors who do a fantastic job with Kyouya's character as he thinks about Haruhi, how calm and precise his thoughts are, even when they're starting to come undone while she's near. The use of language and textbooks and the properties of stained glass and the rest of the Host Club members make this a very insightful and very beautiful fic that was a delight to read. (Kyouya/Haruhi.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club - Taboo by mirax_took_ - Oh, now, this was just delightful. The writing is lovely and smooth, the opening of the scene with Haruhi and the twins wondering who on earth Tamaki is talking to on the phone... well, the twins wondering and Haruhi blithely going on about her business... and then. The way the author writes Tamaki's speech patterns and flowery words! They're perfect. They're bursting with romance and sparkles and flowers, but not so ridiculously that they're over the top even for a character like Tamaki, instead it actually feels like what he would say. And then the ending with everyone and Kyouya was utterly delightful. I loved it. (Tamaki/?, sort of.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club - Falter by namistai8 - This is a very nice story about Mori's developing feelings for Haruhi, the way it sends him into a bit of a quiet tailspin, how badly he feels about it, how confused he is, yet there's still this sort of calm on the surface of the water. It's a nice insight into Mori's character as much as it is a nice insight into the Mori/Haruhi relationship. The inclusion of Hunny and his effect on Mori's life, the way it's not exactly what everyone else thinks, yet Hunny is still obviously very important to him, it fits nicely with how I view the characters and their dynamics. (Mori/Haruhi.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club - A Picture's Worth by Devera - Well, since I'd read most of my other favorite Host Club pairings this afternoon, I figured I'd try to hunt down some Kyouya/Tamaki that didn't make me want to punch people in the face, which seems to be semi-rare. ^_~ And this was a really fun, well-written piece. It was just the length it needed to be for the plot to unfold, for Tamaki to put all the pieces together and realize his feelings, and wrap it all up nicely. Very enjoyable. (Kyouya/Tamaki.)
- Ouran Koukou Host Club/Death Note - untitled by Bek - As I've often said, there is something about Death Note that is fantastic for crossovers, though... I would not have thought that Host Club would be one of those series. But this was utterly delightful, Haruhi's reactions to picking up the Death Note and to seeing Ryuk were spot on and the writing was charming and fun and all things this crossover should be. It's amazing how little trouble I had seeing both series come together like this, but it struck the perfect tone in the characters and the little bits of imagery/movement from everyone, the little details just making the fic. And the ending was absolutely, utterly priceless. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)
- Ugly Betty - The Evolution of Us by ifyouweremine - Given that this fic was written almost a year ago, it's going to be a little outdated, of course, but I find that it holds up really, really well even today. It fits so well with where I am with the show right now (admittedly, I'm far behind on season two, I've only seen the first three episodes or so so far), how I like Henry/Betty because it's so cute and so darling and because he makes her so happy. I want that for both of them! But I love Daniel's growth as a person and I love how much he genuinely cares about and is coming to need Betty, which this fic does a lovely job of showing. Daniel isn't always a nice person and he's growing, but he still needs her and... well, the ending was just about perfect. (Daniel/Betty, Henry/Betty.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - You know how I try to stay strong on sites and then sort of cave when I get to a certain illustration or two? Y-yeah. This site probably isn't going to be for everyone and you might have to be a Tsuna/Gokudera fan ahead of time to really fall for it like I did, but I was growing very fond of the site and the only thing holding me back was that there wasn't a lot of art here. And then I got to the fanart of Gokudera playing the piano while Tsuna watched and I was just quietly gone. I don't know why this illustration worked so much for me, but it somehow does. Plus, Tsuna with baby puppy Gokudera is just ridiculously cute. ♥ The site just... left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling by the end. (Gokudera/Tsuna.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The loose, not quite messy, sketch illustration with a lighter use of colors really works for me on this site. Her characters look so very hot and I love the way their bodies and movements look and I love the way she draws Dino's tattoos and her Hibari is so hot. There's not a whole ton of art here, which makes me sad because I really like this artist a lot. Her b&w stuff is as hot as her colored art, which I don't see all that often, I think both work almost equally well. (I do like the color art a smidge better, but that's only because most people do like color over simple b&w, not because they're any better done.) Her Yamamoto is also very nice and this was just a cool little site. (Some Dino/Hibari, some gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I... I kind of knew that I was going to be caving on this site when I came across the oekaki of Hibari with a purple dying will flame on his head (which I'd never seen before and is kind of great), but it was official when I was going through the oekaki board and there was this utterly adorable series of chibis with Hibari raking at some leaves on the ground, while Ryouhei comes along curiously, wondering what he's doing and then he gets a totally great idea and dumbs a whole bagful of raked up leaves over Hibari's head. I had to laugh. But the oekaki really is fun here, sometimes totally cute chibis, sometimes pretty little sketches of the characters. A fun way to spend half an hour or so. <3 (Some Dino/Hibari, some gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - WARLOCK [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Again, there's not a whole lot of fanart on this site, but... well, when the second illustration I saw was one of Dino picking Hibari up and practically carrying him off over his shoulder and Hibari had this hilarious WTF look on his face (right before he started biting, I like to believe), I had to laugh. Kind of a lot. And the rest of the site is nice, even the oekaki (which are a little small for my usual taste, but still nice) and sketches are interesting to look at. There's even a totally adorable Bianchi+Gokudera sketch and Gokudera in glasses! I was pleased. ♥ (Some Dino/Hibari, some gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - 7menzippo [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Okay, the second illustration on this site is one of the Reborn! characters at a festival in yukata and have fried corn on the cob and masks and everything and it's very cute, but what totally sold me on the site is the utterly bored expression on Hibari's face as Dino goes :D :D :D at everything. And then after that is the the very, very nice anime-cel-style illustrations and, oh, man, Dino's arms. And the tattoos. *__* I am willing to overlook just about anything for Dino with hot, hot tattoos. But I really do like the artist's take on the characters, it does feel very anime-esque with her CG-style colors, and she definitely has some very interesting pieces on the site. And by "interesting", I mean, "Wow, her Hibari is kind of seriously hot." And a lot of her Dino/Hibari illustrations are pretty smoking, too. The one at sunset, where they're fighting and Dino's whip is wrapped around Hibari's tonfa is really beautifully done. But I think maybe my favorite one is where Hibari is casually hosing Dino in the face, his expression not looking an iota out of normal. Just. Ahahahahaha, yes. (Dino/Hibari, a little NSFW content on some of the pages.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - MELANCHOLIC shinwasei [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is a nice, solid site with a decent amount of well-done art. Hibari/Tsuna is a pairing I see fairly often, but since I don't seek it out as much, I don't see it that often, so it's nice to stumble across it once in awhile. While I like the color art on the site well enough, I think the artist really shines when she does b&w illustrations, the lines look much better and the use of highly contrasted tones works well with her style. Though, the sketches are pretty damn cute, too. And there's at least a couple of really nice Mukuro/Tsuna sketches tucked away on the pages. And some very nice Dino/Hibari on a page or two. All in all, a nice little site if you like the pairings, I think. And, hey, now I can cross Dino/Gokudera off my list! XD (Hibari/Tsuna, some Mukuro/Tsuna, a little other.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - LILIUM [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Sometimes I wonder if I should be recommending sites that have only a dozen or so images on them... but, then, sometimes people rec a single piece of art, so I figure I'm safe. ^_~ Plus, the art is so pretty here, the artist does these really pretty things with her art, the colors are so rich and the illustrations often look fully detailed and they might not impress everyone, but I enjoyed them a lot. Plus! There are chibis! Chibis with the same almost glowing, pretty colors! I really liked this site. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Not all of the illustrations on this site are perfect, but what the artist does that captured my attention is that her colors are beautiful. That current top one of Tsuna with the gold and peach and orange colors as he's in Hyper Dying Will mode is just lovely. And the artist does a really beautiful Hibari with that same style of rich, lush colors. The artist does an older!Tsuna as well, who continues to be smoking hot, too. And her Halloween illustrations are darling! ....and I could go on like that for awhile yet, it's what I like about the site, some of the illustrations are really striking, like I want to stop and stare at them for awhile and then burble happily over them. It was a fun site to visit. (Some Hibari/Tsuna, some gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is another site that doesn't have a whole lot of art on it, but the Hibari/Tsuna illustrations are so pretty and so professional looking that I was immediately charmed by them. They seriously half look like they could just about be official art, that's how slick and clean the colors and lines of them are. Well, at least some of them. And the others are still just really pretty, the artist uses soft, pretty pastel colors a lot or pretty shades of blue and her Hibari is hot and her Tsuna is adorable and her Mukuro is pretty. That's often all I ask of a site. XDD (Hibari/Tsuna, Mukuro/Tsuna.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn! - WORLD HUNT Online [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The art here is so cute and clean and adorable! It's smooth and polished enough that it could... perhaps not official art, but it's definitely some of the better doujin-quality level work I've seen. The basic lineart and shading is good (which you can see in her b&w stuff), but her coloring is also very nice--bright without being too obnoxious. I love several of the pairings here--the Hibari/Tsuna is very cute, I always love nicely done Gokudera/Tsuna, and there's even Chikusa/Ken! I hardly ever seen fanart for those two! It was a fun little site with a handful of really fantastic pieces. (Some Hibari/Tsuna, some Gokudera/Tsuna, some Chikusa/Ken, some other, some gen.)
- Katekyou Hitman Reborn!/Bleach/Gintama/Naruto - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site didn't take me long at all to really come to like. Not all of the illustrations are perfect, but the artist has a style where she has very fine, detailed lines, the kind with the really fleshed backgrounds (or sometimes just really complex looking structures around the characters) or just really detailed looking clothing and it's a very cool style. And it's just even better that, while I came here for and really like the Dino/Hibari, the artist also seems fond of Gokudera/Tsuna! I reallylike the way the artist draws Dino's hair, too. *__* Her Bleach art is in much the same style and while I think it works better with other series, I find the art really cool-looking still. And ditto again for the Gintama and Naruto fanart, they're definitely worth visiting for those series as well. (Dino/Hibari and some gen for KHR. Some Aizen/Gin and some gen for Bleach. Some GinZura and some gen for Gintama. Gen for Naruto.)
- Prince of Tennis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, my god. I had a screaming fit at poor Meg as I stumbled onto this site, because I am out of Prince of Tennis fandom. Sure, I read a couple of fics recently, but they were ones that mostly just popped up on my flist, not art sites for rare pairings that I went specifically to visit. But. But. B-but. It's Tezuka/Eiji, do you know how rare that pairing is? And much less when it doesn't suck?? I mean, it's not perfect, but it's very cute and I actually... I mean, I know it's a crackship, but sites like this remind me that it's kind of fun to ship crackships sometimes. The art here is loose and fun and cute, almost sketch-like but the artist has a lot of potential and it's just fun to look at the images. .....♥ (Tezuka/Eiji, some other/Eiji.)
