Final Fantasy VIII: a room somewhere by measuringlife - There are two things that I love deeply about this fic. One is that it reflects the way that Rinoa changed Squall as a person through the game, rather than the other way around. Two, this pairing is one of those that suits the author's writing style so well that I just glow when she writes these two and this fic is no exception to that. The use of language, the almost dreamy tone to every scene, the little details and snatches of imagery, all of it blend together in this really beautiful fic about Squall trying to find himself post-game, trying all sorts of different things, and eventually it always comes back to her, to Rinoa quietly opening him up and guiding him out of a dull, colorless world. ....okay, my rec here sucks, but this really is a beautiful fic, the kind that I want to read forever about these two. *__* (Squall/Rinoa.)

Jyuken Sentai Gekiranger: Total Opposites by scifisentai - This is another short piece, set from Gou's point of view, on the rest of the team, mostly the Jan/Retsu pairing, which goes about as well with Gou as you'd expect, and maybe not entirely disliking Ken. Plus it has this line: At least, he thought defiantly, Ken didn’t make up words to describe things that had perfectly good words already. Between Gou mentally bitching about Jan (and I will never, ever get enough of Gou bitching about Jan/Retsu and his precious baby brother) and Gou's sense of something like loss that Retsu's all grown up now and doesn't need an older brother anymore, I adored this. <3 (Gou/Ken, Jan/Retsu.)

Kamen Rider Den-O: Gross by Whisper - You know who I kind of really didn't like at first but grew to be really super-fond of? Ryuutaros. And I ♥ this short little fic for walking that line between keeping his childlike nature and how he was more perceptive than most people might give him credit for. I love the opening lines: Ryutaros thought it was gross. He got it, but it was still pretty disgusting. and the way Ryuutaros just sort of lets them go on on purpose. XD (Implied Momotaros/Urataros?)

Kamen Rider Den-O: Contraband by capncosmo - [Note: This fic and this rec have huge SPOILERS for the ending of Den-O.] This was super adorable, with little Hana-chan and her parents and her uncle sneaking her chocolate despite her mom's crazy dietary restrictions and her dad being adorable and, well, we'll blame it on Uncle Ryou if we get caught! :D and Ryoutarou being... well, Ryoutarou. This was charming, omg. <3 (Implied Sakurai/Airi.)

Kamen Rider Den-O: Whispering Truths by capncosmo - This is one of those fics that I've wanted from the Den-O fandom pretty much since I started watching the episodes and was torn over the whole Ryoutarou - Yuuto - Airi thing, because it doesn't really say anything one way or the other, how Ryoutarou feels, it's kind of a big jumble of emotions, which is perfect. I love that it's Urataros that lightly questions him and Ryoutarou evading the question is A+ here. *__* (Maybe some implied Ryoutarou/Yuuto or Yuuto/Airi.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: There is a crack in everything (that’s how the light gets in) by stitchedophelia - There is something about the idea of Hibari/Chrome that appeals to me and I'm not sure I can really put my finger on why that is, it's not like they ever really interact in the manga and both have people that are far more impactful on their world. And yet. I'm intrigued by the idea nonetheless, especially if an author can write something like this, which is soft and gentle and subtle and almost uncaring, except that's not it. Maybe passive is a better way to describe it, because these two would not set each other off, yet they would fit together somehow. The tranquil feeling in the piece that's over something else that's harder to pin down is just... really pretty and how I'd imagine these two would go. *intrigued all the more* (Hibari/Chrome, implied Dino/Hibari.)

Sailor Moon: Amantes Sunt Amentes by swan_songs - I was intrigued by the pairings listed on this as being both Kunzite/Zoisite and Endymion/Serenity--my two favorite pairings in one fic? That hardly ever happened! And it was a cute fic set back in the Silver Millennium where Endymion was totally smitten with Serenity, so the Four Kings were being sought after to "help" him and Zoisites suggestions were, ah, interesting. Plus, some friendly bitching between the Kings yet you could tell how they all felt the same towards Endymion and knew it, which was probably my favorite part of the fic--though they might complain, they cared about him very obviously. (Kunzite/Zoisite, Endmyion/Serenity.)

- Final Fantasy VII - Sketch Book Show [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I feel like I've seen this site before, that I've seen these illustrations before, with half of them. But it's not on my list at all and I was pretty thorough about finding most of the Sephiroth/Cloud sites I could. Well, either way, this site would be worth a re-rec, since it does some really pretty things with the characters (even some makeouts!), the lines are those soft, flowing, almost airy sketch-like details that I'm weak to, then the coloring is soft and pretty and every time I go back across that one of Sephiroth and Cloud sleeping in the same bed? I'm total goo all over again. Normally, I like something more intense and darker (which this site also provides *__*b), but pre-game stuff? I'll take fluff once in awhile, especially when it's beautifully drawn. Also, there are fan-comics! That are really well-drawn and fun to go through! *__*b (Sephiroth/Cloud.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I kind of went back and forth on this site for awhile, the characters do look awfully willowy/skinny at times. But then the artist would put in a surprising amount of detail or the colors would look really good and I was just kind of quietly charmed. When the artist draws from certain angles or focuses on the hair/clothes of the characters, she does a really lovely job, she's totally got that soft, airy/snowy thing down. (Which I'm totally weak to.) The site is mostly focused on Harutoki3 and 4 and it really did make me terribly curious about Harutoki4, the girl looks lovely already. <3 (....mostly het, various pairings, don't make me try to label this one.)

- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - One of the things that I find vaguely frustrating about the REBORN! fanart sites--when it comes to Mukuro art, that is--that some of it is really pretty and there's a ton of it, but I can never really remember which sites I've been to and which ones I haven't, because I'm usually more focused on other characters/pairings. But I'm pretty sure I've never been to this site before because I think I would have remembered a) the Byakuran/Mukuro art or b) the one of Mukuro surrounded by falling feathers and ocean behind him, which was just. Really striking. There's also one of Vongola Boss!Tsuna that's also just... really striking, is the best way I can put it. Not everything on the site is perfect, but there's some really interesting art to be found occasionally and that made it worth the visit. (Mukuro/Tsuna, Byakuran/Mukuro, some gen.)

- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I went back and forth on this site for a bit at first, the illustrations seemed to have not resized quite right or something, but you could tell that the artist had some really neat stuff going on. But I kept at the gallery and was totally rewarded with a beautiful Hibari illustration and then a kind of super hot Mukuro/Hibari illustration with panthers and then a really lovely one of Tsuna freeing Mukuro and-- well. Not everything here is perfect, but occasionally there's an image that just totally knocks it out of the park and there's a surprising amount of art here and it was a really satisfying site. The artist's Mukuro/Tsuna is especially lovely, it's all sharp lines and edges that really work for these two! (Mukuro/Tsuna, Mukuro/Hibari, some other, some gen.)

- Naruto - WARDROBE+ [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I've recommended this site before for the REBORN! art, but I don't think I did for the Naruto art? I didn't go into the site expecting to, since it was tucked away in the other section (scroll down almost to the bottom to find a surprising amount of it) and I almost started skimming the gallery, but... there's a surprising amount of detail in this art, the style is very rounded and almost simple but that works well with Kishimoto's style. And, well. I'm weak to Yondaime+Naruto art, which this artist seems fond of as well, it's what got my attention, but there are also really kickass pieces of Lee or Zabuza/Haku or Team 7 or the Naruto girls. It was a really nice site. <3 (No real warnings/pairings.)

- Tales of the Abyss - GIRAFFE [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, this site has some lovely watercolor-style paintings and while not everything is perfect, the artist has a handful that are just really fantastic to look at. Her Luke is especially well done, the colors work so well with him and Guy together. There's a decent amount of art on the site as well and I kind of love the artist's Peony/Guy, too. It was fun going through the sketches pages as well--as much as I'm fond enough of Guy/Luke fanart, it's also nice to see some variety and there's at least one pretty one of Natalia and some cute Luke art and some adorable kidlets stuff. So, a nice stop on my Abyss spree today. (Mostly Guy/Luke, a little other, some gen if you step very carefully.)

- Tales of the Abyss - 27 [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I've recommended this site before for the Harukanaru Toki no Nakade fanart, but it wasn't until today that I stumbled over it again for the Tales of the Abyss art, apparently having gotten myself into a Guy/Luke and Asch/Luke corner of fandom without realizing it. XD But this Guy/Luke artist has a certain something to the art where it's kind of totally nailing a canon-esque feel to it for me, something about it is just really solidly good. The details are solid, but it's the strength and smoothness of the clean lines and the pretty colors that really won me over, it's one of the better sites out there for the pairing, I think. :Db (Guy/Luke.)

- Tales of the Abyss/Ookiku Furikabutte - LaLa [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site isn't terribly big, but it has some really cute, adorable art--like the Tales of the Abyss cast as Alice in Wonderland! There's also at least one really nicely done Guy/Luke kiss illustration. It's mostly focused on Asch/Luke art and it's the hand-holding or side by side kind of art that could almost be gen (but sort of isn't) and is just a really nice stop on an Abyss fanart search this morning. There's even less Oofuri art, but what's here has this really warm, adorable feeling that vibes so well with the original manga that I had to recommend it. <3 (Asch/Luke and Guy/Luke for ToA, no real single theme for Oofuri.)
