- Full Metal Alchemist - Hush Money [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Admittedly, it took me awhile to figure out where the non-oekaki art was stashed on this site and it's never that much, but this site IMMEDIATELY made it to my recs page because of the multiple page comic she has. It's about 25 pages long and is one of the most stunning things I have ever seen--her lines are incredible, softly drawn, almost delicate, but not girly, just very, very pretty. Her shading and detail are wonderful and the characters themselves are amazing. Half the comic seems to revolve around Roy tying Ed's tie and the way she draws even the softest little touches... half the time it was hysterical (when Ed was embarassed or cranky) and half the time, you could just FEEL the UST rolling off them in waves. I'm amazed when an artist can capture such an intense something between the characters like she does AND make it one of the most beautiful b&w comics I've ever seen. I'm in love. (Roy/Ed.)
- Gokusen - Gankake [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I don't know how I managed this, but somehow I wound up on a page of Gokusen links and, given that I rather like the series, I started clicking around, seeing what I could find. This was about the third or fourth site I hit and, holy crap, PAYDIRT! The artist's style is just beautiful--she has all these lovely colors and beautiful shading going into the art, giving it this depth that's fantastic. They look almost more like paintings than they do CG art, which I always love to see. I also wasn't really much of a Shin/Kumiko fan (I'd certainly thought about it, it'd have been hard not to, but I didn't want to go all 'shipper on the series), but after looking at this artist's work... I can really start to see what she likes about the pairing and it's kind of winning me over. >_> Excellent, excellent art here, especially the ones of them in kimono--those are gorgeous. (Some Shin/Kumiko.)
- Gundam Wing - Ve+La+Te [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It took all of one click in this gallery to know I was going to rec this site--it was the one of Duo in a bar with Howard as bartender and it just looked fantastic. The coloring and lines are very CG-style, but the kind that's done really well, nearly on a professional level. There are a few details that are a little off with the artist's proportions, but I found that I didn't much care because I really liked the feel of the art. Plus, the sprites are absolutely adorable. XD Gundam Wing is such a rare thing for me to find art that I really like for it that I kind of have to pounce on anything I find that's nicely drawn. So... here we go, I guess. XD (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Gundam Wing - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I didn't really mean to get on a GW kick this morning, but I found a couple of sites that I rather liked and so what the hell. XD I, of course, am very partial to 1x2 sites (Oddly enough, 1x2 seems to get the most pretty doujinshi, whereas 1xR gets the most pretty fanart, I'm not sure what's with that. ^_~) so I was prone to liking this site, but there were several illustrations that were just... friggin cute! Half of the art here was a sort of chibi-esque style that I waffled on at first, but the more I saw of it, the more I really quite liked it. (The current top illustration is a good example of it.) Not all of the art is to my particular taste, but the colors are really well-done and some of the occasional illustrations are less chibi-ish and more doujinshi-like, which were niiiiice. Not so much for the prettypretty factor, but for the intensity and feeling they evoked. Plus, there's this one of Heero holding a scraped up Duo in the rain that made me fangirl quite a lot because the lines of it are fantastic and the colors just perfect. *__* (HeeroxDuo.)
- Gundam Wing - The Second Cage [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I wasn't originally going to rec this site, because I wasn't crazy about all of the art, but I liked enough of it that I kept clicking... and the further I got into the gallery, the harder I fell in love with the art. Oddly enough, while the artist seems more fond of 1x2, I was initially drawn to her 3x2 fanart more, which was just... nice. There's one of Trowa reading on the couch with Duo look like he's about to climb into his lap that I just loved. There are also several single-character illustrations where the artist is really on the ball and her art strengthens up to be not quite sketchy, but just a hint of delicate-ness to the characters that I really liked. But the real highlight was the rough sketches--the artist style works so very, very well when she's doing sketchy work--there's one of Heero just about to kiss Duo that takes my breath away. *__* Then there was the gorgeous one of Duo glomping Trowa and the fantasty sketches (I loved the one of Heero... can I have him? Please?) and the group illustrations were FANTASTIC. I was very, very glad to stumble over this site this morning. ♥ (Some 1x2, some 3x2, some other x2 pairings.)
- Gundam Wing - Snog X by Aspen - So, GW fanart this morning put me in a GW mood. Which lead to randomly wandering around sites, looking for Relena-related stuff. I really like her, but it's rare to find something that fits with my tastes, but stumbling over the 101 ways to snog en route to a colony archive, I saw that one of them was a Dorothy/Relena fic and decided to give it a shot. And *happy sigh~* this is what I wanted from my DorothyxRelena fic--the writing somehow elegant, filled with graceful, delicate, feminine imagery, but without being purple-prose-ish about it. The characterization was spot on and the dynamics between the characters perfect. I loved this. *fangirls* (Dorothy/Relena.)
- Gundam Wing - Snog XXXVII by Cutter - I've realized that these fics are perfect for me, because they're bite-sized fics, just enough for my attention span, but not just 300-words (though, I doubt any of them go much over 1,000 words), they're a nice little idea encapsulated in the fic, not stretching it beyond the premise, but not shortening it down too much, becuase they're well-written, and because I get snogging! *twirls* And this one would be Sally/Noin, which is a pairing that I love, because it allows both characters to be smart, tough, independant, and not a doormat for anyone else. *coughs* And that shone through beautifully here--both are tough military chicks; I loved Sally's love of flying and the way she just felt at home in the pilot's seat. The writing was also lovely, very much just the right tone for this story. ♥ (Sally/Noin.)
