- Arashi - Five Ridiculously Cute Ohmiya Moments by Honooko - One of the things that I love about Arashi is that they all love each other just so much and it's such a warm and happy band that fandom so often reflects that, sometimes in the form of warm, happy Ohmiya SK moments where they're just... sometimes they're in each other's space and comfortable there, sometimes they're being adorable boys, sometimes they're ridiculously cute when they snuggle and Ho-sensei has a way of bringing that out beautifully. She adds in all these little details to the scene, the kind that fit with their personalities so well, that make the scene that much easier to picture in my mind's eye, the kind that make a cute image just that much cuter. Sometimes, while I was reading this, I wasn't sure if my heart would be able to take all the wibbling it produced. (Ohmiya.)
- Arashi - five times ohno is a very curious boy -- er, man by feigningsleep - There are several moments in this fic that are absolutely hilarious, the sense of... well, honestly, Arashi that's packed into each scene as Ohno goes around asking what an orgy is, the way the whole thing comes together to be so beautifully... well, Arashi that I just... I love it. I honestly don't think I could pick a favorite because they're all so full of these little details that are perfect. The end of the scene with Nino makes me crack up just thinking of it, the scene with Sho is just so much pure WIN that I can hardly stand to contemplate it, much less reread it, all of them so perfect together at the end. Definitely one of the best orgyfics the fandom has produced, even if it's not actually porn. (Arashi/Arashi.)
- Bleach/One Piece - The Six Phases Of A Project by incandescens - Bleach and One Piece! I didn't think this kind of crossover would work (despite that they're obviously two of my favorite series) but this was just delightful fun and the two slid together in this way that... it's a combination of the sense of humor of both Bleach and One Piece, it has this style that manages to fit both of them. Plus, Smoker, Tashigi, and the other Marines! Adding Shunsui and Nanao into that mix! Craziness in the way that these two series should have craziness! Really a greatly fun fic. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings beyond what you'd see in canon.)
- D.Gray-man - Unintended by Triste - [ part 01 - part 02 ] - You have no idea how delighted I am to have a fic like this dedicated to me on my birthday, one of the precious few really good DGM fics out there and such a nice, long read. Which is one of the great things about this story, because Triste takes time with Kanda and Allen, showing them slowly working towards finding a way to get along without making it too easy for them, but not wallowing in emo angst, either. She keeps the fun dorkery from the series, but puts them in a situation where it's a plausible fun dorkery, like the lighter moments from the manga. And her characterization is lovely, Kanda's angry and uptight but not stupid and has real feelings, Allen is polite and gentle-natured but still has his backbone and, god, Allen teaching Kanda how to play cards (how to cheat at cards) just for something to do is one of those beautiful moments that I'll always treasure in the DGM fandom. Just. Allen and Kanda forced to get along by being shipped off to a deserted island (I love Komui and his, uh, solutions to problems) and so many little details that make the fic feel just that much more fleshed out. This was really a very, very nice satisfying read, over 10,000 words and I swear it just sailed right by in the absolute best way. ....okay, this rec is crappy, but the fic is totally awesome, go read omg. ♥ (Kanda/Allen, PG-13 for a light lime scene.)
- JE - The Adventures of Boob and Boobs, or: Six Dramas Johnny Will Give Us If He Really Loves Us by darkeyedwolf - Every once in awhile I stop to reread this fic because it's an example of the "five things" type of fic that actually works. Plus, it's a great example of how Wolfie's brain is some sort of magical place where everything is make of gay and rainbows and sparkles and somehow she manages to get that craziness down into text form. Also, every time I read that first one, with the idea of Jin and Yamapi as ninjas, I kind of die because I would both fear for the world and watch that in a heartbeat and this fic conveys that reaction perfectly. (Jin/Yamapi.)
- JE - Ryo's Parents Never Hugged Him as a Child by Pero - Dammit, it's not fair trying to drag me into NEWS, because I can name, like, three members of the band, yet... the concept of this fic (Tegoshi trying to prove that Ryo really is nice underneath it all, really!) pulled me in, especially because the author is great at humor and balancing large casts. And I love Ryo, I love him dearly already, but I love his sharp tongue and I love the adorably cute reactions of everyone around him when he's kinda evil. Plus, he's not psycho!Ryo or too over the top (it is humor, so it's slightly exaggerated, but... it's also JE, so it fits, too XD) but still hilariously mean. And this was great fun. ....dammit. (No real warnings/pairings.)
- JE - Five Times Ryo Found Out He Was Pregnant by helicoptersky - I almost didn't want to read this one because... wtf? Ryo pregnant? But I really love the author's other work so much and, hey, at least the pairing indicator at the beginning said it was Ryo and Uchi and I really like them, so what the hell I said. And ads;lfjkasdflkjadsflij oh my god I seriously cannot pick a favorite of these five scenes because they're all too beautiful. The writing and pacing are amazing and asdlfasdlfjkadf;ljks pregnant Ryo and I'm just going to go over here and die some more. (Some Ryo/Uchi, it's not really the point much at all.)
- Naruto - Fragments by dxoverdt - I was browsing recs_rainbow and came across a post with a Naruto rec in it, a NaruSaku one and I figured, oh, why not, I'll just read the beginning to see if I like it. It was light and snappy and fun, one of those fics that wasn't so heavy that it was like wading through water to read it (not that those aren't welcome sometimes, too), the way they sparred and Naruto slowly showed her moments of vulnerability and Sakura was determined and smart and a nice break from all the angst they go through without making their lives too easy or forgetting that they're ninja. An interesting piece I'm glad to have read. (Naruto/Sakura.)
- Scrubs - Five For Five by Alissa - Omg! Scrubs fic! Fabulous Scrubs fic! I wouldn't have thought I'd be so over the moon for fic about JD and the Janitor (which can get to be a bit repititve at times) but Alissa writes it so well, she makes it so much fun that I was practically bouncing in my chair the whole time. Her sense of timing, her characterization and dialogue for the characters, the whole tone of the fic fits with the series so well that I want to keep her in the fandom until she writes at least a handful more for me. It really does read like this could have happened in an episode, I can see the characters and hear their voices without any trouble, the sense of it being just another one of those insane days is perfect. I loved this so much. (No warnings/pairings.)
