30 Rock: Two Random B-Plots Make One Very Special Episode by boundbyspells - This fic started off a little rough, I almost clicked away because I have zero attention span lately. But I decided to keep going and I am so glad I did because it irons out pretty quickly and by the middle of the fic I was pretty much shrieking with laughter. Oh, man, the author just totally nailed the craziness of the cast and how they interact with each other and the narratives of each character, the voice for each character is just downright fabulous. I think it was the end of Toofer's paragraph that had me practically having to look away from the fic just to purely laugh for a little while because asl;dkjfasljk LOL. (No warnings/pairings.)
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Lady of the Waves by rosehiptea - I was a little wary of click on a Katara/Yue fic, because they didn't really have any interaction and it would be difficult to get them together, I thought, but I'm really glad I did. This is a really lovely story, there's a sort of gentle strength to it that's perfect for these two characters and I really liked the mythology present in the story, it feels like it fits with the Avatar world. But most of all I love the connection between these two girls, it was lovely and perfect. ♥ (Katara/Yue.)
Bleach: to die a little by incandescens - I'm not sure what I expected to read when I clicked on this fic, but what I got was something that was really lovely and had beautiful writing and was as creepy as it was intended to be and so very tragic. I think what made me the most interested in Hinamori was her devotion to Aizen, how completely he had wrapped her around his finger and how completely it broke her when he betrayed them all, so this exploration of further continuing that tragedy and the end that it gave... it was a perfect little fic with a perfect ending. (Aizen/Hinamori.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Missione: Impossibile by pekori - This was a really cute little fic with the girls of REBORN! (and Lambo), sort of an ordinary day in admist all the chaos they would find themselves in. Just a simple idea of the girls working together to make a cake for Bianchi for her birthday, but it was sweet and gentle and just adorable for it. I love fics that focus on the girls like this, even better because it's not about excluding the boys, it's just... the girls' turn for the focus here. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Idealism of Children by readerofasaph - The more I read from this author, the more I think I'm falling in love with her style and characterization. Hibari is so dangerous here, so determined and lethal, yet there are still things he doesn't understand that Dino does. And I love the look into Dino's head here, the way he sees Hibari and why he keeps coming back and how hard this life is on him, but how much he still keeps fighting because it's the right thing to do. Plus, the hints of the fight between them are also lovely, Dino can hold his own against Hibari, even if it tires him out and I love how much you can tell it frustrates Hibari, even while he keeps going and going and going. a;sldkfjals;kj ♥ (This is entirely gen, but if you like Dino/Hibari, you might like this as well.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: For the Bones of the Dead by pollinia - This is admittedly a darker take on Dino/Hibari, but I like that sometimes, too. It's interesting to see all the violence and anger in the pairing, the way they're both screwed up in different ways. The writing is very nice and it creates a deliberately intense atmosphere that also works well for this pairing. But I think my favorite thing about this fic was the quick glimpse of Hibari's home life--so normal and mundane. Yes. Hibari totally came from a normal family, I am convinced of it. I really liked that he was obviously angry about it, despite that we've never seen Hibari show any thought toward his family in the canon, it was nicely done. (Dino/Hibari.)
Nabari no Ou: Naiveté by worblehat - I admit, during the series I developed a lingering fondness for the idea of Raikou/Raimei/Gau as an OT3, so I'm sort of, "....but where's Raimei? *sadface*" while seeing any links for Raikou/Gau fic. But that's a personal quirk and I know it. XD And this fic was very nice, the author did a great job with both characters and the way they interact, it's gentle in a way, even though they're both fighters. You can tell how much Gau hero worships Raikou and how fond of Gau Raikou is, it just comes through in the way they talk to each other, the way they touch each other. The writing is very nice, the smut just as solidly done. The Nabari fandom is really small, but this fic makes it a little more tolerable. <3 (Raikou/Gau, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Professor Layton: List of Reasons Why by sky_pirate_tat - So, I've only played the first game and the second game isn't out in English yet and I'm not sure if the third game is out in Japan yet even? And that's the game that has Claire in it? But already I think I love her. She's so elegant and lovely and I'm sure she'll have an awesome personality. So, for now, it's interesting to read fic with her in it and this just. a;slkdfjalksj I was already sort of shipping Layton/Claire already just because she seemed like the kind of character that would be great with him, but I adored her in this. Strong and determined, a little mysterious, smart and adorable, and I just absolutely loved her reaction in the final scene. Love. ♥ (Layton/Claire.)
Soul Eater: untitled? by julitina - Ooh, more fic where Stein is clearly going off the deep end and this is one of the better ones I've read in that vein, because Stein is seriously fucked up and creepy and not nice (while still being within in the limits of what I could see fitting with a series like Soul Eater), the insanity creeping up on him more and more, yet never losing how dangerous and sharp he is. I loved how Stein was such a forceful personality here, even as he's doing nothing but smiling at Spirit, I love that there's a moment when Stein has respect for their long history together, gives Spirit that one moment to back away, because yes that's the Stein I know. Insanity encroaches, but he still has moments of being sane and caring about those around him. Even if he is spectacularly messed up. Also, the last couple of paragraphs were really kind of hot. (Stein/Spirit, mild R rating.)
Tales of the Abyss: So much for my Happy Ending by laryna6 - I do feel like the author's characterization of Asch differs a little from my own, there was a little more tell versus show here than I would have liked, but... at the same time, I also looked at it like Asch and Luke being two sides of the same coin, the game made a point to show how similar they were, despite how they both would have denied that. And Asch did feel a lot like he was trying to replace Luke here, the way he would have been, even if it wasn't entirely a conscious thing. And what I really loved about this fic--aside from the idea of Asch being the one to live instead of Luke, which I am developing a growing attachment to--is the idea that life is fair and that's what makes it so unfair. I really loved the way the author played around with the balance between these two, what each stole from the other, and how Asch sees that versus how the others around him see it. I especially loved his conversations with both Natalia and Tear, because they acted just like you'd expect. Natalia wasn't having any of this bullshit (a;sdlkfjaslkj I love her so much) and Tear was a little more thoughtful and gentle, but still getting through to him, too. The way they obviously both cared and both scenes were lovely, they totally made this fic worth reading for me. The fic reminded me a lot of why I love all of these characters so much and why the game was so good at making everything hurt. (Some Asch/Natalia and Luke/Tear, but neither are entirely the point.)
Tales of the Abyss: cute by ghostbee - The style of this fic is a little bit over the top, there's a lot of thesaurus-using here it feels like, but... I think what made this fic work for me is that it feels deliberate to me. Because it's a story about Tear finding things cute, how she just can't help how adorable she finds certain things, how it sort of takes over her sometimes (because she is still a teenage girl, no matter how hard she tries to be a soldier, too), that the style worked for me. Plus, Tear/Natalia fic! That focuses on how cute they both are! I really sort of adored the way Tear looked at Natalia, all daintiness and ruffles and pretty little princess with golden hair and vivid green eyes. I-- I may be weak to Natalia fangirling, so any fic where a character is over the moon for her, I'm going to be right there along with them. And, I think, if Tear/Natalia were ever going to happen, it would go just like this. This was an adorable little fic that I'm delighted to have read. ♥ (Tear/Natalia.)
Tales of the Abyss: Inconsistency by Egg - I think what I said about a previous fic's characterization of Asch holds true for me here as well--I'm not sure it meshes completely with my own personal take, that it's more about the tell instead of the show, but I can buy it because it's set post-game (ignoring pesky things like the ending, which I am all for) and the game made a point of Luke and Asch being similar, even when they didn't want to be. So, Asch's bursts of temper worked for me here, especially in combination with Natalia's bossy take-no-bullshit attitude (asd;lfkjaslkj god I love her) and how they obviously were completely stupid over each other. The light-hearted teasing banter, the playful mood during sex--which, I admit, was what got me to click on this fic, because they seriously needed to get laid, I am all in agreement that Asch might be a whole lot less pissed off if he got laid more often--was delightful and just exactly what I wanted from them. I... I admit, I'm a total nerd for my OTP, shut up. (Asch/Natalia, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
xxxHOLiC: Tread Softly. by allira_dream - I really like the idea of this fic, that Yuuko and Clow have been a part of each other's lives nearly all their lives through their dreams, whether they really wanted that connection or not. Which maybe wasn't something they chose, but it's not entirely bad and no matter how much he annoys her sometimes, and feels very much like something that would happen in the HOLiC universe. Plus, the writing is lovely and has just the right amount of bittersweet quality from both of them to it. Just a really lovely fic. (Clow/Yuuko.)
Yami no Matsuei: Forgot About Something, Did We? by fayriefox - It's been ages since I read any Yamimatsu fic and I was journal hopping on IJ when I stumbled over this one. It's a cute little fic about Watari finally achieving his gender changing potion and how he kind of terrifies the rest of Meifu with it and yet they still can't help being nosey about it at the same time. It was a nice, light little read that was a fun explanation for why Watari was so obsessed with it and amusing for the ending bit. XD (Implied Tatsumi/Watari.)
Gintama Doujinshi (scanslated) - Cheap! - a;sdlkfja;lskjalksj I was just sort of clicking on this because I wanted another doujinshi to round out my recs for the day, I did not expect to love it as much as I did. I mean, it's a Hijikata/Okita (whom I love as a pairing, but I've kind of turned into a hardcore GinZura fan lately >__>) doujinshi where Okita crossdresses. It would take some skill to pull that off. Especially since it took, like, three pages to go right into the smut scene and it's not that I minded (because it was really kind of hot up against the wall like that, wow *__*) and the art was solidly decent, but it was the last page that really sold me on this. From the first panel to the final one, it was BEAUTIFUL. THAT IS THE GINTAMA I KNOW. XDDDD (Hijikata/Okita, NC-17.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Guruguru Tornado - Aiyoku - So, you know what I haven't done in ages and I've kind of missed? Gone on a doujin spree. I've been especially geared towards finding Tales of the Abyss doujin lately and, as long as I was looking up scanslators, I stumbled over several Naruto ones. And, hell, since I'm getting close to my deadline, why not? And a;sldkfjaslk I missed this series and this pairing more than I knew, because it took me all of about three or four pages into this file to want to keyboard mash with love all over again, because the color inserts are super hot here and the doujin!KakaIru dynamic is so much fun with Kakashi being so... cheerful about what he wants. And, as much as I love the proper art of the doujin (which is just rough enough, just detailed enough, and gives the characters enough scars and edges, that I love it), it's also the little chibi tiny little panels where Iruka is making clawing faces or Kakashi is beaming while he pounces that just as;ldkfjalksj I love this fandom. It's not a long doujin (only 10 pages or so), but it's fantastic. ♥ (Kakashi/Iruka.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Toriko - Have I mentioned that I've missed KakaIru doujinshi? Because I have. And this one is really nice, it's not very long and it's sort of pwp, but it's the best kind of pwp. The kind with characterization and insights into the characters, the way they each feel chained down by the other, but it's not entirely a bad thing. Which is the kind of KakaIru I love, where the sex is pretty and the lines are clean yet there's still rough edges around them (my favorite kind of Naruto fanart/doujin), but there's also hints of something deeper/a little bit darker going on. The artist isn't always perfect, but she has some great panels here and there and, man, is this scanslation pretty. <3 (Kakashi/Iruka, NSFW.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Night Jar - This is a little different from the doujinshi I usually read for these two, it's a different take on Iruka, who's less about having a fit at Kakashi's weirdness and more thoughtful/almost with a touch of melancholy. It's also a different reason that they're seeking each other out, not because they were initially attracted to each other, but because they were both looking for a warm body to spend the night next to, when it suddenly turned into more than that. But it's not bad, it's interesting to read something a little different once in awhile and the art is really pretty and the sex was very nice. I really like the two of them in normal clothes as well and her Kakashi is v. v. nice especially. Just a really nice little doujinshi (at a little less than 20 pages) to read, especially if you haven't had enough porn in awhile. :Db (Kakashi/Iruka, NSFW.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Money - asl;dkfjals;jk aw man this is so freaking cute. It's kind of total fluff and yet it's also kind of actually a little bit bittersweet, because Iruka feels like he's drowning in Kakashi's words, even though Kakashi has no real idea how deeply they affect him. Plus, the art is really nice, it's clean and fits well with the Naruto style and has lots of those fun little touches. Like Kakashi resting on a dolphin-shaped pillow (a;sdlkfjal;sk STFU to any haters of that bit, I love those things XD) and one of the better uses of a dolphin story that I've read. No real smut with this one, but! Lots of makeouts and Kakashi being kind of weird/silly, so it was really fun. ♥ (Kakashi/Iruka.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - B-Talk (Boys Talk) - You know what else I haven't done in ages and I always meant to go back and do? TezuFuji doujinshi recs. Because I still OTP them and there's some fantastic doujinshi out there and a lot of it will be scanslated now! \o/ At the time I was most active in the fandom, I'd seen most of these floating around, of course, but they hadn't yet been translated, which is one of the nice things about going back after all this time. I chose a Kain doujin first because I really liked her work, she's one of those artists where... when you just look at her art quickly, you sort of wonder what the fuss is about, I suspect. But the more you look at her work, the more you kinda fall in love with it. I think this is one of her older ones, but it still has a ton of details and she does a fabulous job at the surprisingly subtle tone to the Tezuka/Fuji pairing, even when it's something as simple as a group fireworks party on a summer night, just the four of them, then just the two of them alone, her characterization is lovely. Tezuka is serious but not emotionless, Fuji is playful but not evil, the two of them quietly intimate with each other. And also the sex is really pretty, certain panels are just lovely. <3 (Tezuka/Fuji, not hardcore, but definitely NSFW.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Cotton Life - Another doujinshi by Kain and, well, I imagine that you're probably only going to like Kain's doujinshi if you're open to the idea of Tezuka/Fuji in the first place, but. Man, am I ever. I love her art, I love how much detail she puts into her books, the backgrounds look amazing, the clothes look amazing, and I really do love the long-limbed look she has for the characters, I can believe they're athletes. This doujinshi is also somewhat simple in concept--Tezuka is still keeping an eye on the tennis club while he's working on his own separate regime for his arm, then invites Fuji over and it goes about where you'd think it would go. I still love her characterization, the way they're slightly different around each other because no one else is watching and they can be open about it, but they're still themselves. Also, porn is awesome. \o/ (Tezuka/Fuji, not hardcore, but definitely NSFW.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Deep Forest - Another Kain doujin, yes, but a;slkdjfalskj I love her work so much because I become acclimated to the art style and it just works for me, plus I love love love the quiet understanding between Tezuka and Fuji. The things that don't have to be said, because even if they're not entirely similar, they're both insightful enough and open enough with each other to understand. It's one of the things that I harped on a lot back during my time in the fandom and it's so satisfying to see it reflected in a story like this. It's another pretty simple concept--Inui plans to win against Tezuka in the upcoming ranking tournament and wants Fuji to show him his serious side if he does, which doesn't precisely unsettle Fuji, yet... it doesn't not affect both Tezuka and Fuji. Plus asl;dkfjals;kj I loved that Tezuka/Inui match so much, because Tezuka just wiped the floor with Inui and I love the implication of why that this doujin presented. (Tezuka/Fuji, implied one-sided Inui/Fuji.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Favorite Winter - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] D-Amb is another circle that you probably have to be open to the idea of Tezuka/Fuji first and is a bit of an acquired taste, I suspect. But... scenes in the snow! Fuji putting a scarf around Tezuka's shoulders while snow falls around them! I have my needs, okay. The story is pretty simple--Tezuka and Fuji aren't going to the same school once they graduate, which sends Fuji a little off-balance, until he realizes that Tezuka will be lonely, too, and then porn. \o/ Which is really all I'm looking for from doujinshi a lot of the time. The art isn't my absolute favorite, but I like it and certain panels are lovely, plus the omake comic is kind of super great and it was a nice addition to my TezuFuji fix for the day. (Tezuka/Fuji, somewhere around NC-17.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Let's Go - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] ....y-yes, I am going to rec pretty much every TezuFuji doujinshi on this post, at least from the circles I recognize. And B.S.CO is one of my favorite circles because... her art isn't flashy in the usual way, but it's got a wonderful smooth, clean, and surprisingly detailed style to it. It's the little details that really make me appreciate her work the most, but... w-well, it's also that... there are only a few doujinshika that could make me read a doujin where Fuji cross-dresses and this is one of them because he is so clearly having fun fucking with everyone over it. I love it because the OC (the girl who's in charge of the cafe with them and lent Fuji and Eiji the dresses) is great, I love it because Eiji tries to whine his way out of it, but that doesn't work, I love it because Oshitari makes a cameo and it is pure fucking LOL because he's just that much of a dork and foul-mouthed Fuji is so awesome, that I believe it would go just like that. And then Atobe shows up and I just spend the entire rest of the doujinshi shrieking with laughter. ....shut up, I like this kind of thing, okay? It makes me laugh when done this well. Same for little teddy bear Fujiko, who is actually PURE EVIL when it's anyone other than Tezuka and I just. as;ldkfjask shut up, I love it, okay. Fuji fucking with everyone just makes my day complete. ♥ (Tezuka/Fuji. Implied-but-not-serious Oshitari/Fuji and Atobe/Fuji. The doujin is mostly PG-rated, except for the last couple of pages, which are a hard R.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Loveholic - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] This portrayal of Tezuka may not be to everyone's taste, I have to admit that it gave me pause several times, that Tezuka would let his jealousy rule his emotions so thoroughly like that, to the point that... well, he wasn't forcing Fuji, who was willing enough, but it wasn't the usual dynamic either. What saved it for me was the aftermath, when Fuji finally answers Tezuka's question and then wants to know why Tezuka was acting like that, which he has the right to know... and Tezuka agrees. It's obviously a little uncomfortable for him, but he's direct about owing that to Fuji and a;sdlkfjalskj yes that's the Tezuka I know. Also, Tezuka being in a foul mood and scaring the crap out of Eiji and the seriously long as hell sex scene and then Kain's art and it was, like, sixty pages long for the whole doujin and yet it just sailed right by... this is why I read doujinshi. *___* (Tezuka/Fuji, NC-17.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Panic Box - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] a;sdlkfjal;ksjaslk oh god as if I didn't love Kain enough before this, she just randomly gives them cat ears and tails, then gets them to have sex. That's the entire point of the doujinshi and it's really kind of super-awesome because her art has gotten even hotter and the cat ears/tail really do suit each of them and the sex is very sweet and pretty and it's just. Look. Okay. I know that sometimes I'm That Fan, but I can't help it, especially when it's something really fun and awesome like this. I-- I really can't express how gleeful this doujinshi made me. Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Red - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] After the other doujinshi I read from the same post, it's kind of marveling to go to a more traditional-looking doujinshi where there's almost no backgrounds, there's more white space than just about anything, and everything is really soft and only lightly detailed. I'm getting spoiled by other circles, I imagine. But I wanted to rec this one anyway because there is never enough porn in the world, especially not when the drawings are pretty and it's with Tezuka/Fuji and a sweet little story about their first time together. Probably not going to be for everyone, but if you like them as much as I do, you'll probably enjoy it. (Tezuka/Fuji, NSFW.)
Tales of the Abyss Doujinshi (scanslated) - Fade - as;ldkfja;slkjalsjk omg omg omg. ELEPHAN is one of my favorite artist for Tales of the Abyss, even aside from her fondness for Asch/Natalia, her work is just simply gorgeous. Reading this doujinshi, which I never would have thought fandom would give me, but I am so so glad they did, every single page was just beautiful to look at. All of her characters are gorgeous, of course, but the focus on Natalia, the beautiful lines and shading for her hair and eyes, you can tell how much she really loves this series and these characters. The storyline is about Natalia coming to realize the full impact of Luke and Asch being different people, the connection to the person she had the promise with will never fade, but that doesn't mean her childhood memories were half lies, either. I love her interaction with nearly everyone in the main cast here, that was one of the best things about the game, that it explored everyone's feelings and their connections with each other over the events that happened to them. This is one of those doujinshi that's everything I could ask for from fandom, even if you're not that fond of the character/pairing (asd;lkfjaslk Asch/Natalia OTP so hard omg), I'd suggest giving it a look over anyway. (Implied Asch/Natalia, though, it's not entirely the point.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ English Fanart Site ] - You know, for all the REBORN! fanart that you can find on devART, there aren't that many accounts (that I've been able to find so far) that have enough art to really rec. But! This one has some really nice Xanxus/Squalo art! Which there always needs to be more of in fandom! There's also one with Bel/Squalo and that is so totally a pet pairing of me, so I would have loved the artist for that anyway. But mostly it's the Xanxus/Squalo, because I am seriously weak to stuff like umbrellas in the rain or lounging around shirtless and the more current you get, the more I like the artist's work. I'd definitely like to see more from her. (Xanxus/Squalo.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ English Fanart Site ] - I was browsing a doujinshi post earlier and the OP linked to the artists' websites and I realized that I'd never been to this site before. I'd kind of given up on finding new D18 sites because I've seen so many of them by now, I half-suspect there aren't many good sites left that I haven't seen. And I was sort of getting impatient with this site, I started clicking around randomly, until I got to the artist's more recent stuff. The older stuff is messier and it's definitely the artist's style, it's her more recent art that really got to me and turned kind of super-hot. What I really love about this site is that there's a lot of touching between the characters, even when it's pretty PG (if even that), hands on faces or an arm over the shoulder or Dino pulling Hibari close, it's obvious what kind of relationship they have without having to be too much about it. Plus, there are also some really nice sketches of the rest of the series' characters in the other parts of the gallery! So, basically, the site starts out a little rough, but I recommend sticking with it because it has some super fantastic stuff to be found eventually. *___* (Dino/Hibari, some gen.)

30 Rock: Two Random B-Plots Make One Very Special Episode by boundbyspells - This fic started off a little rough, I almost clicked away because I have zero attention span lately. But I decided to keep going and I am so glad I did because it irons out pretty quickly and by the middle of the fic I was pretty much shrieking with laughter. Oh, man, the author just totally nailed the craziness of the cast and how they interact with each other and the narratives of each character, the voice for each character is just downright fabulous. I think it was the end of Toofer's paragraph that had me practically having to look away from the fic just to purely laugh for a little while because asl;dkjfasljk LOL. (No warnings/pairings.)
Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Lady of the Waves by rosehiptea - I was a little wary of click on a Katara/Yue fic, because they didn't really have any interaction and it would be difficult to get them together, I thought, but I'm really glad I did. This is a really lovely story, there's a sort of gentle strength to it that's perfect for these two characters and I really liked the mythology present in the story, it feels like it fits with the Avatar world. But most of all I love the connection between these two girls, it was lovely and perfect. ♥ (Katara/Yue.)
Bleach: to die a little by incandescens - I'm not sure what I expected to read when I clicked on this fic, but what I got was something that was really lovely and had beautiful writing and was as creepy as it was intended to be and so very tragic. I think what made me the most interested in Hinamori was her devotion to Aizen, how completely he had wrapped her around his finger and how completely it broke her when he betrayed them all, so this exploration of further continuing that tragedy and the end that it gave... it was a perfect little fic with a perfect ending. (Aizen/Hinamori.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Missione: Impossibile by pekori - This was a really cute little fic with the girls of REBORN! (and Lambo), sort of an ordinary day in admist all the chaos they would find themselves in. Just a simple idea of the girls working together to make a cake for Bianchi for her birthday, but it was sweet and gentle and just adorable for it. I love fics that focus on the girls like this, even better because it's not about excluding the boys, it's just... the girls' turn for the focus here. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Idealism of Children by readerofasaph - The more I read from this author, the more I think I'm falling in love with her style and characterization. Hibari is so dangerous here, so determined and lethal, yet there are still things he doesn't understand that Dino does. And I love the look into Dino's head here, the way he sees Hibari and why he keeps coming back and how hard this life is on him, but how much he still keeps fighting because it's the right thing to do. Plus, the hints of the fight between them are also lovely, Dino can hold his own against Hibari, even if it tires him out and I love how much you can tell it frustrates Hibari, even while he keeps going and going and going. a;sldkfjals;kj ♥ (This is entirely gen, but if you like Dino/Hibari, you might like this as well.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: For the Bones of the Dead by pollinia - This is admittedly a darker take on Dino/Hibari, but I like that sometimes, too. It's interesting to see all the violence and anger in the pairing, the way they're both screwed up in different ways. The writing is very nice and it creates a deliberately intense atmosphere that also works well for this pairing. But I think my favorite thing about this fic was the quick glimpse of Hibari's home life--so normal and mundane. Yes. Hibari totally came from a normal family, I am convinced of it. I really liked that he was obviously angry about it, despite that we've never seen Hibari show any thought toward his family in the canon, it was nicely done. (Dino/Hibari.)
Nabari no Ou: Naiveté by worblehat - I admit, during the series I developed a lingering fondness for the idea of Raikou/Raimei/Gau as an OT3, so I'm sort of, "....but where's Raimei? *sadface*" while seeing any links for Raikou/Gau fic. But that's a personal quirk and I know it. XD And this fic was very nice, the author did a great job with both characters and the way they interact, it's gentle in a way, even though they're both fighters. You can tell how much Gau hero worships Raikou and how fond of Gau Raikou is, it just comes through in the way they talk to each other, the way they touch each other. The writing is very nice, the smut just as solidly done. The Nabari fandom is really small, but this fic makes it a little more tolerable. <3 (Raikou/Gau, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Professor Layton: List of Reasons Why by sky_pirate_tat - So, I've only played the first game and the second game isn't out in English yet and I'm not sure if the third game is out in Japan yet even? And that's the game that has Claire in it? But already I think I love her. She's so elegant and lovely and I'm sure she'll have an awesome personality. So, for now, it's interesting to read fic with her in it and this just. a;slkdfjalksj I was already sort of shipping Layton/Claire already just because she seemed like the kind of character that would be great with him, but I adored her in this. Strong and determined, a little mysterious, smart and adorable, and I just absolutely loved her reaction in the final scene. Love. ♥ (Layton/Claire.)
Soul Eater: untitled? by julitina - Ooh, more fic where Stein is clearly going off the deep end and this is one of the better ones I've read in that vein, because Stein is seriously fucked up and creepy and not nice (while still being within in the limits of what I could see fitting with a series like Soul Eater), the insanity creeping up on him more and more, yet never losing how dangerous and sharp he is. I loved how Stein was such a forceful personality here, even as he's doing nothing but smiling at Spirit, I love that there's a moment when Stein has respect for their long history together, gives Spirit that one moment to back away, because yes that's the Stein I know. Insanity encroaches, but he still has moments of being sane and caring about those around him. Even if he is spectacularly messed up. Also, the last couple of paragraphs were really kind of hot. (Stein/Spirit, mild R rating.)
Tales of the Abyss: So much for my Happy Ending by laryna6 - I do feel like the author's characterization of Asch differs a little from my own, there was a little more tell versus show here than I would have liked, but... at the same time, I also looked at it like Asch and Luke being two sides of the same coin, the game made a point to show how similar they were, despite how they both would have denied that. And Asch did feel a lot like he was trying to replace Luke here, the way he would have been, even if it wasn't entirely a conscious thing. And what I really loved about this fic--aside from the idea of Asch being the one to live instead of Luke, which I am developing a growing attachment to--is the idea that life is fair and that's what makes it so unfair. I really loved the way the author played around with the balance between these two, what each stole from the other, and how Asch sees that versus how the others around him see it. I especially loved his conversations with both Natalia and Tear, because they acted just like you'd expect. Natalia wasn't having any of this bullshit (a;sdlkfjaslkj I love her so much) and Tear was a little more thoughtful and gentle, but still getting through to him, too. The way they obviously both cared and both scenes were lovely, they totally made this fic worth reading for me. The fic reminded me a lot of why I love all of these characters so much and why the game was so good at making everything hurt. (Some Asch/Natalia and Luke/Tear, but neither are entirely the point.)
Tales of the Abyss: cute by ghostbee - The style of this fic is a little bit over the top, there's a lot of thesaurus-using here it feels like, but... I think what made this fic work for me is that it feels deliberate to me. Because it's a story about Tear finding things cute, how she just can't help how adorable she finds certain things, how it sort of takes over her sometimes (because she is still a teenage girl, no matter how hard she tries to be a soldier, too), that the style worked for me. Plus, Tear/Natalia fic! That focuses on how cute they both are! I really sort of adored the way Tear looked at Natalia, all daintiness and ruffles and pretty little princess with golden hair and vivid green eyes. I-- I may be weak to Natalia fangirling, so any fic where a character is over the moon for her, I'm going to be right there along with them. And, I think, if Tear/Natalia were ever going to happen, it would go just like this. This was an adorable little fic that I'm delighted to have read. ♥ (Tear/Natalia.)
Tales of the Abyss: Inconsistency by Egg - I think what I said about a previous fic's characterization of Asch holds true for me here as well--I'm not sure it meshes completely with my own personal take, that it's more about the tell instead of the show, but I can buy it because it's set post-game (ignoring pesky things like the ending, which I am all for) and the game made a point of Luke and Asch being similar, even when they didn't want to be. So, Asch's bursts of temper worked for me here, especially in combination with Natalia's bossy take-no-bullshit attitude (asd;lfkjaslkj god I love her) and how they obviously were completely stupid over each other. The light-hearted teasing banter, the playful mood during sex--which, I admit, was what got me to click on this fic, because they seriously needed to get laid, I am all in agreement that Asch might be a whole lot less pissed off if he got laid more often--was delightful and just exactly what I wanted from them. I... I admit, I'm a total nerd for my OTP, shut up. (Asch/Natalia, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
xxxHOLiC: Tread Softly. by allira_dream - I really like the idea of this fic, that Yuuko and Clow have been a part of each other's lives nearly all their lives through their dreams, whether they really wanted that connection or not. Which maybe wasn't something they chose, but it's not entirely bad and no matter how much he annoys her sometimes, and feels very much like something that would happen in the HOLiC universe. Plus, the writing is lovely and has just the right amount of bittersweet quality from both of them to it. Just a really lovely fic. (Clow/Yuuko.)
Yami no Matsuei: Forgot About Something, Did We? by fayriefox - It's been ages since I read any Yamimatsu fic and I was journal hopping on IJ when I stumbled over this one. It's a cute little fic about Watari finally achieving his gender changing potion and how he kind of terrifies the rest of Meifu with it and yet they still can't help being nosey about it at the same time. It was a nice, light little read that was a fun explanation for why Watari was so obsessed with it and amusing for the ending bit. XD (Implied Tatsumi/Watari.)
Gintama Doujinshi (scanslated) - Cheap! - a;sdlkfja;lskjalksj I was just sort of clicking on this because I wanted another doujinshi to round out my recs for the day, I did not expect to love it as much as I did. I mean, it's a Hijikata/Okita (whom I love as a pairing, but I've kind of turned into a hardcore GinZura fan lately >__>) doujinshi where Okita crossdresses. It would take some skill to pull that off. Especially since it took, like, three pages to go right into the smut scene and it's not that I minded (because it was really kind of hot up against the wall like that, wow *__*) and the art was solidly decent, but it was the last page that really sold me on this. From the first panel to the final one, it was BEAUTIFUL. THAT IS THE GINTAMA I KNOW. XDDDD (Hijikata/Okita, NC-17.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Guruguru Tornado - Aiyoku - So, you know what I haven't done in ages and I've kind of missed? Gone on a doujin spree. I've been especially geared towards finding Tales of the Abyss doujin lately and, as long as I was looking up scanslators, I stumbled over several Naruto ones. And, hell, since I'm getting close to my deadline, why not? And a;sldkfjaslk I missed this series and this pairing more than I knew, because it took me all of about three or four pages into this file to want to keyboard mash with love all over again, because the color inserts are super hot here and the doujin!KakaIru dynamic is so much fun with Kakashi being so... cheerful about what he wants. And, as much as I love the proper art of the doujin (which is just rough enough, just detailed enough, and gives the characters enough scars and edges, that I love it), it's also the little chibi tiny little panels where Iruka is making clawing faces or Kakashi is beaming while he pounces that just as;ldkfjalksj I love this fandom. It's not a long doujin (only 10 pages or so), but it's fantastic. ♥ (Kakashi/Iruka.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Toriko - Have I mentioned that I've missed KakaIru doujinshi? Because I have. And this one is really nice, it's not very long and it's sort of pwp, but it's the best kind of pwp. The kind with characterization and insights into the characters, the way they each feel chained down by the other, but it's not entirely a bad thing. Which is the kind of KakaIru I love, where the sex is pretty and the lines are clean yet there's still rough edges around them (my favorite kind of Naruto fanart/doujin), but there's also hints of something deeper/a little bit darker going on. The artist isn't always perfect, but she has some great panels here and there and, man, is this scanslation pretty. <3 (Kakashi/Iruka, NSFW.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Night Jar - This is a little different from the doujinshi I usually read for these two, it's a different take on Iruka, who's less about having a fit at Kakashi's weirdness and more thoughtful/almost with a touch of melancholy. It's also a different reason that they're seeking each other out, not because they were initially attracted to each other, but because they were both looking for a warm body to spend the night next to, when it suddenly turned into more than that. But it's not bad, it's interesting to read something a little different once in awhile and the art is really pretty and the sex was very nice. I really like the two of them in normal clothes as well and her Kakashi is v. v. nice especially. Just a really nice little doujinshi (at a little less than 20 pages) to read, especially if you haven't had enough porn in awhile. :Db (Kakashi/Iruka, NSFW.)
Naruto Doujinshi (scanslated) - Money - asl;dkfjals;jk aw man this is so freaking cute. It's kind of total fluff and yet it's also kind of actually a little bit bittersweet, because Iruka feels like he's drowning in Kakashi's words, even though Kakashi has no real idea how deeply they affect him. Plus, the art is really nice, it's clean and fits well with the Naruto style and has lots of those fun little touches. Like Kakashi resting on a dolphin-shaped pillow (a;sdlkfjal;sk STFU to any haters of that bit, I love those things XD) and one of the better uses of a dolphin story that I've read. No real smut with this one, but! Lots of makeouts and Kakashi being kind of weird/silly, so it was really fun. ♥ (Kakashi/Iruka.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - B-Talk (Boys Talk) - You know what else I haven't done in ages and I always meant to go back and do? TezuFuji doujinshi recs. Because I still OTP them and there's some fantastic doujinshi out there and a lot of it will be scanslated now! \o/ At the time I was most active in the fandom, I'd seen most of these floating around, of course, but they hadn't yet been translated, which is one of the nice things about going back after all this time. I chose a Kain doujin first because I really liked her work, she's one of those artists where... when you just look at her art quickly, you sort of wonder what the fuss is about, I suspect. But the more you look at her work, the more you kinda fall in love with it. I think this is one of her older ones, but it still has a ton of details and she does a fabulous job at the surprisingly subtle tone to the Tezuka/Fuji pairing, even when it's something as simple as a group fireworks party on a summer night, just the four of them, then just the two of them alone, her characterization is lovely. Tezuka is serious but not emotionless, Fuji is playful but not evil, the two of them quietly intimate with each other. And also the sex is really pretty, certain panels are just lovely. <3 (Tezuka/Fuji, not hardcore, but definitely NSFW.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Cotton Life - Another doujinshi by Kain and, well, I imagine that you're probably only going to like Kain's doujinshi if you're open to the idea of Tezuka/Fuji in the first place, but. Man, am I ever. I love her art, I love how much detail she puts into her books, the backgrounds look amazing, the clothes look amazing, and I really do love the long-limbed look she has for the characters, I can believe they're athletes. This doujinshi is also somewhat simple in concept--Tezuka is still keeping an eye on the tennis club while he's working on his own separate regime for his arm, then invites Fuji over and it goes about where you'd think it would go. I still love her characterization, the way they're slightly different around each other because no one else is watching and they can be open about it, but they're still themselves. Also, porn is awesome. \o/ (Tezuka/Fuji, not hardcore, but definitely NSFW.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Deep Forest - Another Kain doujin, yes, but a;slkdjfalskj I love her work so much because I become acclimated to the art style and it just works for me, plus I love love love the quiet understanding between Tezuka and Fuji. The things that don't have to be said, because even if they're not entirely similar, they're both insightful enough and open enough with each other to understand. It's one of the things that I harped on a lot back during my time in the fandom and it's so satisfying to see it reflected in a story like this. It's another pretty simple concept--Inui plans to win against Tezuka in the upcoming ranking tournament and wants Fuji to show him his serious side if he does, which doesn't precisely unsettle Fuji, yet... it doesn't not affect both Tezuka and Fuji. Plus asl;dkfjals;kj I loved that Tezuka/Inui match so much, because Tezuka just wiped the floor with Inui and I love the implication of why that this doujin presented. (Tezuka/Fuji, implied one-sided Inui/Fuji.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Favorite Winter - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] D-Amb is another circle that you probably have to be open to the idea of Tezuka/Fuji first and is a bit of an acquired taste, I suspect. But... scenes in the snow! Fuji putting a scarf around Tezuka's shoulders while snow falls around them! I have my needs, okay. The story is pretty simple--Tezuka and Fuji aren't going to the same school once they graduate, which sends Fuji a little off-balance, until he realizes that Tezuka will be lonely, too, and then porn. \o/ Which is really all I'm looking for from doujinshi a lot of the time. The art isn't my absolute favorite, but I like it and certain panels are lovely, plus the omake comic is kind of super great and it was a nice addition to my TezuFuji fix for the day. (Tezuka/Fuji, somewhere around NC-17.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Let's Go - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] ....y-yes, I am going to rec pretty much every TezuFuji doujinshi on this post, at least from the circles I recognize. And B.S.CO is one of my favorite circles because... her art isn't flashy in the usual way, but it's got a wonderful smooth, clean, and surprisingly detailed style to it. It's the little details that really make me appreciate her work the most, but... w-well, it's also that... there are only a few doujinshika that could make me read a doujin where Fuji cross-dresses and this is one of them because he is so clearly having fun fucking with everyone over it. I love it because the OC (the girl who's in charge of the cafe with them and lent Fuji and Eiji the dresses) is great, I love it because Eiji tries to whine his way out of it, but that doesn't work, I love it because Oshitari makes a cameo and it is pure fucking LOL because he's just that much of a dork and foul-mouthed Fuji is so awesome, that I believe it would go just like that. And then Atobe shows up and I just spend the entire rest of the doujinshi shrieking with laughter. ....shut up, I like this kind of thing, okay? It makes me laugh when done this well. Same for little teddy bear Fujiko, who is actually PURE EVIL when it's anyone other than Tezuka and I just. as;ldkfjask shut up, I love it, okay. Fuji fucking with everyone just makes my day complete. ♥ (Tezuka/Fuji. Implied-but-not-serious Oshitari/Fuji and Atobe/Fuji. The doujin is mostly PG-rated, except for the last couple of pages, which are a hard R.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Loveholic - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] This portrayal of Tezuka may not be to everyone's taste, I have to admit that it gave me pause several times, that Tezuka would let his jealousy rule his emotions so thoroughly like that, to the point that... well, he wasn't forcing Fuji, who was willing enough, but it wasn't the usual dynamic either. What saved it for me was the aftermath, when Fuji finally answers Tezuka's question and then wants to know why Tezuka was acting like that, which he has the right to know... and Tezuka agrees. It's obviously a little uncomfortable for him, but he's direct about owing that to Fuji and a;sdlkfjalskj yes that's the Tezuka I know. Also, Tezuka being in a foul mood and scaring the crap out of Eiji and the seriously long as hell sex scene and then Kain's art and it was, like, sixty pages long for the whole doujin and yet it just sailed right by... this is why I read doujinshi. *___* (Tezuka/Fuji, NC-17.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Panic Box - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] a;sdlkfjal;ksjaslk oh god as if I didn't love Kain enough before this, she just randomly gives them cat ears and tails, then gets them to have sex. That's the entire point of the doujinshi and it's really kind of super-awesome because her art has gotten even hotter and the cat ears/tail really do suit each of them and the sex is very sweet and pretty and it's just. Look. Okay. I know that sometimes I'm That Fan, but I can't help it, especially when it's something really fun and awesome like this. I-- I really can't express how gleeful this doujinshi made me. Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Red - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a little to find this one.] After the other doujinshi I read from the same post, it's kind of marveling to go to a more traditional-looking doujinshi where there's almost no backgrounds, there's more white space than just about anything, and everything is really soft and only lightly detailed. I'm getting spoiled by other circles, I imagine. But I wanted to rec this one anyway because there is never enough porn in the world, especially not when the drawings are pretty and it's with Tezuka/Fuji and a sweet little story about their first time together. Probably not going to be for everyone, but if you like them as much as I do, you'll probably enjoy it. (Tezuka/Fuji, NSFW.)
Tales of the Abyss Doujinshi (scanslated) - Fade - as;ldkfja;slkjalsjk omg omg omg. ELEPHAN is one of my favorite artist for Tales of the Abyss, even aside from her fondness for Asch/Natalia, her work is just simply gorgeous. Reading this doujinshi, which I never would have thought fandom would give me, but I am so so glad they did, every single page was just beautiful to look at. All of her characters are gorgeous, of course, but the focus on Natalia, the beautiful lines and shading for her hair and eyes, you can tell how much she really loves this series and these characters. The storyline is about Natalia coming to realize the full impact of Luke and Asch being different people, the connection to the person she had the promise with will never fade, but that doesn't mean her childhood memories were half lies, either. I love her interaction with nearly everyone in the main cast here, that was one of the best things about the game, that it explored everyone's feelings and their connections with each other over the events that happened to them. This is one of those doujinshi that's everything I could ask for from fandom, even if you're not that fond of the character/pairing (asd;lkfjaslk Asch/Natalia OTP so hard omg), I'd suggest giving it a look over anyway. (Implied Asch/Natalia, though, it's not entirely the point.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ English Fanart Site ] - You know, for all the REBORN! fanart that you can find on devART, there aren't that many accounts (that I've been able to find so far) that have enough art to really rec. But! This one has some really nice Xanxus/Squalo art! Which there always needs to be more of in fandom! There's also one with Bel/Squalo and that is so totally a pet pairing of me, so I would have loved the artist for that anyway. But mostly it's the Xanxus/Squalo, because I am seriously weak to stuff like umbrellas in the rain or lounging around shirtless and the more current you get, the more I like the artist's work. I'd definitely like to see more from her. (Xanxus/Squalo.) - Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ English Fanart Site ] - I was browsing a doujinshi post earlier and the OP linked to the artists' websites and I realized that I'd never been to this site before. I'd kind of given up on finding new D18 sites because I've seen so many of them by now, I half-suspect there aren't many good sites left that I haven't seen. And I was sort of getting impatient with this site, I started clicking around randomly, until I got to the artist's more recent stuff. The older stuff is messier and it's definitely the artist's style, it's her more recent art that really got to me and turned kind of super-hot. What I really love about this site is that there's a lot of touching between the characters, even when it's pretty PG (if even that), hands on faces or an arm over the shoulder or Dino pulling Hibari close, it's obvious what kind of relationship they have without having to be too much about it. Plus, there are also some really nice sketches of the rest of the series' characters in the other parts of the gallery! So, basically, the site starts out a little rough, but I recommend sticking with it because it has some super fantastic stuff to be found eventually. *___* (Dino/Hibari, some gen.)

As to ff.net... I cheat. I find decent authors and go through their favorites. Usually only end up with one really good one if that, but it's certainly better than straight browsing. XP
