Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: The Picture Book. by ranty_rie - Oh, this was a wonderful little Tsuna fic. The previous Tsuna fic I read the other day got me back into a mood for his character because I really do adore him and how hard he tries and how much he's growing as a person, even when he's still a little bit "no good Tsuna" because he's not there yet. This fic does a lovely job of showing how all these people in his life have changed it and getting all of their characterizations down in such great little snippets, the pictures that Tsuna takes of them are great, I would totally browse through that photobook. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: On a Ledge by botling - You know, I haven't read the manga in ages because I've not been that thrilled with the Millefiore arc, but... I am intrigued by Byakuran and Shouichi, they're the two most interesting (to me) characters to have come out of this arc and this short fic packs in all of what intrigues me about them, Byakuran especially. He's just smiling and watching Shouichi here, then pressing him into a chair to kiss him, and it's so... such graceful, dangerous thoughts, so interesting here. Makes me want to pick up the manga again. (Byakuran/Shouichi.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: White Noise by botling - Another short piece on Byakuran and Shouichi, but it's another one where I'm growing further and further fond of the two of them and really like the way this author writes, there's something really pretty and well-done about it, some sort of something that fits the feeling of these two characters. I love her little bits of details about them, I love the setting, and just a;slkdjaslkj they're so interesting here, even in such a brief fic. (Byakuran/Shouichi.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Lasciate Ogne Speranza by Belladonna - So, being a total nerd for Hibari's character makes me both prone to wanting to read as much about him as I can, but also wary of reading fic that doesn't agree with the way I see him, but this was... this was actually really lovely. There's a coldness to the tone of the piece that isn't precisely icy and not entirely uncaring in a Hibari-like way, but it's not overdone emo, either. It's hard to describe. But it's really pretty writing and I can totally see Hibari like this, the background story of the cat he had as a pet when younger felt pretty spot-on to me. I really like the voice for Hibari here, too, and asd;flkjas the ending, man. (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Duet by Belladonna - as;ldkfjaslkjs Hibariiiiiiii, omg I am so ridiculously in love with his character, but it's hard to feel all that embarrassed about it when it means I get to be delighted over little fics like this one, ones that have action scenes in them. The fight between Mukuro and Hibari is gorgeous here, it's vicious and dangerous and intense and powerful, both of them such lethal opponents. I love the Hibari characterization here, I love that he's so dangerous and I wouldn't want to cross him in a dark alley, even as Mukuro is probably letting him win. And a;sldkfjasl;jk Hibari's reaction is spot-on. (This is entirely gen, but if you like Mukuro/Hibari you should like this.)
Prince of Tennis: Unfinished Business by Lys ap Adin - This was an interesting fic, set in the future for Yuuta and Mizuki, the two of them running into each other years after the canon ended and I like what the author has created for them here, both the future that they each found for themselves and the way they look at each other and interact with each other now. My favorite thing about this was definitely that I liked this Yuuta and Mizuki together (not that I don't always like them together, but they're tricky sometimes) and how much Mizuki genuinely thought well of Yuuta. It was a very nice read today. (Mizuki/Yuuta, maybe not quite SFW.)
Prince of Tennis: Boundary Line by measuringlife - You know, for all that Tezuka is my favorite.. there is also something incredibly satisfying for me about a well-written Fuji fic. He's a fascinating character and his friendship with Tezuka only makes him even more fascinating to me, which this fic captured so very well. I love all the things that were said and all the things that weren't said, a dynamic that is difficult to achieve with two characters like this, but this fic did it marvelously. And I love that this was really a friendship fic and not meant to be a pairing fic (though, you could probably take it that way if you wanted, but no smoochies were being implied, honest XD), that it was truly about how there's something there, sometimes no one understands either of them better, sometimes no one else frustrates or angers them like the other, it focused on the two of them, even as they interacted with other people--and I loved Fuji's friendships with Saeki and Eiji and Inui and Yuuta here, it made the fic feel all the more fully realized for it. ♥ (This is entirely gen, but if you like Tezuka/Fuji you should like this.)
Gintama Doujinshi (scanslated) - Transistor Complex - This is a really short doujinshi... not so much in page length (it's over 20 pages) but in terms of what it got accomplished. There's practically no plot to speak of, aside from Okita thinking about Hijikata and how he's trying to get his attention and how his words conflict with his actions. And yet... I don't know, somehow I adored it anyway. The art is very nice, there are a handful of panels that are just really beautiful, and I loved the flashbacks a lot, they both looked wonderful when they were younger. And I do really like the idea that this could tie into a lot of why Okita is such an evil demon to Hijikata, if you stop to consider it for awhile. ....sort of. XD (Hijikata/Okita.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated) - BiriBiri - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the link for this doujinshi.] Okay, this one was pretty much pure porn. The plot seriously goes like the Strawhats arrive at an island --> they rent cabins, one for boys, one for girls --> Sanji has to give Zoro directions to the cabin --> PORN! \o/ It's all a thin excuse to draw smutty doujinshi and, you know, I'm totally fine with that. That's what I read doujinshi for. And the art of this one is really pretty. It's the graphic sort, which means all the usual extra details, but the basic art is really pretty and I thought the sex itself was pretty solidly decent for doujinshi porn and some of the panels were really pretty! Hard to ask for more than that. XD (Zoro/Sanji, NC-17.)
One Piece Doujinshi (raw) - Kimi wa Tomodachi - [ book 01 + book 02 ] - Okay, I wanted to stay away from recommending raw OP doujinshi, because there were enough scanslated ones that I was going to stick to just those. But then this one came along and it did a few things that totally made me cave--first off, FOX AND TIGER EARS. I AM WEAK, SHUT UP. Second, gorgeous art. The covers are just stunning and the inside art looks beautiful on every single page and, oh, what I wouldn't do for scanslations. Three, while this is all about the Zoro/Sanji porno, there was Sanji + Robin interaction in the beginning of the first one, THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE OF THAT, JAPAN. (And some porno of those two would be nice, too, plz.) And, four, porno! \o/ Really pretty porno, too! So, even if it's raw, it's worth flipping through for the art and the sex and the prettypretty art and the animal ears and the super pretty art and, okay, maybe I'm just weak and it will have only hit me this hard, shut up. >__> (Zoro/Sanji, NSFW.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Mamemitsu 2 - [Note: This is a sequel to the previous Mamemitsu doujinshi, it would help to have read that one first.] asl;dfjkaslkj oh god as if the first Mamemitsu doujinshi wasn't great enough, this one was even better. I laughed so hard at just the right points and was totally cooing at just the right points and appreciative of the art at just the right points--which still kind of keeps surprising me. I kind of want to just chalk this doujinshi up as a gag one that wouldn't have very good art, but there are actually several panels of Fuji that are really pretty. Still. I read this one for the humor, because little mini-Tezuka meeting the real Tezuka? The hijinks this causes? a;sdlkfjasl;kj LOL. (Tezuka/Fuji.)

Also, it is the sequel to two other doujinshi in this series, it would help to have read those first.] And as;dlkfjasl;kjs this series just keeps getting better. The art improves with each one, the beginning panels of Fuji were really pretty and I totally sighed happily over the kiss in this one, not just because of the sense of, "Oh, finally. ♥" but also because it was really pretty. Ryoma looked really nicely drawn in this series as well, I loved the scene of little Mamemitsu "painting" on his face! Plus, OH MAN Mamemitsu continues to be SO DAMNED CUTE and I just-- I just want to pick him up and hug him, too! asldk;fjals;kj SO MUCH FUN and getting to be SO PRETTY and FINALLY MAKEOUTS! \o/ I couldn't ask for much more. (Tezuka/Fuji.)
Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (scanslated) - Mamemitsu 4 - [Note: This is part of a series, it would help to have read the previous Mamemitsu doujinshi to understand this one.] So. When you read a summary in the doujinshi that's like, "In this book, Fuji gets turned into a girl!" you mentally prepare yourself for the worst and kind of start cringing already. I liked the previous doujinshi, where Fuji was put into a girl's outfit for their festival cafe and wasn't secretly thrilled with it, I liked when he protested (after being mistaken for a girl and getting groped on the bus) that he didn't look like a girl, but I didn't have all that high of hopes for this one. Still, I liked the series a lot, so I kept reading. And, sure enough, Fuji was turned into a girl. But that's when it got interesting. Fuji's immediate reaction to Inui's juice turning him into a girl? OMFG CHANGE ME BACK RIGHT FUCKING NOW. And when Inui protested that he couldn't do it? Shoving him down onto the floor and threatening him! And when Inui tried to make a comment about the size of his chest to distract him away from the topic? HAULED OFF AND PUNCHED HIM RIGHT IN THE FACE WITH A KILLER RIGHT HOOK. OMFG there should be more suddenly!girl fics/art/doujinshi where that's the person's first reaction, to PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE, YES. Not cry or get depressed or get all "Nyaaaa~~" about it. No! PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE.
- Tales of Vesperia - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Okay. I definitely wish there'd been a little more art here, but the stuff that was here just totally got to me. It's very nicely colored and the lines are very clean and it's overall just very solid, really pretty even. But as;ldfkjas;lkj Yuri/Estelle, the kind that makes a shipper just totally have that moment of glee over finding good art for a pairing you like. It's not actually all about them, but there's enough pulling one or the other into their laps or almost kisses in amongst the rest of the art that I was totally caving on this site after, like, two links into the gallery. XD So. Pretty art (and actually the most recent stuff is some of the better stuff I've seen in Vesperia fandom) and a pairing I like? That's all I need. ♥ (Some Yuri/Estelle, some gen.)
- Yoroiden Samurai Troopers - Pico [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site may not be for everyone, it's not the usual kind of site that I go for, the art is rather kind of rough, but... it's my pairing (Seiji/Touma) and I'm weak to them and I actually do kinda like this artist, I genuinely had fun with the site. Just that I know I'm going in with biases. When the artist goes for the lighter, airier colors--especially with Seiji--her style looks really kinda cool, but it's also the SUPER ADORABLE birthday omake and that she occasionally does MaShou art and occassionally does art of all the Troopers and the comics are kind of really fabulous and the oekakis are ADORABLE and just. It was a happy, fun site to visit, even beyond my pairing. ♥ (Seiji/Touma, some gen.)

And, really, that's what I liked about this series, that... okay, yes, it falls into a lot of stereotypical cliche traps and it's not anywhere near being a serious story. It's meant to be amusing and you'll still have to shut your brain off a little to reconcile it with canon. But it also takes those cliches and turns them on their heads a little and it was so fucking fabulous for that. Then you add in the art getting even more beautiful in this doujinshi and Mamemitsu being just as adorable as ever and Ryoma is SO GREAT in this and I love the whole of Seigaku and asl;dkfjaslkj Hyoutei and asdl;kfjasl;jk AHAHAHA Jiroh. God, I loved this one. I want mooooooore. (Tezuka/Fuji.)
