ARASHI: message by Honooko - Aww, this was a delightful treat to read today--saying any given one of the members of the band is one of your favorites is kind of a... well, they're all one of my favorites at pretty much any point in time, but my love for Nino is still deep and true, so fic where he gets to be squishy (because he may be a little rat bastard on the surface, but he is also completely a squishy for his bandmates and just like this) is really sweet to read. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

ARASHI: Under My Skin by waxrose - I... I really wish fandom would stop doing this, I ALREADY PINE AFTER JUN WITH EVERYONE ELSE, YOU JERKS GOTTA MAKE ME WANT SHO/JUN THAT MUCH, TOO? Jerks. Jerks. But this. Oh, god, this. It's beautiful and hot and gorgeous and Sho is so adorable with his hesitancy and Jun is so much more sure of what he wants and he's gorgeous like this and the sex is so, so hot and it's. asl;kdfjaslkj okay, there are, like, five people I say this about in the fandom BUT I REALLY MEAN IT. SHE IS MY FAVORITE EVER. I can read this over and over and still think it's the hottest thing I've pretty much ever read. *__* (Sho/Jun, NC-17.)

Final Fantasy VII/Kingdom Hearts: A Winding Path by demeter918 - I wasn't really sure whether to put this in either the FFVII or KH catagory, since it takes place in the KH world, which is an AU of the FF games, of course, but this blended a lot more of the FFVII (the original game and AC) into it, so... well, both. And this really was a lovely fic, it dealt with the theory that Tifa was Cloud's light, it got into the heartache of Cloud's entire character and yet it was sweet and generally positive. Bittersweet, but as good an ending as their story can have. I really adored this Tifa, she's gentle and strong at the same time, she pokes and teases Cloud when he needs it, she's no-nonsense when he needs that, too. You can tell what a fighter she is in this fic and I really liked the way it wound around to make the world a little bit better for Cloud here. <3 (Cloud/Tifa, sort of.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Passing Notes by kilowattage - Okay, the writing itself of this short piece is really cute and totally great for a character like Ryohei and I love that it's one of those that you could just see him doing, but I also loved it for the format it was put in--the font on the letter was A+ and the writing was great, not too over the top, but still... well, Ryohei. Totally cute and fun. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: A Story of How the Sky Fell by aubuyn - So, you know, once again it's totally the sensible thing for me to sit down and read a ~10,000 word fic instead of some shorter ones so that I might actually make my goal. But damn if this crazypants recs project hasn't given me an attention span back again. (It usually does.) And this was an interesting fic, it's all about Gokudera's thoughts TYL, after Tsuna's death but before the switches start taking place, and it's... it's a really interesting take on his character, it's not very happy (obviously) but it's also sort of dark, the way Gokudera starts to rewrite things until he's all turned around and of course it's going to come crashing down on him. The fic does a really lovely job of balancing the two out--the reality of what's happening around him, interspersed with the way he's rethinking the past and all the happier things that could have happened. It creates a really cool effect and it's hard to describe without giving it away, but I really liked this one. It was long and sort of plotful enough (while still being sort of like the Daily Life arc--as;dklfjasl;kj Gokudera babysitting the kids was such a spot on scene) that it was really satisfying. (Gokudera/Tsuna, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: What you wanted by cosca_pistola - a;sdlkfjas;lkjlajks jesus, this was adorable. I feel like I shouldn't find a character like Lal Mirch adorable, but when Colonello is around, you kind of have to! And we don't really know that much about either character or their backgrounds, but I loved this and what the author spun out of the little details we've gotten from the manga. There's something so adorable about these two babies planning bank robberies or eating candy at a carnival or PLOTTING CIVIL WAR AT MAFIA-LAND. The dynamic between them felt right to me and it was just. It was fun and sparkling and really made me kind of ship them rather actively now. XD (Colonello/Lal Mirch.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: The Perfect Christmas With You. by allira_dream - asd;lfkjas;lkjal I've liked this author's work for so many other series (and how the hell she can write so many, I don't even know, but bless her for it) so seeing her write Dino and Hibari was delightful for me. And this was a wonderful little piece, something that totally fit the mood I was in, since it had been snowing all day and it's getting close to Christmas and I've been starved for this pairing. (Anything less than a ton of them every single day is starved for me, okay. :|) I adored the descriptions of Hibari in the first few paragraphs, of course Dino would think of him like that, yet the fic never forgets that Hibari is a strong little fucker. And this. This really was just the perfect Christmas for them. ♥ (This is pretty gen, but if you like Dino/Hibari, you should like this.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: life's design moves around white lies by allira_dream - There is a small but decent selection of fic that features the REBORN! girls, but every time I find a new piece like this, it's still such a treat because I adore them a lot. And this is a really pretty, wonderful, lovely Kyoko fic that shows how strong she is emotionally, even if she's weak physically. How much of a lovely person she is, how she knows there's something more going on with everyone, but doesn't focus on it because she knows they're trying to protect her and, yet, she's stronger than that in her own way. It's just. I adore this Kyoko, she feels spot on with canon for me. Plus, the writing is just so pretty. *__* (No warnings/pairings.)

Merlin: Crooked Heart by Shanti - I have this fascination with potential interaction between Merlin and Morgana, I want to see it played with and I'm not sure I necessarily need it to be romantic in nature, but I'm not running for the hills screaming, either. So, I picked a fic with a summary that sounded interesting (Fate makes for difficult choices, and difficult goodbyes. Set in the not-so-distant future.) and some Arthur/Merlin implied, and I figured I should be okay. What I didn't expect to get was one of the most breath-taking fics I've seen in the fandom yet--this portrayal of Morgana is stunning and fits with her character so very well. The strength of character she has shown us more and more, the gorgeous turns of phrase in this fic, the way it clenched my fangirl heart and wouldn't let it go, the emotion of the piece just as lovely as anything. It's beautifully written and beautifully executed, I just... you know the ending is coming and yet it's no less impactful for it, rather more like... being inevitable, which the author does beautifully with. (Merlin/Morgana, some implied future Arthur/Merlin, Arthur/Guinevere, and Lancelot/Guinevere.)

Merlin: Smirking by otempora42 - Again, I'm not sure I want romance with Merlin and Morgana so much as I want interaction between them, I really want them to find out about each other's magic at some point, so a fic that deals with the moment when Merlin thought she'd found out about his magic was a delightful piece for me to read. It has a solid Merlin voice and it didn't push things too far, just the right sort of tone for a post-ep coda. <3 (This is gen, but it could imply some Merlin/Morgana.)

Merlin: Once and Future by Shanti - asldf;kjaslkjlkj you know I used to not read AU fics, but Merlin has destroyed all that and now I eat them up like candy. I'm even reading modern day AU fics that only have one chapter (a;dslkfjaslkj *claws at the walls in pining*) because I liked the author's other work and I wanted to see how she'd write a fic with actual Arthur/Merlin in it and a;lsdkjfaslkj I don't know whether I love it most for that or for the concept itself. Because it's beautifully written and there's a ton of wonderful little details in it and it's solidly characterized and the world building is fantastic and a;sldfkjasl;jk I WANT THE NEXT PART SO BAD OMG. (Arthur/Merlin, future Morgana/Gwen, NSFW in this chapter.)

Merlin: the things they never tell you in the job description by phantomjam - Okay, I actually totally love the dragon in the show, it's so great and you know it's fucking with Merlin on purpose sometimes. So, crackfic set from the pov of the dragon? I was delighted to read this. And it's really cute and fun (even if I sometimes felt badly for the dragon XD) and there were some really funny lines in this. Also, god knows I'd probably do the same thing as Arthur and Merlin in this one if I had to deal with the dragon, too. XD (Arthur/Merlin.)

Merlin: Their Fortune by gnimaerd - I just. I need to get this Merlin/Morgana thing out of my system just for a little bit. And I was attracted to this fic by the summary: Some years down the line, Merlin pays a visit to his favourite former pupil. And I'll grant that the Arthur/Guinevere in the background kept throwing me off (because the show has shown zero signs of that so far and, yet, what am I nitpicking over when I'm reading Merlin/Morgana, which is all about the possibilities that could maybe happen there? XD) but I liked what the author did with their characters here. The future she set up for them, the little details of Morgana's life away from Camelot once her gift has really started to shine, the way Merlin sees so much about her, the way they treat each other, for all that they're very different from who they are in the series, I could still see them becoming these people. And it satisfied my need for Merlin and Morgana interaction, okay? XD (Merlin/Morgana, implied Arthur/Guinevere.)

Merlin: Meteorology by Fahye - And, of course, back to Arthur/Merlin (even though this is more on the level of the show than it is with the making out times) because they are what my heart truly wants. And this fic was delightful, it was all about the various ways Arthur can really be kind of a dick or just generally impossible to deal with, except that Merlin is learning how to deal with him anyway. I adore it because it shows the surprising complexity of Arthur's character, that he isn't just the annoying prat he seemed at first and Merlin knows that more and more with every passing day. I love the various scenes and the different moments they share, the way their friendship shows through in so many different ways and through different moods. It's fabulous for that. And also for the scene with the horse, I swear I had to stop reading for a moment just to laugh because that hit me so perfect. Just. *happy sigh* It's totally worth staying up until 4:30am to read Merlinfic if I get something like this. (Arthur/Merlin.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Otomemorial - ....this is a bit of an odd duck of a doujinshi. The art is very clean and nice, not the best I've seen, but there are occasional panels that look very solid. It's the. The characterization. There is something clearly wrong with Hibari, he's being kind of nice and cuddly and the way Dino reacts (to pretty much be "....................." about it) is kind of great and then, randomly, Hibari is in a dress and it's like... it's like Japan is putting something in my water, it's everything I know I shouldn't like and yet I've been conditioned to go, "Oh, the detail on that is very nice and a;lsdkfja;lskj yay Hibari in a dress!" What the hell is wrong with me. It helps that Dino is clearly having the exact same response I am, though, and that's what makes me love it. .....shut up. XD Also, you know what? Dino's tatoos are still so hot omg. (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Toukasen - ......w-well. This doujin knows exactly how to start me off right. Yamamoto/Hibari porn that's really kinda totally pretty! It's only a page or two before Yamamoto wakes up and the art is at its best during those two pages, but. It's solid and nicely detailed and I love blase Hibari and... okay, I feel like maybe I've seen this doujinshi before, mostly because Yamamoto unable to stop thinking about Hibari and getting totally worked up over him and jerking off to thoughts of Hibari seems really familiar, but I know I haven't been on this post and I really like the scan quality here so, if it's a re-rec. Well, the quality is worth it. Also, you know. 8018 porn. *__* (Yamamoto/Hibari, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - 0505 + Birthday Song - ....this anthology/post is pretty much turning about to be Everyone/Hibari, isn't it? And, yes, I have to recommend them all separately. (Because it's easier for me to organize them and I want to talk about them separately since I'm chatty this morning, shut up.) And this one is Ryohei/Hibari! \o/ It felt like R18 got a decent start in fandom early on, but sort of faded out and that's too bad because I love their dynamic! The art on this one is solid and Ryohei is totally cute and upbeat and Hibari makes some great faces at him and OMFG IS THAT A PARTY FOR HIBARI? Oh, man, that was awesome. The whole thing was great, I can't pick a favorite part at all. XD Well, maybe the scene of Hibari with Hibird at the end, that was really awesome. The only thing missing was porn. <3 (Ryohei/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Sore ha sore ha mou taisetsu ni - The art style of this isn't my favorite, it's a little too early-era manga style without the polish of Amano's work, despite that it has some really solidly good detail on it. It-- it kind of reminds me of Oofuri's art? Anyway, this doujinshi starts out with Dino walking in on Hibari and Mukuro having sex on Hibari's desk and well. There's no way I can not like a doujin like that. XD But from there it goes on to winding towards Dino/Hibari instead and, well. Two of my favorite Hibari pairings in one! o/ I'm not sure how much 6918 fans would like it, since the emotional weight is obviously on the D18, but if you like D18, I think it's worth a shot. It's interesting at the very least. (Mukuro/Hibari, Dino/Hibari, NSFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Otona Yamamoto x Fuuki Iinchou + Oriental Honey - This style reminds me of something but I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it reminds me of those animated series tie-in comic books from DC. Idk. But! It has TYL!Yamamoto x Hibari, it was totally worth downloading just for that. It's really short, but it's an interesting style and 8018 doujinshi is precious and rare. Plus, I liked the very first panel of Yamamoto from this one, it was nice. <3 (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Nemurihime in the Kanoke + Happy time ~Seishun yo konnichiha - And this one is worth grabbing for two reasons--one, more Ryohei/Hibari! Excellent. There should always be more of them. And, two, this is one of the most cracked out things I've seen in ages--the rest of the REBORN! cast trying to wake Sleeping Beauty-like Hibari (in a coffin as;dlkfjaslkj) who beats the shit out of them even while he's lying there unconscious and looking almost angelic in his sleep. It's asl;dkfjasl;kj so cracked out and I love it. The second one is a bit less cracky and does have Hibari being awesome in the middle of being a little tornado of violence against all his enemies. <3 (We'll politely ignore the scene on the roof as far as characterization goes.) The art isn't stunning, but it's solid and nicely detailed, a nice addition to the far too small R18 selection out there. (Ryohei/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Boku no tamashii mono - The art for this one is a lot rougher than I'm used to (ads;lfkjasl;kj D18 fandom spoils me so horribly) but it has a bunch of little moments (Dino grabbing Hibari's wrist or Hibari sliding closer, Hibari looking pissed off at Dino a lot, and, you know, the porn *__*) that I loved and some of the close-ups are really nice. It's one of those doujinshi that you should probably only snag if you're already a fan of the pairing and are in the mood for a fix for them today. I actually enjoyed it a lot, it had a really surprisingly intimate feel to it, even as Hibari looked like he was bored and/or irritated half of the time. Which, you know, is a staple of D18 doujinshi. XD (Dino/Hibari, not quite SFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Initiative - Possibly I am repeating myself a lot here, but I don't care. The art of this one kind of took awhile to grow on me and it's never going to be my favorite style, but I did come to appreciate it for a few things--first of all, the artist gave Hibari a new hairstyle, his hair was combed off to the side and it was kind of hot looking. But mostly I have fondness for this artist for her TYL!Yamamoto in the three-piece suit omg, I-- I kind of found that really hot. Also, the scene where Yamamoto has worked himself into a state of total jealousy over the idea of Hibari with someone else, so when Hibari gets back, he tosses him onto the bed and pushes him down and Hibari just looks flatly up at him for a moment, then smirks? a;lskdfjals;j oh man yes plz. Same for Hibari egging Yamamoto on during sex. Yes plz. (Yamamoto/Hibari, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - unknown - This is a short doujinshi, less than ten pages or so, and raw at that, but... it's Xanxus and Squalo and I've been in a mood for them. The art isn't completely perfect in the sense of being just like canon, but it's certainly very reminiscent of it and has a lot of detail and looks really solidly decent. Plus, it's all about knocking Squalo around, so, you know, I was bound to love it. <3 (Xanxus/Squalo.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Disagreement - ....so, I was kind of waffling on this one and unsure if I wanted to recommend it or not. The art was really pretty solid and detailed, if not really that close to canon or that pretty (I've seen worse manga) but then... Yamamoto was randomly trying on a girls' hair wig and laughing about it... and then put it on Hibari's head and was all *__* about it, so Hibari's reaction? BODY SLAM HIM INTO THE WALL. A++++++ WOULD LOL AGAIN. Hibari handing back the wig on the end of his tonfa was pretty lolarious, too. The rest of it is kind of "...." as Yamamoto continues to have a kink for girl!Hibari apparently and Hibari's kind of low-key about everything, but there's porn and that one really awesome moment. Good enough for me! XD (Yamamoto/Hibari, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Golden Bird Week - This one was almost sort of... idk, cute? It's a lot of Hibari with an unreadable expression watching Yamamoto as he passes by briefly or sitting in his office while Hibird flutters around or Hibird fluttering after various people. The art is cute and some of the panels are kind of pretty and Hibari is totally a violent little bastard at times while Yamamoto just sort of goes ^____^; about the whole thing and I... just really kind of liked it. (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - 10nen go no Yamamoto x Hibari (neko) - I'm really not that fond of the art style of this one, especially the artist's Yamamoto, but. But. CAT EARS HIBARI. NEVER NOT AWESOME. It totally tried to aim for my weakness--HIBARI WITH CAT EARS and PORN--and I-- I'm weak, okay. You should probably only grab it if you super love the pairing or you have kinks like me. .....shut up. (Yamamoto/Hibari, NC-17.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Bambina - I pretty much knew that I was going to be recommending this doujinshi as soon as I got to the second page and Hibari was actually kind of totally hot in his close-up. It's the eyes. *__* And possibly I am easier for D18 doujinshi and it's not the absolute best I've ever seen, but it's got a certain sharpness to the lines and enough details on both characters that I really liked it. Also. HIBARI IN A SKIRT. Seriously, Japan is just playing to my interests because they know I'm weak. There is also Dino getting him out of there and Hibari kicking him in the face (while conveniently just about giving the reader an eyeful) and asd;lkfjas;lkj JAPAN. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME. ....though, I'll grant Hibari's got great legs and the art really is pretty and as;dlfkjasl;kjas there is skirtporn oh, god, Japan, why. Why do you have this power over me? ..........also, shut up, all of you. (Dino/Hibari, NSFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Yanchana Angel - Okay. I really don't care what's going on here. Smoking hot Dino? Check. Little Hibari kidlet or little Hibari spawnlet in kimono looking beautiful and TOTALLY FUCKING EVIL? Check. Gorgeous art? Check. My weakness for Dino bonding with baby!Hibari in a platonic way here? Check. Destroying that weakness by makeouts? Check. Just. asdfl;jkasl;jk B.S. Co can get away with so much because her art is amazing and, hell, I loved it in Tenipuri fandom, but she's improved EVEN MORE since then and this one really is lovely. Though, I will give a slight age squick warning. (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Otona no Jijou - .....okay, look. The second page of this was Hibari just about taking Ryohei's face off as a greeting. And a couple of pages after that, it was porn. I HAVE BEEN WAITING. The art isn't super stunning, but it's solid and recognizable (for the most part, it could be tightened up a lot) and shows potential. Hibari is kind of making the "Iyaaaa" faces more than I'd like, but, well. You get used to that in Hibari doujinshi. Also, PORN. WITH RYOHEI AND HIBARI. I've kind of been pining. Not something I'd recommend for non-fans or those just thinking about getting into the pairing, but if you want something fluffy and you already like it, go for it. I enjoyed it, so on the list it goes. XD (Ryohei/Hibari, NC-17.)

And seriously, I was just thinking about this a few days ago, this exact same thing - the fact that I say Ohno's my favorite, and for the first month or so maybe he really was, but they all have moments when they become my favorite. It's just that either he's got more of them or he's... the default, I suppose, lol. I don't think I ever could have guessed when I first got into this fandom that I'd be overflowing with so much love for every single one of those boys. ;_; /sap

I AM SO GLAD YOU UNDERSTAND YES. ♥ Not that I think most of fandom doesn't understand as well, but it's still nice to know you know exactly what I'm getting at. Default favorite is a great way to put it, because I'll always go back to Jun just like you'll always go back to Ohno, but the really great thing is that one of the others can do something ~*awesome*~ and we'll both go running. Or, you know. Any time one of the really good authors in fandom writes fic. (Nino especially has this really terrible way of just SNEAKING UP ON A PERSON and being like, "Surprise! Guess who's going to be SUPER AWESOME today. :D :D :D" the little rat bastard.)

(though lambo/reborn is - strange). and dino! i'm not on the bandwagon with dino/hibari, so to speak, but i like dino a lot so i'd read it anyway? XD and i like chrome a lot, but i suspect chrome doujin is really freaky...

and i'm really rusty in this series, i have to go and reread it all and catch up except that all i've been doing is rereading eyeshield. oh jesus, i don't think normal people read the same manga from beginning to end this many times in a month. >_>
