Gundam Wing: The music of the night by rilina - as;ldkfjaslkj omg hee! It's been ages since I've read GundamW fic, much less such a fun piece. Duo has an interesting time when he visits Quatre and I love this version of him, so high-energy and yet still a trained soldier, despite that this fic is totally with the amusement and the cuteness. Plus as;dlfkjasl;kjs ahahahaha MY NEW PERSONAL CANON FOR QUATRE AND TROWA. Absolutely. (No warnings/pairings.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN: The Awesomely Epic Chronicles of Squalo and Xanxus by aubuyn - Oh god. I was crying through so, so much of this fic. It's totally cracked out and over the top, but even with that it's got some amazing characterization for these two and this, this is why, as much as I'll cheat occasionally, Xanxus/Squalo is a total fucking OTP. And, oh, god, the characterization of Squalo, all brashness and idiocy and dangerous violence and total fucking retard and having no sensibility whatsoever and a ginormous pair and everything that makes Squalo himself, is brilliant here. I just. I cannot explain how great his interaction with Xanxus is here, how much Squalo gets right in his face and nobody is better for each of them and how goddamned hilarious the whole thing is, right down to Squalo's insults and speech patterns. I really, really want more of this pairing now, it was seriously one of the best fics I've read for them. XD (Xanxus/Squalo.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Acquired Tastes by Sid - You know, I didn't think that Bel/Gokudera would really be my pairing, I tend to ship them with other people or are interested in them on their own. But this was a really interesting piece, the author did a really good job with both their rough edges and that sort of harshness that is so much fun about Amano's characters. The language of this one was really good, too. And, okay, part of it is simply that it'd just be really hot. XD (Bel/Gokudera.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN!: Women Love a Mafia Man by kar_chan - The longer I'm in a fandom, the weaker I grow to oddball pairings, especially het ones in a largely yaoi fandom. So, I saw the listing for Ryohei/Haru and I was curious, so I read this one. And it's very cute, it's pretty simple and not much happens, but what I liked about it was the middle where Haru started to drift off into her own little world and it was kind of really adorable. XDDDD (Ryohei/Haru.)

Merlin: Springtime Promises by linaerys - I'm actually sort of nearing my fill of Merlin fics that blend the canon of the series with the traditional Arthurian legends (not the fault of fandom, but more that I've read too many too close together) but I couldn't resist one more, because this author writes such gorgeous stories. The level of detail and world-building here is just as wonderful as ever, the Druid Isle and its festival, the use of Nimueh and magic, all of it wove together really beautifully with the language and imagery used here. And I loved that there was this tone of... something legendary, sometimes with such a bright future that it was wonderful, sometimes with the feeling of doom inevitably pulling on these characters and their choices, brilliantly done by the author. But even more than that, it's the progression of Arthur and Merlin's relationship here that really attracts me to the fic, the way sex is a part of it, but it's about so much more than that, it's the bond between them that continually grows stronger and stronger. I love fics that deal with the future great king that everyone knows Arthur will become, even if he's not quite there yet, but the foundation is being laid down here and this was wonderful for that as well. And even Morgana! I had some issues with her at times, but I think her final scene really revealed a lot about her and her motivations that make her still very human and I could reconcile it with the character on the show. So just. All around, this was a gorgeous fic, the kind that I sat there and read all 10,000 words in one sitting because I couldn't put it down and only wished that there were another sequel to follow it. *__* (Arthur/Merlin, somewhere between R and a light NC-17.)

Merlin: There Are No Legible Signs by franticsga - I was sort of wary of reading this one, because it's listed as pre-slash and a;lskdjfal;sjk I want my slash right now, dammit, but. Well. I actually do like pre-slash fic a lot and this one had a really great set of voices for the characters and narrative, it had a really good premise (and asl;dkfjaslkj Merlin's sore muscles after 1x10 and I could practically feel the tension in him and it slowly being molded out of him) and it's one of those that was just solid and fun to read, the dynamic between Arthur and Merlin was fantastic. It actually didn't need anything more than exactly what it was. <3 (This is gen, but if you like Arthur/Merlin, you should like this.)

Merlin: Pulling Rank by waldorph - I love episode coda fics. *__* Especially ones that are all about the porn and Arthur's frustration and anger and Merlin really kind of wanting him rather desperately and yet still showing the differences between Arthur and Uther, how much different Arthur will be as king, even as he is loyal to his family. The mood changes a little quickly in this piece for me (but, then, I'm all for Arthur pinning Merlin wherever he wants to, shut up) but that was actually sort of nice, because the sex is much nicer this way and a;sldkfjalskj I love these two adorable guys. <3 (Arthur/Merlin, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Merlin: Sick Leave by waldorph - Another slashfic staple is when one character gets sick and the other is nice to him for awhile and a;sldkfjals;kj GOD I LOVE BEING IN A FANDOM LIKE THIS AGAIN. It's like every fanfic cliche of my mispent youth, except made awesome again. And this one was darling, it had a really fun Gaius POV, which worked well for the story and didn't push the Arthur/Merlin too hard, but you still got all the good stuff out of it and just. a;lskdfjalsjk warm and fluffy and happy, I am. This was super adorable, both for the being nice while Merlin was sick and for the way they still bicker even then. <3 (Arthur/Merlin.)

Merlin: so magical by snakevsladder - So, I was just saying how much I love all these fanfic cliches coming up again, because they were so awesome? And then GIRL MERLIN FIC YES YES YES YES. And it is just as TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME as I'd been hoping for, I don't think I stopped grinning so hard my face hurt the entire time I was reading this. The writing and dialogue and characterization of this are wonderful, they're just spot-on and sharp as all hell and just. So funny. And and and. This was kind of really hot even though it was only PG13 and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this and omfg fandom loves me a lot. Sometimes we can have nice things. ♥ (Arthur/Merlin.)

Merlin: the way the sunshine gleams by snakevsladder - 1x04 was one of my favorite episodes, it was kind of really, really gay, so a coda for that particular one? I wandered right on over to read it and it was a nice little piece, all awkwardness and feelings and trying to find a way to muddle through everything that's really kind of complicated, but they find a way somehow. It's got solid characterization and writing, Merlin's perspective on Arthur and how he feels about him, even when Arthur is kind of a dick sometimes, is really nicely done. (Arthur/Merlin.)

Merlin: .extant by thisissirius - [Note: This fic contains spoilers for the preview of 1x13.] Obviously this was written between episodes 1x12 and 1x13, taking the half a minute of footage from the preview and writing a fic based around the scenes and it may be entirely Jossed next week, but it also still creates something really wonderful that stands on its own. There's a real emotional punch here, an intensity to the piece with some gorgeous imagery, and it's just. Really good. (Arthur/Merlin.)

Merlin: Ozymandias by solarcat05 - Of course things turned out a little differently after 1x04 (which I assume this was written shortly after?), that Arthur still doesn't know about Merlin's magic (or at least not outwardly know, one could make a case that he just hasn't said anything, I suppose...) but that doesn't take away from the readability of this fic. I adore this fic because it's so much of what I see happening with Arthur--as fascinating and strong of a king that Uther is, Arthur is slowly seeing him to be just a man and wanting to be a better king, because that's what the point of Arthur's journey is, what you can already see with his character. The way he's growing into an even better man, which this fic does a really beautiful job of illustrating. And as;ldkfjasl have I mentioned in the last five minutes how much I love Arthur and fic like this? (Arthur/Merlin pre-slash, but it's pretty gen for now.)

Prince of Tennis: Photographs by doumeki - This was a nice fic to read this morning, a good balance to all the REBORN! and Merlin fic I'd been reading, to go back to Tezuka/Fuji for a bit again. It's a fairly simple piece, the use of Fuji's photography over the years and the way it connects them or reveals little things about Fuji, was nicely done and I really liked this Fuji. He does reveal a whole lot, just bits and pieces, there's a sort of... there's a feel of a photograph in the imagery of this piece, which I really liked. <3 (Tezuka/Fuji.)

Prince of Tennis: Like You Do by Asael - ....god, I'm just never going to get tired of these two, not so long as I still stumble over fic like this, even if it is almost two years after it was posted. This is what I love about both characters--I can totally see Fuji letting Eiji cheat off him and being totally blase about it when he's caught, but using it to be delighted at Tezuka's serious-faced lectures and what he sees there. It's a really delightful Fuji POV and fits so well with both of them that I just. Never want to give this pairing up ever. ♥ (Tezuka/Fuji.)

Princess Tutu: Possible Miracles by allira_dream - This was a really delightful pre-series piece that I loved for the interaction between Fakia and Mytho, the language of it is just beautiful and the legend of In some countries it's believed that during Christmas, Saint Nicholas gifts the animals the right to speak like humans do, just for a day. not turning out like I thought it would and just... Fakia is such a Scrooge about happiness sometimes (despite being a good-hearted little bastard) that it just. Makes me want to squish him up in a hug a whole lot. <3 (No warnings/pairings.)

Princess Tutu: Piano Sonata No. 23. by allira_dream - Oh, this was a beautiful story, the little details of it just so... so lovely and bittersweet and perfect. It's not an unhappy story, but Autor's love for Rue could never be returned and yet she's happy with Mytho and Fakia and Ahiru have their own relationship and it's just. It's hard to describe, but it's really lovely and does a fantastic job with Autor. (One sided Autor/Rue.)

xxxHOLiC: In a Winter Wonderland. by allira_dream - So often, because this is CLAMP we're talking about, Clow and Yuuko get angsty stories written about them and I'll eat those up like candy, too, but sometimes... sometimes I really crave something like this. Something that fits the mood of the season, it's really getting into winter here, so it's easy to feel the chill and remember the warmth of the bed you've just left, but peaceful between them. No excuses or agendas or bittersweetness, just a quiet morning after a late night and it's just them. The writing is lovely and this was just... really wonderful. <3 (Clow/Yuuko.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (scanslated) - Shiro wo Motte Akai wo - This style of art is not my favorite, there's something about it that doesn't entirely click with me most of the time. But I still want to recommend it because the story is cute (set after Gokudera's battle against Bel for the ring, where Tsuna comes to visit him) and I loved that whole scene, I loved how worried Tsuna was and how Gokudera pushed himself so hard for Tsuna. This doujinshi plays nicely on that, it was a good read and occasionally the art for Tsuna was interesting. (Gokudera/Tsuna.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Substitute - Again, not my favorite style, but the artist definitely has potential and I had to recommend it just for the scene where an injured Yamamoto accidentally falls out of bed, so Hibari picks him up and impatiently tosses him back in bed. There are a handful of really pretty panels (the artist needs some time to develop, but she could get there, I think) and there's Hibari iniating sex for once and, hey, porn! \o/ Porn that actually has some of the prettiest panels in the thing. ....look, stop judging me. :| I need my fix, okay. :| (Yamamoto/Hibari, NSFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Odore - This one is short, only about five pages long, but but but. Hibari and Yamamoto in suits. And there's a very nice kiss up against a wall. And smoking is kind of hot. And there's a sort of casual air between the two of them that's nice for Yamamoto and Hibari. ....shut up, I liked it. *__* (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Kirai na mono ha kirai dakara shouganai - This one is kind of batshit, but it has Yamamoto and Hibari both TYL and almost kind of domestic... well, the mafia version of domestic, and Hibari with a gun, who is kind of a scary little bastard, even when he's all wound up. The art is much better, occasionally verging on reminding of the original canon art sometimes. Plus, surprise!tackle by Hibari at the end? Kind of great. XD (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Cherry - Okay, look, shut up. Sometimes I have my needs. And sometimes that includes Yamamoto and Hibari in Italy in very nice suits or Hibari being followed around by a super adorable little girl or makeouts with Yamamoto in a grassy field. The art isn't perfect, but it's serviceable and it's one of those doujinshi that's worth a really good fix if you need it, especially since this pairing can be kind of rare. (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Hinadori no Saezuri - We know that TYL Dino has shorter hair, but you guys shut up I sometimes still need the art/doujinshi where he's older and he has even longer hair than before, especially when an artist puts in a lot of detail on his hair and just as;ldkjfasl;kj I love it, especially when it's partially pulled back away from his face. Also, the detail on Hibari's face in the close-ups (or in that a;sldfjas Mukuro!owl or the pretty page where Dino and Hibari are facing off) is really, really nice and there's porn! ....well, the start of porn. And then Dino's life is very, very hard. Especially because Mukuro is evil. Even if Mukuro's life is hard, too. Just. as;dlfkjasl;jk you'll see what I mean. The ending of this one was actually really pretty and really hot and just as;ldkfjas;lkj lolololol. (Dino/Hibari, not quite SFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - no future - Every time I see a new doujinshi by Megane Drug, I like her art a little more. This one is a little longer than usual, well over 30 pages, and it's a lot stronger than I remember her previous art being. Part of it is that it appeals to me, of course, because I always appreciate Yamamoto and Hibari in suits, but there's a lot more detail here and the art is getting closer to canon style, I want to say. Also! Adult Reborn! Who is kind of really hot and really intense even when you only see the one eye of his. Also! Fight scenes! Hibari looking bored afterwards! Then smirky! And then makeouts! I... I'm weak okay shut up. (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - double crunch! - Omfg, baby Hibari and baby Yamamoto after changing places with their younger selves! Awesome. Especially when Hibari is a violent little rugrat with some of the best deadly expressions and a;sldfkja;lskjasl;kj seriously, this is kind of great. The art is really cute and fits the story well, it's not too long, but I still kind of wanted it to go longer, because BABY HIBARI'S FACE, SO GREAT. It's also fun to see Tsuna kind of freaking out while Reborn takes it all in stride as usual. Just. Really cute. <3 (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Call call call - [Note: You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the link to this doujinshi.] There is something about 8018 that's kind of really growing on me after I've been going through all this doujinshi for them lately. Also, it's great that Hibari keeps getting paired with the cheerful ones who'll totally take a tonfa to the face and keep coming back for more, as this doujin repeatedly shows. Or the way they'll keep calling him at random hours and somehow live through it! That's what's really cute and fun about this one and what's making me like these two kind of a lot in doujinshi. <3 (Yamamoto/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - bokura no renai keikakuhyou - .....look, I don't even know, okay. This is probably one you're going to want to skip if you're not a hardcore D18 fan because it's one of those doujinshi where... you read it pretty much because you love them just that much. But I actually do like it! The art is surprisingly detailed and pretty for as rough as it is and Dino's really cute! We just... politely look the other way when Hibari smiles or tears up. And rather violently pretend that part didn't happen. Shut up, I'm weak and easy for D18. Shut up. (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - haneuma lecture - Okay, now, LAS is one of the better D18 circles, so I was slightly more discering with this one (shut up) and it didn't hurt at all that the art was immediately very pretty and it started with the makeouts. It's only five or six pages long, but the art is amazingly detailed and the makeouts were totally hot and Hibari is an evil little fucker. And Dino obviously things he's great. That's all I ever want out of Japan. ♥ (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - haneuma rider - I love that pretty much the only times Hibari's expression changes in this doujinshi is when it goes from totally flat to half-smirking at Dino or when they're in the middle of sex and it's a bit much for him. But that's just one of the staples of doujinshi. The art isn't my favorite, but it grew on me a lot, there was a lot of detail to it and it was very solid, I've definitely seen worse professional manga. Plus, makeouts and porn! Hibari looking almost bored while Dino's unbuttoning his shirt! His face is heated, but it's actually fairly IC, all things considered. Also. Biting the tattoes on Dino's shoulder. Yes plz. (Dino/Hibari, not quite SFW.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - hidokushinaide darling - This one really worked for me because the art style is somewhat reminiscent of the early manga art, which would fit the time of when this takes place--when Dino is training Hibari on the roof. It was also good for me because Hibari is so violent and so pissed off about not being able to win, about getting tangled up in Dino's whip and that's so totally what I can believe he was going through at the time. Also, Dino's bright as the sun grin at the end where he obviously thinks Hibari is cute and/or great. It makes me ridiculously fond of the both of them. (Dino/Hibari, though, this could almost be gen.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - namimori chuugaku something2 - You know, for all that this art is extremely simple, when the artist does a close up of either character, it's actually kind of really pretty. Dino's hair especially looks fantastic, but she also puts in some excellent Hibari expressions--especially when he's annoyed as fuck about something or ready to kill something very, very dead. Like someone who's been smoking in his school. Also, Dino's life is hard, you know. :< But this was totally cute and fun. <3 (Dino/Hibari.)

Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - one walk to adulthood - And, of course, I wrap up the KHR doujinshi for today with the B.S. Co one, because I love her a lot. This one isn't as polished as her other stuff, imo, but it's still got a lot that I really liked--including Dino totally snuggling up to Hibari in his sleep, whether Hibari wants it or not. Sleeping!Dino is also kind of ridiculously hot and, for the most part, Hibari's face pretty much never changes expression from that flat, unreadable look. Except for the very end and then we forgive the doujinshika because he's wrapped around Dino's arm and there's a dinstict lack of clothes and there are some very nice tattooosssssssssss. (Dino/Hibari, not quite SFW but I wouldn't even really rate this as an R.)

Prince of Tennis: Endless King (Anthology) - asdl;fkjas;lkjaslkj I love this anthology so much. I was a little wary of the first story, because the art wasn't my favorite and was really rough on the first couple of pages, but the story totally won me over. Fuji trying to wheedle more time with Tezuka and of course it always ends up being trouble for Tezuka. I lol'd at the ending. The second story was much cuter, the art is still obviously doujinshi, but it's adorable and the story is asl;dfkjas;lkj so cute. Fuji steals Tezuka's glasses, who plays back with him for a few moments and then Fuji is adorably clingy. Plus, omg, those quiz answers at the end are really fascinating to read. *__* (Tezuka/Fuji.)
