[ Fanworks recs] - Prince of Tennis
Sep. 23rd, 2003 03:33 amNotes/Babbling: Shocking that I'm still reading TeniPuri, I know. So, I finally watched the first three episodes of One Piece tonight. *thunks head on the desk* I can tell that I already love and I need more. The downside of getting into a series that's been around for awhile is that it's hell to collect the episode you're missing. (Waahhhh!! Give me the pirate adventures!! *stomps foot* Give now!!!) But I already *heart* Luffy and Zoro and I suspect I will like Sanji very much once I get that far. *headdesk* Dammit. Stupid shounen series.
*ahem* Anyway. Today was a good TezuAto day, because I continue to be obsessed with that pairing. (Well, along with one TezuFuji as they are my OTP and one Fujiroh 'cause I like them, too.) I need more fic for them. Badly.
Series:
Prince of Tennis - 4 Fanfics
- Prince of Tennis - Find a Way by Gen X - Have I fawned over Gen X enough yet? No? Well, okay, here I go again then. ^_~ This drabble is near and dear to my heart because she wrote it for me, which I'm pleased as all hell about, especially because it's good and because it made me like something I don't normally like. Namely, phone sex. Usually I don't like it because it's crude and I'd rather read about the pretty boys actually touching each other, but it works here because Tezuka and Atobe are so far away from each other, because it's more alluding to the sex than actually describing it, and because these two boys have the two most gorgeous voices in the series. I'd pay good money to hear that phone conversation. *___* Add into it lovely writing, fantastic characterization, and wonderful details and you've got a fic I've read an embarassing number of times already. >_> (TezukaAtobe.)
- Prince of Tennis - Comfort Zones by Jennifier D - *hums~* It's been a good night for TezukaAtobe and I continue to love the hell out of this pairing with an intensity that surprises me. I've become rather fond of Jennifier D's TezuAto fics, because the more she writes them, the more I agree with her take on the characters, so this was a wonderful treat to read--I liked the sense of time passing by and the way that was done in the fic without it feeling like things were missing; the pacing was just right. But the things I loved most were the little details--I especially went *hanya~n* over the bathroom scene (Well. And the beginning scene in the restaurant and back at Tezuka's apartment. Wonderful way to start off the fic, with their interaction/dynamics just perfect.) - Atobe only grunted and propped his chin on Tezuka's shoulder, eyes half-closed and brushing his teeth with a barely conscious look. Atobe Keigo wasn't a morning person. Tezuka was a morning person. They had learned to compromise along the way. It's little things like that that make me melt along with the way... mm, it's difficult to put into words. The way... things just seemed to work out with these two, somehow they worked together and everything... *repeats self* worked. And it was the perfect blend between sex and emotion, because Tezuka and Atobe are a rather physical pairing, but it's not just sex. Neither is it completely schmoopy emotions and sappy love, yet there is love. Gah. It's nearly 5am for me right now, I'm tired so I ramble. Good fic, go read. (TezukaAtobe.)
- Prince of Tennis - Fantasy by Gen X - There's a line in this fic that just cracked me up when I read it--Jiroh has just been shaken awake from a nap to find Fuji having just arrived at the street tennis courts for a match: The bleachers rattled as Jiroh got to his feet and raced down the steps. He smiled brightly and waved. He didn't walk so much as bounce over. Actually, he didn't bounce so much as as run. I adore Noel and her writing (so, yes, I must rec everything she writes ^_~) and this one was no exception--filled with funny lines and Jiroh adorableness and just that "*bounce*bounce* This is so much fun! XD XD" quality I love in fics. And, yes, this reminds me of why I like Fujiroh so much, because I *heart* Jiroh and his adorableness and I adore the way he fangirls over Fuji. *loves~* (Fujiroh.)
- Prince of Tennis - Peer Pressure by Ju - Aww, this was cute, just a sweet, adorable little fic about Oishi being pressured into a certain decision. I liked the various reactions from the other members of the team, the way they bickered amongst each other, I liked that I could tell them apart just by the things they said (well, most of the time, occasionally it was a bit confusing), and I liked the end. ^____^ Very cute, sweet fic. (Some OishiEiji.)

Date: 2003-10-02 06:38 pm (UTC)*huffs* Well, fine then. But don't think I'm not going to whine for the places to start with this fandom, because... bah, I have no idea what I'm even going to go for yet. Zoro and Sanji are the prettiest and I'm kinda hesitant to slash Luffy because he acts like a five year old (and I'm not getting any vibage off him and anyone yet, but I'm reeeeeeally early on in the series), but, dammit! He's made out of rubber and he stretches and you can't hurt him. He is asking to be yaoified! *stomps foot*
And, hell. Who knows? I might even turn out to be a gen fan. ^_~
But I love this series already, it's just... fun. It really has the same quality that hooked me on Hunter x Hunter, it's just... addicting. *___*

Date: 2003-10-04 03:58 am (UTC)Three things:
1)Luffy acts like a five-year-old sometimes ... but actually, he has these scenes that just make him SO FREAKING COOL. He's my favorite character, so I'm biased, but like Kakashi in Naruto, Luffy just gets all the good lines.
2)Luffy can be hurt. oooooooh, can he be hurt. O____o Episode 16. Enough said. To quote my best friend: "It's like Ryoma when he gets hit with the tennis racket, you FALL IN LOVE WITH HIM! Kyaaa!" XD
3)Yes, I agree, he is begging to be yaoified. More so because he can be hurt.
One Piece is so awesome, it's really much better than Hunter x Hunter (although Hunter x Hunter is great in its own right, too). You see, whereas HxH is about puzzles, One Piece is about plot ... you just wait and see. It has really. Great. Plot. *GRIN*
