tomomichiNotes/Babbling: I was going to do this sooner, but then someone dragged me off to play Cool Blue some more and made me determined to unlock all of the characters and so I spent all day yesterday doing that.... *coughs* Anyway. Not too many recs, since I haven't had time to read much, but more Prince of Tennis and I'm dipping my toes back into Gundam Wing. Speaking of which....

- Prince of Tennis - Inside by CalicoKitten - One of the things I liked about this story was that the author got Tezuka's... inability to be manipulated by Atobe; no matter what Atobe throws at him, Tezuka cannot be moved (at least not until he wants to move). And I adored the way Atobe struggled with how to respond to the match, part of him wanting to brag, part of him not wanting to brag, realizing just how good Tezuka was to keep up with him for so long with a torn shoulder. And I adored the way the chance meeting with Tezuka stuck in Atobe's mind, the way he couldn't quite put it out of his head, (though, the detail nut in me wondered why Atobe was bending down to kiss Tezuka, when Tezuka's 4cm taller... uhhh, did I just give away how much of a detail freak I am?), and... part of me hopes the story is continued, because I'd like to see more interaction after the events in this story here, but part of me hopes it stays the way it is, because I kind of liked the note the story ended on. I want more TezukaAtobe interaction, but I also think the story might be done and should stay done. And I kind of like that dillemma, because the ending was right for it, yet I still adored the story enough to want more of it. Okay, so, good writing, good characterization, good details and moments in the fic, and one of my favorite pairings. Which equals go read now in Becky-speak. ^_~ (TezukaAtobe.)
- Prince of Tennis - Hobbies by Gen X - Awwww, see, I hold this fic up as proof that Gen X can write fluff instead of just angst, but will she let me blackmail her into TezuAto fluff? Nooooooo. ^_~ What I liked about this one is that even when she's doing fluff, she puts all these fantastic little details into the fic, all the bits and pieces of how to take care of fish that show just how patient Oishi is (I could never wait when cleaning the tanks and therefore my fish always died. >_> Stupid chlorine levels.). Plus! So cute! And the ending lines just totally made me snort with laughter. XD (Some light OishiEiji if you want to see it that way.)
- Gundam Wing - Road Trip by Sunhawk - Oh. Oh. Oh. What I have been looking for. Duo and Heero being tough as nails Gundam pilots, but still with the more human sides to them, with the yaoi vibage and just... oh, goodness, the details the author put into the fic about their mission, the writing which was just perfect, and the characterization. Oh, my god, I haven't enjoyed a Gundam W fic like this is so very, very long. It's just... holy shit, this was good. My favorite thing is that Duo was intelligient and resourceful--I had just been writing a rant that I wanted to this exact thing and then the Universe deigned to gift me with this gem and I am just flying high because of it. I think by chapter four I was ready to cry from this whole... sensation of being wound up and ready to just snap because the fic had me on edge in exactly the way it was supposed to. I also adored Wufei's characterization in this fic--this is the Wufei I love. And the Heero/Duo... oh, my god, this is my dream 1x2. *cries happy tears* It just... touched me. It was just... this big mess of complicated issues and reactions and mindsets and what being a soldier does to you and what what they went through does to you and it was about two young men who cared about each other and a group of young men that had gone through so much together and yet weren't sappy about it and it was just... this big tangle of things that was perfectly written. I'm so, so impressed. And I'm sorry this rec sucks so much, but I really was just so shocked to find a story like this. (A little bit 1x2, background 3x4.)
