- Yami no Matsuei - Only With Thine Eyes by kireira - This was a soft, short little fic that I was looking forward to, because I enjoyed the author's AU, "A Wing Short of Flying" and I was eager to see how she wrote Tatsumi/Watari. It was... I'm not sure how to describe it without giving the entire thing away, but I really liked what she did with the characters here, both of them were written with such insight, even in such a short fic. And the ending line... ouch. ;__; (Tatsumi/Watari.)
- Yami no Matsuei - Beaucoup de Sexual Harassment by Evil Asian Genius - I cannot stop giggling after reading this fic, because it was just too, too funny. EAG has a way with comedic timing in fanfic (along with carrying out a hysterical premise in just the right way, not too thinly stretched, not too densly packed so that you can't take your time to enjoy each bit of funny) and writes the characters in such a way that the whole thing just springs to mind while reading. And I'm still laughing like an idiot over the ending. *loves Hisoka so, so much* XD (....eh. *waves hand* YnM. You know the drill.)
- Prince of Tennis - Devil May Care by Inari - I'm not sure how I missed this one all this time, but it's probably because it took me awhile to warm up to ToriShishi (not that I've ever disliked them or not cared for them, but I wasn't necessarily an active fan), but I'm glad I got to read it, because... I could just see this fic. Shishido is such a cute little cranky boy and Ohtori... oh, my darling Ohtori was so sweet, but not sickly sweet or a pushover, he's just... wonderful. And normally I don't like lyrics in fics, but somehow this fic managed to be the exception, because it worked so well. ^_____^ (OhtoriShishido.)
- Prince of Tennis - Second Singles by Aishuu - I always find it interesting and sparkly when an author I like has similar takes on a character that I myself have come to the same conclusion as--in this case, that Jiroh had to have been fascinated by Atobe Keigo during his time at Hyotei, given the way he fangirled over Fuji. I liked the background that the author has set up for the characters, the lead up to the Seigaku - Hyotei matches, and the way everything came together--the way Jiroh's view of Atobe changed over time, the way he looked at him even then, the way he sleeps (Jiroh is an incredible player and one of the reasons I adore the sleep thing is that he's never lazy or shirking his responsibilities), and the initial match between Atobe and Jiroh was quite well done. I have to admit, this is my perfect take on AtoJi, because I adore the pairing, but there are other people who've caught their attention after the Seigaku matches. The ending kind of hurt... but in the right way. (Some slight AtobeJiroh.)
- Naruto - Sometimes by Morien Alexander - *fweeee* Naruto fic with what looks like it may have an actual plot and some action. I luffles that, I don't get it enough. XD Morien Alexander has become one of the authors I definitely keep an eye out for when she writes Naruto fic, because I've become so very fond of the way she writes Kakashi-sensei and Iruka-sensei and I am thrilled at the prospect of her writing something with an actual plot. So far, what she's written is shaping up to be rather interesting and I'm curious about the weapons entrusted to Iruka-sensei to destroy, I'm curious about learning about Iruka-sensei's clan, and it makes sense that he was given this mission and it makes sense that Kakashi-sensei was sent along with him. And I totally *heart* the way she writes them interactin and I also just absolutely cracked up at the scene with Sasuke and Naruto. *sporfles* I can just see that, too. XD (Some very, very light hinting at KakaIru or SasuNaru, but only if you want to see them that way.)
- Prince of Tennis - Elements of Truth by Jennifier D - One of the things I've grown to be most fond of about the author's work is that even when she writes a rather short fic like this one, it still contains exactly all of what it needs to contain. Nothing feels skimped on, nothing feels like it was left out for the sake of wanting to get it done with, and neither is it pushed beyond what it should be (ie, extending the scenes just to up the word count). I feel satisfied with the fic after I'm done with it. I really like the way Tezuka and Fuji and their odd relationship were written here, the way so few people really seemed to understand the complex dynamic between them and all the little details--the mentions of Oishi's looks was a particular favorite of mine. But I also loved the final conversation, the way it was both teasing and serious, so much like the TezuFuji relationship in general. And, yeah, the last line about Fuji leaning into Tezuka's touch made me wibble with love, because it painted a lovely, crystal clear picture in my mind. Gah. I babble. (TezukaFuji.)
- Prince of Tennis - Rain by Jennifier D - TezuFuji angst is a difficult thing for me to deal with sometimes, because... hmm. I hesitate to state it in such simple terms as, "TezuFuji angst is okay so long as it isn't used to break them apart." because it's a lot more complex than that. (And I suspect I'm only explaining this 'cause it's my recs page and it's a good insight into my own mindset and what I look for in fic and why I react the way I do.) One of the unwavering beliefs I have in TezuFuji is that they are both incredibly brilliant and insightful boys and I don't necessarily need to believe that they alwaysalwaysalways get together, but I have a hard time with them getting together and breaking up. Because... I have trouble believing that they would get into a relationship in the first place if they weren't sure about it, because they know and understand each other so instinctively. So I always get hesitant over any TezuFuji angst, even if I do readily agree that there're are a lot of points to angst over. (Oh, god, the post-Hyotei matches frustration between the two of them, with Fuji being furious with Tezuka for hurting himself like that, while at the same time so admiring of his determination and strength of will... the fic possiblities kill me. ~_~)

Eh, getting off on a tangent when I shouldn't be. ^_~ This fic... what I liked so much about it was that it was angsty, but the kind I could see, this is Fuji angst that I can believe. A wonderfully human Fuji who is still the strong, brilliant, rather scary Fuji, not some unrecognizable weepy mess. You can probably tell I've been through FFNET's TeniPuri section one too many times. >_> Toss in some lovely imagery out in the rain and you have a very touching little fic. (TezukaFuji.)
- Weiss Kreuz - Apocalypse Please by labryx - I admit, I didn't really get WTF was going on in this story, but by the end of it, I think I picked up all of what I need to know (and it didn't hurt that I've read it a couple of times now, just because I like the snappy dialogue) and... I'm curious. Very, very curious about where this is going. The OC is actually highly likable, the plot is intriguing and conveyed surprisingly well through pure dialogue alone (without feeling like the author is hitting the pause button to explain everything), the conversation is easy to follow with only just dialogue to guide you, the characterizations are sparkly and clever, and I enjoyed the hell out of the Crawford/Schudlich hints. But, really, the highlight of the fic is (I know this seems obvious given that it's a dialogue-only fic, but...) the dialogue, it's sharp and ohmigodIgushsomuch over authors when they can do that.
