I've had a bit of a rant brewing for awhile and I finally sat down to write it out. Before I start, let me say that this is not directed at any one person in particular, so if you think I'm talking about you, sorry, but I'm not.


A lot of people seem to be misinterpreting the intentions I have with this journal/site and I would just like to clarify a little. There are a lot of very well-written fanfics that are never going to be mentioned on this site because they are not to my particular taste. Does this mean I think they're bad fics? No. Simply that they're not what I enjoy for whatever reason. Maybe it's not my pairing, maybe it's not my take on a character, maybe it was a deathfic, or maybe I just haven't gotten through enough of my backlog to finish reading the fic.

But some things, no matter how well written they are, are not going to be mentioned here ever. I'm not running a reviews site, I have no intentions of being an all-purpose guide to any given fandom. With any series I like, there are pairings I don't like and rather than go, "Ehhh, it was okay, I guess, but I don't really like that pairing", I, you know, follow that age-old advice of not reading it. And perhaps the 1x2 I rec isn't as well-written as that 1xR fic over there, but a recommendations page is all about what I enjoyed. I don't enjoy reading 1xR, so it doesn't matter if it's the most brilliantly written epic ever. There are a lot of pairings you're never going to find here, which if you follow the journal you can probably get a good feeling for.

This journal is also not necessarily meant to be comprehensive. Extensive, perhaps, but not comprehensive. It's all about what catches my attention at the time--right now I'm tearing my way through Prince of Tennis fanfic, so it's incredibly difficult to catch my attention on anything else. I've got a few GW and WK epics on the burner, which I'm slowly getting through, but they're long and I want to finish them before I rec--which is why you'll see recs for a lot more shorter series than longer ones. It all depends on what I managed to finish that day.

So the basic summary of what I'm trying to get at (I touched on this in my updated userinfo, but that's even longer winded than this thing is >_>) that this is not a reviews journal. This is a recs journal where I mention stuff I really liked. Which means it's biased as all hell and will forever remain that way. XD

I apologize if I come off as sounding cranky in this little rant/explanation/whatever, because I didn't really mean to, but I know that I can get wrapped up in the moment (Bah. Bad words.) and start bitching more than I'm really annoyed by. ^___^;;

hang in there :D Besides, you are right, who says you have to make a list of links for every fanfics out there when they aren't your taste... not to mention review every single fanfictions out in the world...

*nodnod* Really, I barely have time to keep up with the stuff I want to read, much less stuff I'm apathetic about. ^_~ And, really, I've seen far too many review sites just get overwhelmed because an author wanted to debate something in-depth with the reviewer, so I really don't want to go that route (I just don't have the energy for it! ._.), instead choosing to stick to something lighter and simpler. Plus, I suck at being criticial, it's really difficult for me to do. ^_~ So I just stick to things I really liked. XD

*grin* I admit, I thought it was pretty obvious, too, but I've had more than one person mistake the intent of the site--which is fine, there are a lot more review sites than rec sites out there, so I can understand why there might be confusion. (At least in anime fandoms, if you move over into more live action or book-based stuff, you get a more even mix of recs and reviews.) And, of course, being the long-winded person that I am, I had to say something about it. ^_~
