[ Prince of Tennis ]
Oct. 23rd, 2003 10:54 amNotes/Babbling: Sorry about the earlier rant, here's actual fic recs to make up for it. ^_~ Am still slowly inching my way through getting all the TeniPuri fic read that I'd like and then maybe I can actually read for something else again. ....okay, who am I kidding? We all know I'll just whine and cry until someone writes me more. ^_~
Series:
Prince of Tennis - 5 Fanfics
- Prince of Tennis - Fun by Aishuu - Hmm, what can I say about this author's work that I haven't said already? ^_~ She understands the characters, especially my darling Tezuka and my darling Fuji, writing them with not only a solid overall charcterization, but adding in all these wonderful little details that speak volumes about the characters. The way Fuji makes Tezuka twitch is nothing short of clever and truly worthy of the character. Tezuka's reactions were balanced between his iron discipline and his affection for his team, especially Fuji. I laughed in all the right places, I adored what Fuji was getting at with his present for Tezuka at the end, and I sparkled so very hard at Tezuka's interaction with his classmates. *hanyan~* (TezukaFuji.)
- Prince of Tennis - Periphery by Shi Lin - (Note: There are two versions of the fic contained here, which might be a little confusing at first.) There is an immense satisfaction in seeing an idea you really want to see written by one of the authors you just absolutely adore. ^_____^ Shi Lin writes Momo and Ryoma just perfectly, Ryoma being a stubborn little brat, yet human and Momo showing the signs of being the wonderful guy we all know he is under the semi-obnoxious behavior all wrapped up in a story that slides in between the pages of the manga beautifully. The small details, the sense of humor (*hee!* The Big Warm Thing!), and just the gentle, subtle way these two interacted left me *hanyan~*'ing like crazy. This is exactly why I adore MomoRyo. (Some light MomoRyo, if you want to see it that way.)
- Prince of Tennis - Confession by Gen X - If I didn't already adore Gen X for a multitude of reasons, I would adore her for her indulging me in TezukaOishi, because that pairing could so have been my OTP (if not for TezuFuji and because, ultimately, they each need other people more) and because she has this same love for them that I do. Her Oishi is wonderful, her Tezuka is wonderful, and the way she writes them... well, in a lot of ways this fic makes me want to cry, because even though I know it had to happen, my heart breaks for the ending of the TezuOishi relationship. A part of me truly wishes it could have gone on forever, that they could have been perfect for each other. But then I look at the way they're still friends, the way Eiji calls Oishi over, the way Oishi looks at Eiji... I know it's right. I love it when a fic can put me through all the emotions like that. (TezukaOishi, OishiEiji.)
- Prince of Tennis - Time Slip by Ilya - Fuji and Yuuta's relationship fascinates me, because, like Fuji, I take unholy delight in seeing Yuuta annoyed, frustrated, or embarassed. Or, more preferably, all three. XD I mean, I love Yuuta, I want all the best for him, but, really, he is just so much fun to mess with. Which is what I adored about this fic, that Fuji has such a strong impulse to do that, that he managed to let go a little bit, yet not let go at the same time, because Fuji will never completely change. Plus, OMG TEH KYUTE in the flashback! XD XD (No warnings/pairings.)
- Prince of Tennis - Go Back by LadyCosmos - One of the things that makes me love MomoRyo so much is that Momo and Ryoma are simply Momo and Ryoma. They don't need complicated definitions of who they are or what they mean to each other or fancy labels for each other, they're just Momo and Ryoma. I thought this fic captured that very well ("What's then is then; now is now. Don't you like how things are now?"), the way things can get complicated, but in the end, they're still just Momo and Ryoma. ^_____^ (MomoRyo.)
