* - Stark Trek XI - [ link ] - [Usual spoiler warning!] - I was wandering around and happened to stumble over this link and I kind of wanted to keyboard mash over it because it puts for kind of a really interesting theory for all the discrepencies in the timeline before the battle on the Kelvin. I can already sort of see it sliding into my view of the movie as an explanation for the changes, it's easy to picture the theory mentioned being applied here. But there's also some interesting thoughts going on about the parallels in the movie and you sort of start to realize that maybe more thought was put into this than one would first think. It's a lot of food for thought and I found myself nodding at the possibility of a lot of it.
Mei-chan no Shitsuji: Festive Occasions by alianora - asdlfjkas;lkjsl so I had this image in my head and I shared and then alianora took it and ran with it and had this beautiful fic and just. as;dlkfjas I will always carry it with me and treasure it because it's making fun of Rihito out of love. But what I also really adored about this fic, aside from the spot-on characterization, was that it's that wonderful balance between making fun of Rihito and letting him still be the cool, perfect S-ranked butler that he also is. I feel slightly better about the state of the Mei-chan no Shitsuji fandom now. ♥ (Rihito/Mei.)
Merlin: For the Kiss of a Prince by V.M. Bell - *sigh* So apparently the het has truly gotten me with this fandom, because I'm still seeking fic out for them. But I can't help it! This was adorable and had a great Morgana characterization in it, and it was just light-hearted enough (the way they interacted with each other) and yet filled that need I had for makeouts with them. <3 (Arthur/Morgana.)
Prince of Tennis: Tall Tales and Territoriality by Lys ap Adin - Oh, I do enjoy going back to Tenipuri fic sometimes, especially when it's well-written and refreshing and fun like this one. It's a great little fic with all the right details it needed to be pulled off--Yuuta's characterization in this, especially the way he talks to people/the things he tells them was so fun. Mizuki's slow realization of their dyanmics was great and a;sldkjfalsjk holy crap did I ever love the St. Rudolph team dynamic. I'll always be a Seigaku girl at heart, but I love a good team and I love how fleshed out they were in a story that was about Yuuta and Mizuki's relationship. ....this is a terrible rec, I know, but it was a great little fic and it was a blast to read the author's take on the characters and it was really well-written. MOAR PLZ. (Yuuta/Mizuki.)
Princess Tutu: Monsters by Laurus Nobilis - Oh, this was a great Rue piece. Well, Mytho/Rue, as well, but also a great look into Rue's character and her feelings when Mytho is twisted around during the series. I love it because of the really beautiful imagery that fits with this series and this take on Rue and how... surprisingly painful this series can be at times. A really nice piece for these two. (Mytho/Rue.)
Princess Tutu: Good Girls Don't by athousandwinds - I was sort of wary of reading this fic at first, because I wasn't sure a series like Princess Tutu needed NC-17 fic. And yet, I was attracted to the fic for the same reason. What I got was... something that was deliberately creepy and effective at the painful mood it was trying to create, something that really hurt from Rue's point of view, and yet was beautiful in that same way that the series itself was. It nailed exactly what it was trying to do and was gorgeous for the look at the darker side of the relationship between these two. (Mytho/Rue, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Princess Tutu: The One Who Causes Darkness. by allira_dream - There have been several Rue fics on the comm lately and it's put me in the mood for them and this series again, so I kept reading them as they came out. And then along came this fic, which was gorgeously written and a perfect addition to the original canon, it fits so beautifully with the source material, and it's... it's everything it was attempting to be. An amazing look at Rue's character, both the dark sides of her and the better sides of her, all of what she goes through and what makes her so fascinating a character. It's intense and has a meta aspect and a fairy tale aspect all woven together and just. It was a gorgeous read, already one of my favorites in the fandom. ♥ (Mytho/Rue.)
Star Trek XI: The Cheat by mrstater - [Note: Just go ahead and assume there are spoilers in the fic and this rec.] I like the idea of Spock/Uhura, as complicated as my feelings about them are, but so little fic has really felt right to me. This one, however, really does an amazing job of capturing their characters, especially Spock and his struggle to be half-human and half-Vulcan after the events of the movie. This fic felt like it really got that, as he attends the memorial for the Starfleet officers that were lost in the battle against Nero, it didn't try to swing him too hard either way, but instead went for something more subtle and powerful. I adored the use of his relationship with Uhura and how that catalyzes and understanding with him and... as;dlkfj I'm being vague, but. This fic was really good and reminded me of why I am intrigued by this world and them. (Spock/Uhura.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Hibari Go! Go! - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be easily joinable.] This isn't a doujin in the usual sense, there's no real text or story to it, it's just a collection of Hibari illustrations put together, but it's really worth a look through because some of them are gorgeous. The colors of some of them are amazing and the details are terrific and it's Hibari in traditional clothing or various countries' uniforms or Hibari as a pirate and I kind of love it with all my heart. This was totally a fun download this morning. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw) - Rouman Hikou - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm should be easily joinable.] Hibari/Gokudera... it's such a rare and kind of odd pairing that I had to grab this one and see what it was like. It's another time I'm glad my fascination with crack pairings continues to haunt me because this doujin is gorgeous for both characters, the amount of detail and the sharpness of the lines is fantastic. Gokudera is especially hot and I'd love to see more from this artist. *__* (Hibari/Gokudera.)
- Gundam 00 - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - What made me fall for this site--aside from the Allelujah/Tieria pairing--is that I really liked the artist's smooth cg style and colors, they were very solid and bright, but with enough sharpness and detail to make it work for me. I love the pairing stuff a lot, I love that there's Tieria with kitty ears or the two of them curled up together or all the other usual things. But I also love that the site has some really fantastic group images that were almost my favorite thing about the site. Even the artist's b&w lineart images are kind of tremendous to look at and I am totally in love with the chibis that occasionally show up. So. Between very nice content and beautiful colors, this site was a nice way to jump back into Gundam 00 art this morning. ♥ (Half Allelujah/Tieria, half gen.)
- Gundam 00 - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I admit that this site started out a little shakey, but it got really cute and interesting pretty quickly and the artist tightened up her cg style nicely and not too far into the gallery it became a really fun site to go through. Part of it is that it's often focused on Tieria, putting him with just about everyone (though Lockon and Allelujah are the most common) and occasionally maids outfits or cat tails or what have you. I love that kind of thing. The art kind of goes back and forth between cg style and sketch-like style, but both work pretty well for the artist and there's a solid amount of art here and it was just. A lot of fun. I love sites like this. ♥ (Allelujah/Tieria, Lockon/Tieria, some Billy/Graham, some other.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was actually on a hunt for Suikoden Tierkreis art and happened to stumble over the KHR section. I was curious enough to click and then found Gokudera/Tsuna art and it'd been awhile and... I just didn't quite wander away until I'd seen everything. I imagine this is going to be for the more hardcore art junkies/pairing fans, since the art does start out kind of rough. But the artist improves a lot over the course of the gallery and she makes the style work for her and, hell, about halfway through she starts getting pretty polished. Her lines and colors smooth out and her most recent stuff is really kind of lovely--she's got this fantastic Yamamoto piece and then an ADORABLE group pile hug and I just wound up really happy with this site. <3 (Gokudera/Tsuna, some gen if you step lightly.)
- Katekyou Hitman REBORN! - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is another site where I was looking for Suikoden Tierkreis art and somehow managed to stumble over a KHR site. The current top illustration was an intriguing looking one of Hibari, so I thought, what the hell, I'll click through the gallery. I'm really glad I did because this artist does some amazing detail and sharp lines in her images--she doesn't even really need color because there's so much already packed into these images. There didn't even need to be a lot of them to catch my attention, there's probably only a dozen or so in the main gallery, but I hardly noticed because I could really take my time with this gallery. And I love the focus on Hibari, Tsuna, and Mukuro's characters, the artist does a tremendous job with each of them. (Some Mukuro/Tsuna, some Hibari/Tsuna, some Yamamoto/Chrome, some gen.)
- Suikoden Teirkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I think I may have been to this site before, but skipped over it the first time because I was impatient to get to color art only, I didn't have the patience to go through the comics section at the time. Now that I'm settling into the fandom a little more and more patient, I came back to this site and sort of fell in love with it. The first series of comic pages was an Asad/Chrodechild series and I still kinda carry a torch for that one, especially if it's all pretty like this one. The style is cute and solid, and there's also Fredegund art and asldfjkaslk I love her a lot. There's even a series focused on Diadora and asld;kfjaslkj Asad/Chrodechild vs Chrodechild/Fredegund and it's like. It's like this site was made for meeeee. Even the color art was lovely, still very sketch-like, but the artist is talented enough to pull it off. ♥ (Some Asad/Chrodechild, some Chrodechild/Fredegund, some Sophia/Manaril, some other. All of this is pretty implied or gen, though. About the level of the game itself--for the most part!--I'd say.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is another site that took me a bit to figure out my way around, but I'm glad to have kept at it because Luo-Tao/Liu art! There's something that's not... not precisely a rough edge to the style, maybe I should say it's more sketch-like, but. There's a certain quality to the art that works well for this pairing, I felt. The artist has a really solid style, the characters are very recognizable as themselves and I totally wish there were more art here, that the artist spent a bit more time finishing these pieces up. But what is here is really fun to look at and I'm delighted to have stumbled over it. <3 (Luo-Tao/Liu, some gen.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This was a really kind of neat style, it looks pixelated, but it's not tiny, it's decent sized. It makes the colors look really vivid and gives everything a sharp edge that I really liked. Plus, some of it is just so damn cute and there's a good selection of various characters, a lot more than I was expecting! I'm kind of at a loss for what else to say about the site, other than that I really liked it! I think it'd be fun for most people to take a look through. <3 (Mostly gen, a little smige of Shams/Taj.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oooh, this one is nice! I came here for the Luo-Tao/Liu fanart but actually wound up staying for everything here. There were a bunch of very nicely done stand-alone illustrations for various characters, there was a pretty Chrodechild/Fredegund illustration, and even some nicely done group stuff. I really love it when a site has some balance to it like that. And yet. My favorites were totally the Luo-Tao/Liu images because they're pretty and the artist really nails the canon style and they're fun and they're just... asl;dkfjaslkj I'm sorry, but I've pretty much spent the whole morning doing fanart surfing and I have been waiting for this kind of site. It was a fantastic site and I totally want more like this. ♥ (Luo-Tao/Liu, some gen.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's not a ton of art here and it's not my very favorite pairing, but well. I'm easy for fanart, as I've mentioned a bunch of times and I've gone, like, a whole day and a half without getting my fix (as of the time I'm writing this particular rec, obv.) so this was a nice place to start. It's mostly hero/Liu, but there's a fair amount of Liu-only art that caught my attention as well. The artist has a nicely solid style, the characters are easily recognizable, and occasionally really freaking cute. Even the comics are nicely done! (Hero/Liu.)
- Suikoden Tierkries - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I sort of sat on the fence for awhile with this site, because it's mostly sketches and comics and log art. But what won me over eventually was... well, a lot of it was that there was Luo-Tao/Liu and a hint of Jale/hero, so I was easy. But part of it was also that the log art was really cute in places! There was a decent amount of variety of the characters! There was an Asad illustration that I really liked! All things designed to make me weak to a site. XD And ultimately it was a really nice stop this morning when I was looking for a fanart fix. <3 (Some Luo-Tao/Liu, a lot of gen.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Well. :| This site didn't take me long at all to cave on. It started off with an illustration of Asad lounging around in a pin-up-style pose. And then there was a similar one of Liu. And then there was a hero/Roberto illustration that was both pretty and kind of awesome, managing to capture the dynamic I love about them. And then there was more gorgeous art on the log pages! I do wish there'd been a bit more here, but the art was very nicely done, even the log art/sketches were worth taking a trip through, and I loved pretty much every single piece. I'd love more sites like this one. ♥ But at least there was even more gorgeous art tucked away in on the blog section! (No real warnings/pairings. Maybe a smidge of hero/Roberto?)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - You know what I have a weakness for? When a site for a series that has a lot of characters that don't necessarily get a lot of attention goes and focuses on those background characters a lot more than most other sites. It's nice to balance out all the art for the main characters with a site like this one, where there are some pretty Mubal images or a handful of really nice Buchse illustrations or so on. There's a decent amount here and the artist has this really nice light and airy feel to her art that I really like, making this a satisfying site this morning. (No real consistent warnings/pairings.)
- Suikoden Tierkreis - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I was pretty sure there was a good chance I would fall for this site, right from the beginning. And, sure enough, it took me only about three clicks into the gallery to find a Dirk/Sisuca illustration that reminded me that I totally ship those two, despite that I suspect it's doomed. The site isn't only about them, there some other stuff for the rest of the cast and I really like the artist's style, it's solid and interesting to look at. But! Dirk and Sisuca. ;__; I love them. Plus, hell, even the echalog stuff was interesting to me on this site and I usually skip those! So, this was a very nice site to come across this morning. ♥ (Some Dirk/Sisuca, some gen.)
