ღ - Ahhhhh, I read through all of Totally Captivated in one night, which means that NOW THE HUNT FOR FANDOM BEGINS. +__+
ღ - Speaking of which! Between TC and all the doujinshi I've been recommending, I've really been in the mood for reading things. Are there any recs for BL-themed manga that's approximately ~3-6 volumes long? I have a hard time with shorter (only one or two volume) series because they're just not satisfying enough, but I can't tackle another 20-volume-long series, either. So ~3-6 would be perfect! I'm not terribly fussed about art vs story, so long as one of them is really engaging.

Community: Method Acting (part 1) by shan21non - I'm always a little hesitant to try out new authors in a new fandom (and I'll admit that the font on this post did give me pause for a long few moments) but I dove in anyway. I'm really glad I did because I spent this whole fic either grinning or out and out laughing because the author does a really fantastic job at the group scenes and the little quips and getting everyone's personality in and even Abed's meta-tastic comments! Of course I started it for the Jeff/Annie and that's why I'll keep reading it, but it's genuinely delightful for the study group's entire dynamic and the choas that is this bunch of weirdos in the cafeteria. Totally worth the read! AND I'll get Jeff/Annie out if it! :D :D :D (Future Jeff/Annie.)
Durarara!!: Opposites/Doctor's Business by inuyashacooks - Shinra contemplates Shizuo and Izaya, two opposite beings existing in chaotic harmony. Ahhh, I have been waiting for more fic like this to show up in the DRRR!! fandom, because I've wanted something that's almost a poetic sort of take on Shizuo and Izaya, which this fic delivered to me wonderfully. Shinra is a fantastic character to set the pov from, because he's not on one side or the other, but can still be observant about both of them. The insights into both characters is interesting, the physical descriptions of both of them are fantastic, and I... I could stay awhile in this fandom for work like this, I suspect. (Implied Shizuo/Izaya, sort of.)
Durarara!!: Wagon Wheel by inuyashacooks - I know there are other fics on this post, but I'm saving all the non-Shizuo/Izaya ones for when I'm more properly caught up. Right now I just want these two for awhile. And this is another interesting piece, about another endless chase between Shizuo and Izaya, capturing and escaping, all tied up in Shizuo's anger and Izaya's crazy, which play off each other beautifully in this fic. The writing is just as lovely as the previous fic and, even if it's sort of a routine of sorts for the characters, it's a nice bit of insight into them. (Sort of Shizuo/Izaya, maybe.)
Gravitation: The Routine by cuethe_pulse - So, I'm sitting here going, okay, I'll just read this little 100-word drabble, but I don't rec things like this, noooo. AND THEN I READ IT. SHIT. IT WAS SO PERFECT AND HILARIOUS and I fell in love with it. Just a tiny little moment in Eiri and Shuuichi's day. Of course that's what would happen, poor Eiri. XD (Eiri/Shuuichi.)
Naruto: Paper Cut by measuringlife - Okay, this was just total cuteness with Iruka getting a papercut and Kakashi manages to show up at ~*just the right time*~ and you get the sense that somehow he knowsssss. But you can't help being attracted to him anyway! Damn Kakashi. And the fic was just this really fun piece that served to get me slowly back towards being in a Naruto mood again. :Db (Kakashi/Iruka.)
Totally Captivated: In Heat by lovefujitez - So, having finished all of Totally Captivated, I pretty much immediately set out for fandom and went to look for fic. 31_days is the first place I found anything and this was a cute fic that played on all the things I loved about Mookyul/Ewon and their dysfunctional yet somehow functional relationship. They're apart for several days here, while Ewon has to travel for a bit, and it's an interesting look at how far they've both come, how much more stable their relationship is, even as it still has all the same quirks as before. (Moonkyul/Ewon.)
Totally Captivated: Untitled by lovefujitez - Since the author had another fic, well, of course I had to go read it. I am clawing at the walls for more of a fandom for this series! And this was another one of those fics where I really like how the author gets their progress, even as the little touches are all the same. Mookyul is still posessive and a total dick at times, Ewon is still put-upon and annoyed, but it's... better, there's trust and balance there now. So, it's cute to see Ewon come home after a long day and Mookyul obviously missed him in his cranky way and things go about how you'd expect. XD (Mookyul/Ewon.)
Bleach Doujinshi (raw): Emperaror dan dance - [Note: There are multiple doujinshi on this page, so you may have to Ctrl+F to find the one I'm specifically recommending.] ....okay, yeah, I pretty much clicked onto this post because it promised me potential Aizen/Momo gags and I wanted them. It's not a huge part of the doujinshi and the scans are very inconsitent, but... the artwork is actually nice, there's a lot of gen interaction between pairings I'm interested in, and also I WOULD TOTALLY BE DOWN FOR MOMO OWNING AIZEN THAT WAY. It'd be hilarious. So, I have to admit, I enjoyed this one! (Lots of potential pairings, but is really pretty gen. A couple of pages of Aizen/Momo gag.)

Also, there are multiple doujinshi on this page, so you may have to Ctrl+F to find the one I'm specifically recommending.] Okay, I'll admit upfront that Hibari is more blushy and wide-eyed during sex than I'd like him to be, but I get over this for a handful of reasons. One, the art is really pretty in a lot of the panels. Two, it's doujinshi, you take these things with a whole pinch of salt. And, three, the most important one (no, I like, the art is the most important part, that's why I read doujinshi, but, shhh, I'm pretending to have standards here), Hibari goes back to his blank, bored face immediately afterwards. Or his violent "I am going to kill something soon" face. Or his evil smirk that means he's going to kill something soon. Or-- well, yes. Also, wow, Dino is really hot in this one and there is tying Hibari to the headboard while Dino fucks him and, yeah, I can own that kink for this doujinshi. Also, there's a kiss in the snow. I can sit through almost anything for a kiss in the snow! (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Also, there are multiple doujinshi on this page, so you may have to Ctrl+F to find the one I'm specifically recommending.] Much about what I said with the previous doujinshi rec also applies to this one (since they're by the same doujinshika), except this time it's Dino and Hibari at a summer festival and as;dfljkas;ljk oh god I love Dino with pretty much everything I have. He's so besotted with Hibari and the doujinshika draws him so beautifully at times and then there's makeouts in the grass where no one can see them! I love it! I admit, I kind of skimmed over the stuff with Yamamoto and Gokudera, but any time Gokudera was in the background clinging to Tsuna? There was a part of me that was struggling not to make cute little icons out of it. All in all, it was a really fun little treat to find this one posted here. (Dino/Hibari, some potentially implied Yamamoto/Gokudera/Tsuna complications? A slight NSFW content warning.)

Also, there are multiple doujinshi on this page, so you may have to Ctrl+F to find the one I'm specifically recommending.] So, the summary posted along with this one was: After training on the school rooftop, Dino and Hibari have sexy tiems in the infirmary. And, yeah, that's pretty much what this is--an excuse for Dino and Hibari to have sex in the infirmary after another training session on the roof. It's not my favorite art style (and it reminds me terribly of someone's style, but I can't quite put my finger on it), but the doujinshika certainly didn't shy away from the porn and I definitely appreciate that after the last couple of R-rated doujinshi. It was a nice way to cap off this post, that was for sure. XD (Dino/Hibari, NC-17.)
Katekyou Hitman REBORN! Doujinshi (raw): Buon Compleanno - Ahhh, more of exactly what I've been wanting from this pairing's doujinshi! But Lion*Punch does art that I'm super fond of, so I wind up liking pretty much anything she does. This one is a short story, where Dino is busy for awhile, which means he asks Hibari to leave him alone for one day and, well. Hibari being Hibari, you don't realize what you've done until it's too late and it's been a month since you've seen him and they're both adorable morons about their relationship. It's a funny, sweet, kinda cracky thing that I really loved, especially that Hibari remained himself the entire time and Dino was super hot and awesome and the art was gorgeous. There were certain panels of this one, especially during the close-ups while they were in bed together, were just beautifully done. *__* Oh and! The ending was PERFECT. I love Dino's men a lot, too. XD (Dino/Hibari, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Doujinshi (scanslated): the other way round - So, I noticed there were some new MaruMa doujinshi scanslations and, oh, I couldn't resist, not with the doujinshi-mood I've been in lately. And, OH, MY HEART, at this doujinshi! Yuuri decides that, to keep checks and balances going, in order to not let himself get too big of a head, that someone else should be the Maou for a day... and, naturally, settles on Conrad. I love how Yuuri is just totally over the moon for Conrad, who seems perfect in his eyes, but the audience sees that Conrad really isn't that perfect, he's just ridiculously in love with Yuuri and can't help always smiling at him. Plus, oh, man, the ending of this just got to me, it was so perfect. (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (scanslated): A Star Falling in the Blink of an Eye 1 - Moar MaruMa doujinshin! o/ This time, Yuuri bumps his head and the memories in his soul get amnesia, so he can't understand the language anyone else is speaking, except Conrad speaks some English/Japanese, so it's a struggle to help him learn all over again. And it's all about the utter cuteness of their interaction, the quiet intimacy they have together, and ROCCA's simple but so very lovely art, where you can just see the emotions written all over their faces. Ahhh, I really do love this pairing ridiculously because of doujinshi like this! (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (scanslated): A Star Falling in the Blink of an Eye 1 - The second half of this storyline (it won't make much sense without the first half) is even better because, oh, Yuuri, I really do love him so. I love how very dear Conrad clearly is to him and how not being able to speak properly with him really frustrates Yuuri because he wants to be able to tell Conrad things, especially on his birthday. And I love how the art is just perfect for this series continues to be just perfect for it--simple, but full of emotion and lovely in every panel. It's such a squishy, warm and fuzzy, adorable storyline, but that really works for these two, especially since it's not really resolved, they just clearly have deep feelings for each other. It was perfect. ♥ (Conrad/Yuuri.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 3) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 3 in a series of linked doujinshi.] I am still really loving this series! 70 pages of awesome, because you get a bit more information on how the pirate ship in the painting works and the doujinshika gets further into both Zoro and Sanji's backgrounds and issues, it furthers the plot along nicely by connecting these two even more than before. I love that Zoro, despite being an emotional idiot most of the time, is the one who gets really invested in the relationship and won't let Sanji just run away and, OH MAN Zoro was kind of on fire in this book. When he was pissed off/angry because he thought someone had hurt his nakama or when he was being posessive of how Sanji was his nakama, not the people on this ship? You remember just how goddamned scary as hell Zoro actually is. The doujinshika does an amazing job of making him hot (and Sanji is pretty damn smoking hot, too) and showing just how dangerous Zoro really is when he's pissed off. *__* (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 4) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 4 in a series of linked doujinshi.] This is about 20 pages shorter than usual (meaning, it's only about 55 pages instead of 75 *__*), but it still packs a hell of a lot in for just one issue! This time, it's Sanji's turn to deal with his issues and reveal parts of himself to Zoro so that their connection strengthens. And they finally have sex, after a whole lot of UST for a whole lot of pages--and, almost more than the sex itself, I love the build-up to it. Sanji being in a good mood and not wanting to wait, Zoro chasing after him in the hallways of the ship, Sanji at least trying to get them into a goddamned room, the way the doujinshika can create this whole atmosphere of want and need and tension between them is fantastic. Plus, there some more insanely good art (especially on Sanji with this volume!) and more kiddy Sanji flashbacks and even an awesome as hell scene where the ship starts taking on too much water and sinking. So good. (Zoro/Sanji, NC-17 for this volume.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 5) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 5 in a series of linked doujinshi.] I'm really sad to see this series end, but... it's such a good ending that I find it hard to really complain. I loved every page of this volume, from Zoro and Sanji's fight against the water rushing in towards them to the two of them stopping to have an argument while the water is still rushing in to the two of them having to put it aside for awhile but it comes back up later to the way they have to learn to trust each other to the ending. I love that they both obviously have feelings for each other, that they're both kind of in love with the other, they're both wildly attracted to each other the entire time, but they're still Zoro and Sanji. They still fight and piss each other off all the time. Plus, the artist balances out the awesome between them again, so half of the time Sanji's getting the focus, the other half of the time Zoro is. And I cannot say enough good about the ending and both their reactions to it. And, hell, I even love that this doujinshi series created original characters that felt perfectly at home in the OP world. Just. a;sdklfjaslkj favorite OP doujinshika ever, for serious. (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): Progpose - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] This is another doujinshi by Yamato (who did the Pirate Ship Noah series) and, man, I still love her art. This is a much shorter story, it's only about 10 pages long and it's much more laid-back and thoughtful, it's Zoro and Sanji talking about feelings while they sit in the crow's nest as it snows. Because of the way she draws the characters, something like this works for me, because she gets the style and feel of One Piece down so that something like this is a real treat. (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): Yves Piaget - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] Oh, god, crying at this. The Strawhats hear of an island where roses bloom that make your emotions ten times stronger--whether happy or sad or whatever. Of course they want to visit!! And it's pure hilarity as Zoro gets dragged into things as well and his emotions get dialed up to a hundred around Sanji, who has the same effect in return and just. I love established relationship hijinks like this, especially one that fits in SO FREAKING WELL with the One Piece world. I can totally believe there's an island out there in the OP world just like this. And of course Luffy would come along right at the good point, which only made this more fabulous.. (Zoro/Sanji.)

And it's all about the utter cuteness of their interaction, the quiet intimacy they have together, and ROCCA's simple but so very lovely art, where you can just see the emotions written all over their faces. Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (scanslated): A Star Falling in the Blink of an Eye 1 - The second half of this storyline (it won't make much sense without the first half) is even better because, oh, Yuuri, I really do love him so. I love how very dear Conrad clearly is to him and how not being able to speak properly with him really frustrates Yuuri because he wants to be able to tell Conrad things, especially on his birthday. And I love how the art is just perfect for this series continues to be just perfect for it--simple, but full of emotion and lovely in every panel. It's such a squishy, warm and fuzzy, adorable storyline, but that really works for these two, especially since it's not really resolved, they just clearly have deep feelings for each other. This is also part 3 in a series of linked doujinshi.] I am still really loving this series! 70 pages of awesome, because you get a bit more information on how the pirate ship in the painting works and the doujinshika gets further into both Zoro and Sanji's backgrounds and issues, it furthers the plot along nicely by connecting these two even more than before. I love that Zoro, despite being an emotional idiot most of the time, is the one who gets really invested in the relationship and won't let Sanji just run away and, OH MAN Zoro was kind of on fire in this book. When he was pissed off/angry because he thought someone had hurt his nakama or when he was being posessive of how Sanji was his nakama, not the people on this ship? You remember just how goddamned scary as hell Zoro actually is. The doujinshika does an amazing job of making him hot (and Sanji is pretty damn smoking hot, too) and showing just how dangerous Zoro really is when he's pissed off. *__* (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): The Pirate Ship Noah (volume 4) ~To Get Windward of Her~ - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable. This is also part 4 in a series of linked doujinshi.] This is about 20 pages shorter than usual (meaning, it's only about 55 pages instead of 75 *__*), but it still packs a hell of a lot in for just one issue! This time, it's Sanji's turn to deal with his issues and reveal parts of himself to Zoro so that their connection strengthens. And they finally have sex, after a whole lot of UST for a whole lot of pages--and, almost more than the sex itself, I love the build-up to it. Sanji being in a good mood and not wanting to wait, Zoro chasing after him in the hallways of the ship, Sanji at least trying to get them into a goddamned room, the way the doujinshika can create this whole atmosphere of want and need and tension between them is fantastic. Plus, there some more insanely good art (especially on Sanji with this volume!) and more kiddy Sanji flashbacks and even an awesome as hell scene where the ship starts taking on too much water and sinking. So good. (Zoro/Sanji, NC-17 for this volume.)

This is also part 5 in a series of linked doujinshi.] I'm really sad to see this series end, but... it's such a good ending that I find it hard to really complain. I loved every page of this volume, from Zoro and Sanji's fight against the water rushing in towards them to the two of them stopping to have an argument while the water is still rushing in to the two of them having to put it aside for awhile but it comes back up later to the way they have to learn to trust each other to the ending. I love that they both obviously have feelings for each other, that they're both kind of in love with the other, they're both wildly attracted to each other the entire time, but they're still Zoro and Sanji. They still fight and piss each other off all the time. Plus, the artist balances out the awesome between them again, so half of the time Sanji's getting the focus, the other half of the time Zoro is. And I cannot say enough good about the ending and both their reactions to it. And, hell, I even love that this doujinshi series created original characters that felt perfectly at home in the OP world. Just. a;sdklfjaslkj favorite OP doujinshika ever, for serious. (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): Progpose - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] This is another doujinshi by Yamato (who did the Pirate Ship Noah series) and, man, I still love her art. This is a much shorter story, it's only about 10 pages long and it's much more laid-back and thoughtful, it's Zoro and Sanji talking about feelings while they sit in the crow's nest as it snows. Because of the way she draws the characters, something like this works for me, because she gets the style and feel of One Piece down so that something like this is a real treat. (Zoro/Sanji.)
One Piece Doujinshi (scanslated): Yves Piaget - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] Oh, god, crying at this. The Strawhats hear of an island where roses bloom that make your emotions ten times stronger--whether happy or sad or whatever. Of course they want to visit!! And it's pure hilarity as Zoro gets dragged into things as well and his emotions get dialed up to a hundred around Sanji, who has the same effect in return and just. I love established relationship hijinks like this, especially one that fits in SO FREAKING WELL with the One Piece world. I can totally believe there's an island out there in the OP world just like this. And of course Luffy would come along right at the good point, which only made this more fabulous.. (Zoro/Sanji.)
