- Peace Maker - When Morning Comes by Jan - I adore this little ficlet for being such pretty smut, while still maintaining the intensity of the characters and the sex. It doesn't need to be terribly graphic, because it's getting across the sensation rather than the description. There's beautiful imagery here, a lovely sort of intimacy and strength. *happy sigh* I am happy fangirl now, yes. (Hijikata/Souji, R-ish content.)
- Tenjou Tenge - Untitled by hoshi no koe - Eeeee! Tenjou Tenge fic! Tenjou Tenge fic that explains Mitsuomi to me. Do you know how fabulous that is for me? And I adore this story because I thought everything felt right--down to the way Mitsuomi talked (this sort of... determined and fierce tone, but still calm and steady, not necessarily an easy mix, I wouldn't think) and the way he thought about Maya and Masataka, the two most important people to him WITHOUT being sappy about it. This Mitsuomi cares about them, but he's not conflicted, which is a wonderful thing, because he's not in the series. The way he thinks of his father is spot-on as well, the way he's not really angry so much as something like uncaring once the old man was out of the way. Just... I thought this was pretty much pitch perfect for the series and what I was hoping to find. (No real warnings/pairings, I wouldn't say, except for some spoiler warnings for those who haven't read the manga.)
- Matantei Loki Ragnarok - Mjollnir Is Kidnapped! by Yasha-hime - Okay, I don't normally do the MaLoki fanfic thing simply because I just wasn't enraptured with the series enough to read anything that didn't sort of blow me away, you know? But the summary of this fic read: Thor hates flashbacks. Loki loves them. How I could resist at least skimming something with my favorite MaLoki characters? And this story hooked me right from the beginning with a fantastic blending of the Matantei Loki Ragnarok universe with more of the myths of Norse mythology and made them INTERESTING. I loved that the author went deeper into the mythology, but wasn't just using their MaLoki faces, they were the MaLoki versions of the characters, you know? Like this really WAS the background of the anime series. It also made me laugh (because fruity Loki is HYSTERICAL here, because he's so very LOKI, because the world of the gods is so batshit and hysterical, because poor Thor is so very... THOR. In a dress. How can you not want to read that? XD XD XD)(Well, okay, normally I hate putting cuteboys gods in dresses, but it was FUNNY here and for a good reason, so I was amused.) and just sparkle over Loki evilly teasing Thor with the slight LokixThor vibe. Sparkle a lot. Because Thor's just so much fun to tease. ♥ (No warnings/pairings.)
- Prince of Tennis - Letters to Tezuka by Aishuu - This was a fun little fic to read this morning, something that made me grin as I was waking up and just... sort of put me in a good mood in the morning, you know? The thing I liked best about it, though, was the format of the story, the way it was almost short and clipped, but still told the story it was trying to tell perfectly. A series of e-mails from Ryuuzaki-sensei to Tezuka that managed to get across what needed to be gotten across to build a picture of the background world, yet still retained Ryuuzaki-sensei's speech patterns, and yet were still funny. Just... a nice, easy, fun read. XD (Several shounen-ai pairings referenced, but nothing that really took over the fic.)
- Weiss Kreuz - Uke/Seme Dynamics by Celeste - ....I cannot help giggling like mad over this fic. It's just... it's one of those things that's half parody and half regular comedy fic, but manages to find the thin line between them that's a good balance of the two and winds up just being entertaining as all hell. From the baddie in the background practically begging for death because he's been half-clawed open already to the discussion of 'types' and characteristics for seme/uke roles ("I’m particularly interested in these details. What do you mean 'my type,' huh?" / Ken stammered and turned pink around the ears again. "Y-you know! The pretty, quiet ones. The ones that write poetry and read angsty dramas and foreign books and go to art museums and use fabric softener.") to Yohji and Omi chiming in just to torment Aya to the way the fic ended. FUNNY. It's just... this is the tried and true RanKen dynamic that made me such a WK fangirl and that I sparkle so madly over. XD XD XD (AyaxKen.)
