Kyou Kara Maou!: Naive by shayheyred - Every so often, it's fun to read a fic that has Conrad being the panicky one, having realized his feelings for Yuuri and tries to stamp them back down, except it's not so easily. This fic was light-hearted for all of that and sailed right along for me, another fun read in this fandom with lots of adorable, sweet moments between these characters--which is something I suspect will take me a very, very long time to tire of. Plus a;sdlfjkal;sjk ahahahaha the ending totally made the whole fic worth it! XD (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou!: Popcorn Buttered Fingers. by allira_dream - Oh, I loved this. Conrad and Yuuri settle into a habit of watching movies together, since Conrad is so far behind on current ones and he's also already seen a lot of the older ones and has memories of them, and it's this really warm-hearted, fluffy story that captures the feel of the series so wonderfully well. I love seeing it from Yuuri's POV as he realizes he's in love with Conrad and deals with those feelings, all set against a bunch of scenes of them watching movies together. The writing is lovely and, oh, my fangirl heart is so happy with these two. (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou!: Heaven to No One Else. by allira_dream - It's hard to describe this fic, because it's got a bit of a plot happening in the background, but it's not really the point, it's more a way to drive the Conrad/Yuuri part of the story forward. And yet I really like what the author did with that aspect of the fic, too! I think the summary does well with describing the ultimate point of the story: What happiness is about. It's about making their way forward and towards each other, step by step, as life in their world goes on. The writing is lovely and I really like the Conrad narrative here, all the "still waters run deep" emotion wrapped up in his character without making it overly dramatic. The scene with Wolfram realizing Conrad's feelings for Yuuri was especially well-done and wrenching in just the right way. But it's also a Kyou Kara Maou! fic and the ending fits that beautifully well. (Conrad/Yuuri, somewhere between R and NC-17.)
Kyou Kara Maou!: In the Royal Tradition by Pero - Okay, this was also really cute! I love interaction between the three brothers, especially when it's Gwendal being grumpy at his two younger brothers. I also love the insights into Wolfram's character, but also that Conrad gets to act... for once, he's not entirely holding himself back and that was really nice to see. But also that Gwendal's life is really hard, you guys. :| (Background Conrad/Yuuri, but it's not really the entire point.)
Ouran Koukou Host Club: Mean Things by Pero - I was all set to just read MaruMa fic today, but I was journal hopping to look for more and came across Pero's Host Club fic and it's about Tamaki and Kyouya and, well, I can hardly resist. I really like the way Tamaki draws comparisons and contrasts between Kyouya and his grandmother, the way they both frighten the crap out of people with their harsh words, yet are so completely different, even if not everyone sees that. The ending of this one especially makes it a good read, it was a great last line. (This is gen, but if you like Kyouya/Tamaki, hopefully you'll like this.)
Ouran Koukou Host Club: This Must Be How Commoners Merely Survive Instead of Expanding Their Empires for Greater Glory by Pero - Again, this could be more gen than actual pairing, but... with Tamaki practically snuggling onto Kyouya by the end, I lean more towards shipping with it. And it's just so cute and so easy to see! Tamaki happily snuggled into Kyouya's kotatsu, until the power goes out, and Kyouya's life is so hard after that. I love how casually grumpy Kyouya is and how it just slides right off Tamaki and just. a s;dlfkjaslj they are so cute. (Sort of gen, sort of Kyouya/Tamaki.)
Sailor Moon: Family Day Out by leni_ba - Of course I have a big ol' soft spot for Sailor Moon fic and I've always been fond of Mamoru especially, but it's hard to find fics that capture him well sometimes. But I really liked this one, it was sweet and fluffy the whole way through, but also it... Mamoru is interesting because he's actually not that open with affection in public, it's one of the quirks of his character, but... it's hard not to be with Usagi. Mamoru changes over time, too. Plus, cute fic where he takes Usagi and Chibi-Usa out for ice cream and watches the two of them, fond bemusement at their actions? Chibi-Usa striding that line between being a brat and being a cute little girl? So totally the thing for me this morning. ♥ (Mamoru/Usagi.)
Sailor Moon: Sanctuary by leni_ba - You know what I almos tnever see? Endymion/Serenity fic, which is weird because I love these versions of the characters! I also really like the take on their pasts and what kept them apart back then, because I can see how complicated the situation would have been for them like this. It's a tragedy just waiting to happen, you can feel it hanging over their heads, even when they're so soft and sweet and lovely together. You can feel how much they can't stay apart from each other, even when they know it'll be a disaster. I really enjoyed this a lot. ♥ (Endymion/Serenity.)
Skip Beat!: The Bridge by Pero - Ahhh, I love Ren and Yashiro interaction! Especially when Yashiro is totally pushing for Ren to acknowledge his feelings for Kyouko and his life is so incredibly difficult because Ren is so... Ren. I love Yashiro's unfailingly cheerful determination, I love his surprise attacks on Ren, and I love the lolz at the Yamapi reference. Man, I know it's not physically possible, but I kind of pine for a Yamapi/Kyouko drama now! (Implied Ren/Kyouko.)
Skip Beat!: The Wink by Golden meliades - Oh, this was delightful! Kyouko has a photoshoot at the beach with the Dark Moon cast and she's really nervous about it, so Ren manages (in his way) to help her out with it. I love how spot on the dialogue and tone is with these characters, how the author gets their delicious tension down perfectly, while still managing to make me laugh like crazy at their antics. I love how very difficult she makes Ren's life without Kyouko even realizing it (and believably so!) and Yashiro is trying not to die of lolz in the background and then it's just... it can go from hilarious to really sweet and heart-warming while still feeling natural. I love it, it's one of those fics that really does justice to the series. (Sort of Ren/Kyouko.)
Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (raw): Nemurenai Yoru no Ohanashi - [Note: This post is locked, but the comm is freely joinable.] So, I've been in a ConYuu mood again, obviously. Which means, of course, I had to go seeking out more doujinshi! I've seen a few around before, but I'm making more of a concentrated effort to hunt them all down this time--and this was a delightful little treat to stumble over. It's only about 20 pages or so, just a simple sort of laid-back story, almost day in the life sort of thing, but it's several sweet moments between the characters and a little bit of porn (very light stuff, but still kind of NSFW) and sunlit mornings with Conrad's shirt half undone while Yuuri sleeps against him or Conrad trying to get Yuuri out of bed in the morning. It's just really happy-making. (Conrad/Yuuri, somewhere between R and NC-17.)

Also, the images are embedded into the post, so you may want to skip if you're on dialup.] I admit, this doujinshi is kind of hard to follow when you're not as familiar with the storyline of the novels, but it can stand well enough on its own, I think? Sort of. It's very pretty at any rate and I really like the way it starts out--so cute and just sort of a normal day and Yuuri's chaotic life, with Conrad the one calm part of it. The scene out in the courtyard after Yuuri wakes up from a nap is really sweet and the sex a bit later on is just as sweet and lovely to see. I really like the way this doujinshika draws Conrad especially! And asd;lifjasljk the short story in the second half, with Yuuri standing at the window when Conrad comes up behind him to drape his military jacket over Yuuri's bare shoulders is the kind of thing I loooooove. *__* (Conrad/Yuuri, a light R or so.)

Also, the images are embedded into the post, so you may want to skip if you're on dialup.] There's a link to a scanslated version of the first half, which I found a lot easier to read, of course, but the second half is still quite readable with the raw+translation version. I love that this story contains two of my favorite things--crack and porn! Oh, and pretty art! I also really like that it's from Yuuri's POV and showing his feelings for/attraction to Conrad, how he can't help gravitating towards Conrad even when he's kind of flaily about it. Plus, there's shots of Conrad sleeping (that are really kind of lovely *_*) and then pretty porn in a pretty bed and I'm just a sucker for that kind of thing. I think there's supposed to be a third part, but I can't find it? Ah, well, these two stand on their own nicely, too. (Conrad/Yuuri, somewhere around an R or a light NC-17.)

They duck into a room that Conrad ~*luckily*~ has a key for and the maids come by and allllmost overhear them having sex up against the door. It's cute and fluffy and really fun, with some occasionally darling art. I am pleased. ♥ (Conrad/Yuuri, a light R at most, but still a little NSFW.)

Doujinshi (scanslation): Born to Make You Happy - [Note: The images are embedded into the post, so you may want to skip if you're on dialup.] Okay, this is another one of those doujinshi that just gets to me. I really love ROCCA's art for these two, you can just see all the detail that went into the little things with her characters and I'm really fond of the smoothness of her lines and how pretty she draws them both. But, even more than that, I love how she draws their expressions and body language--even when Conrad is acting for Yuuri's sake (because he has to pretend to be the master while Yuuri is the servant, so no one finds out who Yuuri is), you can feel his real emotions. And the gentle way he touches Yuuri after their pretend act on the deck is just asdl;fkjaslkj so wonderful. I adored this a lot. (Conrad/Yuuri.)
Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (scanslation): Omokage - I picked this one up because it had Conrad on the cover, of course, but I wasn't quite sure what I was going to get with it. I was hoping for Conrad/Yuuri, but what I actually got was kind of even more interesting--it's a book focused on Conrad and all of the relationships he has with people, which is something I've really enjoyed about him in the series. There's a huge focus on Yuuri, because that is the center of Conrad's character, but the great thing about him is that there's still so much more. His friendship with Yozak, his strained relationship with Wolfram, his connection to Cheri, his interactions with Yuuri's parents, all of it really highlights how well-rounded a character he is. And it's a great piece of insight for Conrad--he's a lot more than just smiles and being supportive of Yuuri, there's a lot of painful history there, too. Not to mention, wow, is the art of this one ever gorgeous. *__* (Maybe slightly Conrad/Yuuri, with implications of Conrad/Julia. But I'd say it's on the level of canon.)
Kyou Kara Maou! Doujinshi (scanslation): Lion Heart - Oh, speaking of lovely art in a doujinshi! I wasn't sure what it was going to be like just from the cover, but it's actually really lovely! There are especially some panels of Conrad that are kind of gorgeous and I really, really wish there'd been more porn, because what little there was looked beautiful. I liked the story aspect as well--somehow, Conrad and Yuuri finally tumble into bed together and Yuuri doesn't know what to make of it the next day, confused and unsure of how it happened. Conrad offers to forget, but Yuuri realizes that he doesn't want to let go that easily and it's just. This sweet, lovely story was really nice to read today. (Conrad/Yuuri.)
