ARASHI: untitled by Aegis - Sometimes I think I can't possibly love Aegis any more than I already do. But then she writes drunk!Shun conning his way into Jun's apartment at fuck a.m. and it's amazing, so then I love her even more. It's this beautiful dynamic of crankiness and obvious adoring on both sides, filled with little touches of hilarity as Shun drunkenly gets ready to crash at Jun's place. The little ways he obviously beams at Jun, the way he messes with him, the way he's an adorable fruit loop, the way I can just picture all of it, it's amazing. It's beautifully written, it's genuinely funny, and I even love the line it strides between friendship and maybe something more, which is perfect. I am in love with the author, with Oguri Shun, with Matsumoto Jun, and the entire world right now. (Shun/Jun.)
ARASHI: Gallant by Honooko - Lately, especially after his appearance on Shiyagare, I have had a thing for Oguri Shun again, especially his interactions with Arashi. And then Ho wrote this for me! Because she loves me and she knows I love Shun/Jun with a fierce, fierce passion and it's full of banter between them, the kind that I absolutely love! My favorite thing about their dynamic and how they are on this fic is that they give each other all sorts of shit, but the entire time you know they love each other ridiculously, you can feel how they're practically beaming at each other, even as Jun's calling him horseface again and Shun's thinking up yet another nickname for him and trying to get into Jun's pants. I love Shun trying to get into Jun's pants, like you wouldn't believe. This put a ridiculous smile on my face, too. ♥ (Shun/Jun.)
ARASHI: untitled by Aegis - Sometimes I think maybe I shouldn't jump all over every comment fic, exploding all over the author with showers of sparkly love, and then repeating the process here, but you know what? I got commentfic with amazing banter and porn, so you can all go suck it if you're judging me for being an obnoxious fangirl. I am in my happy place. Based on a comment about Jun liking to be in the middle, Aegis wrote this amazing, AMAZING piece of Ohno/Aiba/Jun, which has never been written very often, certainly not like this. They hold a conversation over Jun's head while he's between them and it's kind of ridiculously hot, all the more so because you can really feel how much they really care about him and because it kind of turns him on all the more. It's my two favorite Jun pairings put together beautifully and the writing is lovely, the porn is beautiful, and has an amazing ending line. I want her in the fandom forever. (Ohno/Jun/Aiba, NC-17.)
ARASHI: Between Friends by Circe - I admit, I read this one because I have a thing for Oguri Shun lately, but the Shun/Jun/Toma is pretty aces, as is the Toma/Jun, which isn't a ship I expected to find myself enjoying as much as I did here. But Circe makes it work wonderfully, she has a great balance between the threesome/the friendship they both have with Shun and the Toma/Jun relationship that's unsteady and taking its first steps, all wrapped up in amazing humor and awesome sex. This fic has one of the most intense frottage scenes I've ever read and it was wonderful for that, but I have to admit. Shun being a fruit loop and Jun's Spidey Sense tingling and the inclusion of Nino in the background (well, and the scene with him and Shun in the extras) is what kept me rereading this fic more times than I'd like to admit. Circe has an amazing sense for dialogue and humor and comedic pacing, it's brilliant every time she writes, and, oh, god, I think I hurt something IN MY FACE with all the :D :D :D I did while reading every single line of Shun's here. Especially the extra with Nino, that was the most amazing thing I've read in forever, for real. I just. I want to live on the edges of her brain and stay there forever and watch everything that runs through her head, that's how much I love that Shun and Nino conversation. (Shun/Toma/Jun, Toma/Jun, NC-17.)
ARASHI: Foreplay by nicefinalbeam - There was something that I can't quite put my finger on with this fic that I really liked. Something about the hesitancy and unsureness mixed in with how much Aiba really wants Jun, something about the way there's something that felt very real here. Sure, I went into this fic for the promised bj scene (which was very nice ♥) and the little touches of humor and characterization that made them feel so on-target. But it was that sense I couldn't quite put my finger on, all the while Aiba's trying to get his hand down Jun's pants and Jun's very... Jun about it, that clash between Aiba just doing things and Jun being on CONSTANT VIGILANCE, it was very them. I just really adored this one a lot--plus, the ending is fantastic! ♥ (Aiba/Jun, somewhere around NC-17.)
ARASHI: you're the catalyst (that makes things faster) by littlealex - This is another one of those fics that has a certain quality that I'm going to be terrible at describing. There's a certain intensity and depth to the feeling of it, the way Jun's feelings and reactions are described as he tries to sort everything out and/or just push it all back down when he obviously likes Aiba and doesn't quite know what to make of Aiba's behavior. It's beautifully written and the second person POV isn't usually one of my favorites, but it works wonderfully here. It's just a lovely piece all the way around. ♥ (Aiba/Jun, R rating, NSFW.)

Especially when she starts off with, "Your butt is totally magical for headaches!" Shun protests. "You should try yourself. I feel better already." because Shun LOVES Jun, okay. Also, she apparently has psychic powers because I'd just been thinking about a Shun/Jun/Nino threesome and then! Magic! She wrote this! And it doesn't even need makeouts, because it has hangovers instead! And Nino being delightfully evil! And Shun being a cheerful fucker, too! And Jun not knowing why he loves these people! And it ends with an amazing scene with Aiba in Jun's apartment and it's both less and more gay than you'd think it was. Beautiful. ♥ (Sort of Shun/Jun/Nino, but sort of just friendshippy, too.)
ARASHI: untitled by Circe - This is actually a series of about three ficlets together in a comment thread, sort of connected to each other, sort of not. It's about the Jun - Mao - Shun - Nino dynamics, little scenes focused on different aspects and friendships, all of them amazing gems that are right in my wheelhouse these days, especially with Shun and Mao's drama coming up. I firmly like to believe they'll be totally evil together and make Jun's life hell because they ~*like*~ him and that's how they show their affection and then Circe wrote this amazing piece that I just-- I can't even-- It's too amazing. And then she wrote Jun/Mao from the Hanadan days and, holy hell, I should have been thinking, "But where is Shun? I am in an Oguri Shun mood, I want him in there noooooow!" but instead the only thought in my head was, "Wow, that is hot. And amazing. And hot." Then Nino and Mao together! Because Nino is amazing, too. All of these together are just an amazing set and make me love this fandom all over again. ♥ (All combinations of Shun/Mao/Jun/Nino, sort of. Jun/Mao NSFW, probably a hard R rating.)
Community: Hung Up and Overdue by michellek - You know, when I watch the show, I'm mostly content with wherever it wants to go, but when I get to fandom? I want the porn. Thankfully, fandom likes to give me things sometimes! This was a quick piece, but a nicely done one, with just the right amount of meta commentary and just the right amount of porn for what it was going for. I liked the way it was set ten years down the line and that UST was still there, but now they're a little older and you can tell that even in the way they're grinding against each other. ....wow, this was a terrible rec, but it was a delightful fic! <3 (Jeff/Annie, NC-17.)
Junjou Romantica: The Monster that is Green by deecherrywolf - I have this list of things in the Junjou Romantica fandom that I pretty much never get tired of and it's constantly growing longer. Another thing to add to that list? Hiroki being jealous when someone else pays attention to Nowaki! Not that he's actually jealous, not at all, he's not! And Nowaki can just quit smiling right now! And, ahhhh, I love a clearly jealous Hiroki who will never admit it, but he and Nowaki understand each other well enough anyway. This was just really cute and fun with jealous!Hiroki being the main attraction of it. (Nowaki/Hiroki.)
Junjou Romantica: Compromise by Nefariously - It's hard to describe what I liked about this fic, aside from that I'm easy for slice of life stuff when it comes to Nowaki and Hiroki. The writing is a little rough, but the character insight from Nowaki re: Hiroki (especially how he sees Hiroki as a slightly snobby child at times) really worked for me here, the combination of the tone and the characterization making it this really cute, sweet little piece. I like that Hiroki is probably hard to deal with even on the good days like this, that Nowaki silently bears it and wouldn't change anything for the world, that felt very on to me. (Nowaki/Hiroki.)
Junjou Romantica: Old Men Never Lie by Faye-Naruse - I have to admit, there's something about Miyagi musing on Hiroki's type--and how Nowaki doesn't quite seem like Hiroki's type to him, but after his author friend visits, that's more like Hiroki's type--and Hiroki's reaction to this speculation that will always, always amuse me. This was just a fun little piece to read and, man, I'd read Miyagi and Hiroki antics all day long if I could. ♥ (Background Nowaki/Hiroki, implied Akihiko/Hiroki.)
Junjou Romantica: The Day After by Eike - You know, I don't recall having read this one before? Eh, if it's a re-rec, that happens sometimes. But I read it again this afternoon and it just.... Granted, I've been really obsessive about Nowaki/Hiroki for the past few weeks so I'm a little more invested than a lot of people, but. This is a short piece set the day after the scene in the library and it's perfect. It's hesitant and a little unsure, but also so much better and they understand a lot more now and I love this Hiroki who still struggles, but paid attention to the lessons he learned. I loved this fic because I could feel the depth of their emotions so clearly in it, without it being over the top or melodramatic, it did a fantastic job of conveying just how much they love each other and desperately want each other and how much it means to both of them to be together like this. (Nowaki/Hiroki.)
Junjou Romantica: Of Secret Admirers by Eike - Is this another one I somehow managed to skip? Shame on me. (Or else shame on me for the re-rec, whatever.) But it was nice to have this morning when I was running low on JR fic to read and really just wanted something fun. Which this fic totally was! Oh, I love Hiroki so much, especially when he's oblivious to the secret admirer he has and Miyagi has fun at his expense because Miyagi is just that kind of hilarious bastard. I honestly can't decide whom I loved more here, Hiroki or Miyagi or even the poor woman who had a crush on Hiroki. This is why the Miyagi/Hiroki relationship is something I wish were touched on more in fandom because it's full of potential for screamingly funny scenes like these. (Background Nowaki/Hiroki and Miyagi/Shinobu.)
Kamen Rider Kabuto/Gekiranger: untitled by Circe - Out of the blue, Circe drops this amazing commentfic that I pretty much made :D :D :D faces through the entire way. You know, when I wasn't just about bawling at the amazingness of it. Because it's everything a Gekiranger and Kabuto crossover should be! Hilarity of putting all those crazy people in the same room (oh my god, Jan and Tendou in the same room and it is as beautiful as you would imagine, I love her Jan with a fiery passion, but also her everyone) and the contrasts and comparisons against each other are lovely , but mostly it's just screamingly funny. She has an amazing way of making every character shine even with just a few sentences, because I loved every single person in this fic, for real. Just a short commentfic from her and I'm back to being in love with the world again, man, Circe should be in every fandom I'm ever in. ♥ (No real warnings/pairings.)
Naruto: A Thoughtful, Moving Exploration of Passionate Youth by The Hoyden - [ part 01 - part 02 ] - I'm with the crowd of people that sort of went, "....what?" when I saw the pairing for this fic, but decided to give it a try because of the author anyway. But, then, I think Iruka is a really good match for some of the more crazy personalities in the Naruto series, because he gives great reactions and is an excellent grounding force. So, I decided to read this one. And proceeded to read both parts in one sitting while flapping my hands in glee because, omg, it was so completely adorable. I loved how sweet it was even while it was crazy, I love that it was a completely mutual relationship, I love that it just made me happy and beaming to read the fic, I love that it was so utterly hilarious I was giggling wildly during all the right parts. I love the Kakashi cameos and I love that they didn't overshadow the Gai/Iruka romance, I love the inclusion of Naruto and Lee, I love that this was an AU that developed a little differently from the canon timeline, but made sense of all of them. I love the characterization for everyone here and I love the sex and the makeouts and the adorable blushing and I love Gai's enthusiasm for everything and I just. I love the idiot grin I have on my face after reading this. I totally ship it now. ♥ (Gai/Iruka, NC-17.)

Naruto: A Thoughtful, Moving Exploration of Passionate Youth by The Hoyden - [ part 01 - part 02 ] - I'm with the crowd of people that sort of went, "....what?" when I saw the pairing for this fic, but decided to give it a try because of the author anyway. But, then, I think Iruka is a really good match for some of the more crazy personalities in the Naruto series, because he gives great reactions and is an excellent grounding force. So, I decided to read this one. And proceeded to read both parts in one sitting while flapping my hands in glee because, omg, it was so completely adorable. I loved how sweet it was even while it was crazy, I love that it was a completely mutual relationship, I love that it just made me happy and beaming to read the fic, I love that it was so utterly hilarious I was giggling wildly during all the right parts. I love the Kakashi cameos and I love that they didn't overshadow the Gai/Iruka romance, I love the inclusion of Naruto and Lee, I love that this was an AU that developed a little differently from the canon timeline, but made sense of all of them. I love the characterization for everyone here and I love the sex and the makeouts and the adorable blushing and I love Gai's enthusiasm for everything and I just. I love the idiot grin I have on my face after reading this. I totally ship it now. ♥ (Gai/Iruka, NC-17.)
