→ fandomsecrets that I found particularly interesting again:
» "I hate [Shizuo/Izaya] and its goddamned fangirls *RAEG*" - and asdlf;kjaslkj oh god it is still so delicious. I'm not invested enough in the fandom to actually give a shit about the insult, so I'm just enjoying the thought of the haters sitting there and endlessly gnashing their teeth. It cheers me when I need cheering up. I don't usually laugh this hard at butthurt (after about five minutes it turns into "dude, who peed in your Cheerios this morning?") but somehow this one has been endlessly entertaining.
» "I think Yuki/Shuuichi was the greatest love story I've ever read" + commentors going BOO GRAVITION BLOWS - normally, I try to be pretty live and let live and, yeah, I get why a lot of people dislike this anime (either just hate it or they prefer the manga), but it makes me want to write this three page long defense of it. Which isn't about how Eiri and Shuuichi have this great, sweet, perfect, epic love, but more that it was about how it was actually one of the better portrayals of someone with depression and the aftermath of gang rape that I've seen. Saying "I love you" or giving him hugs or even proving that Shuuichi would stay through all his crap didn't make it all better, in fact it kind of made it worse because it forced Eiri out of the emotional walls he'd built around himself and brought up all these god-awful memories. Eiri was deeply and truly fucked up and he was getting slowly better, but it wasn't easy and I appreciated a series that showed that. And I appreciated that they (imo) kinda showed that Shuuichi wasn't really all better by the end, either, just that he was holding on for Yuki's sake, because Yuki couldn't handle him having a melt down and I'm pretty sure Shuuichi's going to have a major meltdown in the future, but right now he's holding himself together with duct tape and determination and asdl;fkjaslkj they were so deliciously fucked up and yet sort of good for each other and genuinely loved each other even amongst all the crap. THAT IS WHAT I LIKED ABOUT IT. Blah, blah, blah, /ridiculous gravitation fan.
