Notes/Babbling: Okay, see, I just meant to do one or two fanart sites. Then I found a One Piece site I really liked. And then I hit the Byakko J-webring to see if I could find any HaruToki sites. And then... well, yes. _o_ Sorry about the posting twice in 24 hours, I usually try to avoid that.
Series:
Prince of Tennis - 1 Fanfic
    Saiyuki - 3 Fanfics
    One Piece - 1 Fanart
Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - 3 Fanart

- Prince of Tennis - Delta by Emily Ravenwood - *long, satisfied sigh* Given that I read these around the time of Atobe and Tezuka's birthdays, this was exactly the perfect thing I could have asked for--Tezuka/Atobe fic that's... well, yes, all the things that I could want, right down to the intelligent, elegant atmosphere and the beautiful, intense lime scene. I love the line she strides with Atobe--very full of himself, very insightful and, well, diva-ish, but not a charicature of himself. It's the same with Tezuka--he's reserved and stoic, with the passion you know he has underneath, but it's not a parody of himself. Everything feels so... in-depth, I guess, which it needs to feel like with a cast of these characters (Tezuka, Atobe, Fuji, etc.), because they're all so complex and not ones to wear everything of themselves on their sleeves. Atobe's conversation with Fuji about Tezuka is beautifully done, layered in all those little subtleties that it needed to be, sharp, pointy barbs covered in smooth, polite words on both sides, neither really giving, but still managing to get somewhere. The characterization sparkles, they're all just so... believably them and it makes my little fangirl heart go *dokidokidoki* over them. Plus? The final scene between Tezuka and Atobe? Enough to bliss me out for an entire day, for the beautiful language used, the intensity and hotness of the light smut, the dialogue that was... heart-warming without being OOC, just... ahahaha, another rec that really sucks because I'm just so delighted with the story. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ <---there, that probably sums up my reaction better (Tezuka/Atobe, R-ish content.)

- Saiyuki - 42 Days by KarotsaMused - I admit, Gojyo/Hakkai interaction isn't something I read a lot of (The litmus test for whether or not I read 90% of the Saiyuki fic I read? "Is Sanzo in it?" >__>a), but I've been eyeing this author's work for awhile and I wanted to try something short of hers and this fic was recently posted and... it's one of those stories that makes me understand a bit more about where all the 58 fans are coming from, because the moment of realization (for the reader and for Hakkai) hit me like a half a ton of bricks, in that sense that, "....oh, my god, Gojyo, you are the most wonderful person in the universe right now." Plus, the writing is sparkling, the author really just nails home both Hakkai and Gojyo's characterizations, and the idea is one of those that may be simple in nature, but is all the more powerful and sort of... real for it. Beautiful fic. (I don't know that it's actually shounen-ai, so I'd call it gen, but still put it in the Gojyo/Hakkai section.)

- Saiyuki - O Ye Of Little Faith by incandescens - This story just amused me terribly because the author really used the dialogue and short descriptions to just bring the hijinks of the story fully into my head and I could just PICTURE the whole damn thing and laughed so much. A perfect little Saiyuki omake-type thing that utterly gets the series' sense of humor and vibes with that. Plus... well, I don't want to say anything more, lest I spoil it. Just read. And giggle over poor Gojyo's plight. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Saiyuki - Before and After by JannZ - You know, Goku getting his memory back is something that's really tempting for authors to play with... but it would have to be a genuinely clever idea and execution to make it worthwhile, because otherwise the entire thing would likely feel anti-climactic. But this story didn't feel that way at all for me, it was wonderfully done--sharp, sparkling characterizations and you got to get inside each character's head to see how they were reacting to Goku waking up with only memories of the past, none of the present. The tension of the situation, of Goku's mistaking his friends for Konzen, Tenpou, and Kenren and then slowly realizing that they're not the people he knows, really hit home for me, especially when he realized that it was not Konzen in the room with them. I was especially pleased with Sanzo's characterization--he was worried, but it was in his own way, it wasn't obvious and most people honestly wouldn't even have picked it up, even if they'd known him for awhile. I also liked the end of the second chapter, it was so very... like Saiyuki, I guess. <3 (Vague reference to 58, but it's one line that's very vague, very much not the point or focus of the story.)

- One Piece - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I can already tell you, even before I get more than half a sentence into this rec, that it's going to be a bad rec because I adore this site in the kind of way that makes it hard for me to describe. The colors are light and breezy, the lines are clean and fine, with elegant arcs, and this gives the art the sense of just... they're light-hearted, but they're not shoujo, I guess is the way to put it? At any rate, I find them to be beautiful because this is my type of art. This reference is going to make sense to, like, one person other than me, most likely, but when I look at this artist, I see what I liked so much about Hashiba Labs' doujinshi (for the Yoroiden Samurai Troopers series). Zoro and Sanji look really good and the artist has this amazing underlying lineart and her coloring is so pretty and soft, so when you add it all together... *happy, happy sight* And I don't mean to imply that the art is without its impact, because there are illustrations of a battered Sanji in mid-battle or Zoro in the middle of battle or angsty rain images or really fun action-y stuff with the Skypiea clothes or any number of other really cool illustrations. The artist has this one of Sanji where he's sitting down, wearing a loose white shirt and jeans, elbow propped up against his knee to rest his head in his hand, quiet look on his face as he smokes and it's just... it's one of those most gorgeous, beautiful things I've ever seen. Or he'll be in a nice, cleanly pressed suit somewhere and... ...okay, clearly, I'm enthralled with this site. I didn't want it to end, because each illustration felt like that, just... amazing art. I'm in love. ♥__♥ THIS is my style of art, more than ANYTHING else, I think. ....I know I say that a lot, but I mean it! Note: Make sure to crawl all over the site, there's some really good stuff in the weekly section, especially the Davy Back Fight-era stuff. XD (Zoro/Sanji.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Well, since the HaruToki anime series is starting up, I wanted to spend some time combing the Byakko J-webring to find some Tomomasa/Takamichi fanart and this is one of the first ones I found that I don't think I've visited before. The very first illustration on the site that I saw was indeed one of Tomomasa and Takamichi with these lovely muted colors and their hair drawn with these beautiful shoujo waves that I'm such a fangirl for. And you can tell the artist really has a thing for Yukitaka, since you see him with a lot of people, but the main pairings are HisuixYukitaka/TomomasaxTakamichi and there's a goodly amount of art here. (Note: Be sure to find the second gallery since it has more HaruToki/HaruToki2 fanart in it.) The art often times has a sort of... sketch-like feel to it, but it works for this artist, especially with the watercolor-like effects. And then there's one of Hisui pulling a nearly de-robed (and blushing) Yukitaka towards him that made my little fangirl heart squee with delight. There are several kissing illustrations on the site, actually, which makes me terribly happy. I really had fun with this site! ♥ (Some other shounen ai, but mostly HisuixYukitaka/TomomasaxTakamichi.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I could swear I've been to this site before, because the art looks familiar to me, but I cannot find it anywhere on my links page, so I'm going to assume that I just saw it previously and hadn't rec'd it before because it's a Tomomasa/Yorihisa pairing site. Which I probably wouldn't have rec'd except... damn, she does a gorgeous Tomomasa/Hisui. Really, that's the reason I rec this site--because her single-character illustrations of both of them are just lovely and I love, love, love the pretty colors used that vibe so well with the series itself. And, honestly? That one of Tomomasa and Yorihisa with all the incredible detail to their clothes as they're about to fight with the dragon in the background? Holy shit, that's good. +__+ Oh! Oh! And I almost forgot! The other reason I rec this site is the ICONS! \o/ I have tremendous, tremendous love for any site with icons that are OMFG SO CUTE. And these are. I love them. (Some Tomomasa/Yorihisa.)

- Harukanaru Toki no Nakade - Y's Factory [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I admit, I really sat on the fence over this site for awhile because the proportions are shakey and the colors are very bright, but... you know what? This journal/site is about stuff I enjoyed and this site gave me my Katsuzane/Karin fix and that makes me happy. Especially when a lot of the illustrations are just a little bit ecchi. <3 (And some hentai if you know where to look for it.) The site isn't going to be for everyone and, hell, I wasn't sure it was going to be for me, either, but... I'm weak against my favorite pairings and there were a couple of really nice Hisui illustrations on the site or the occasional really nice Katsuzane or Yasuaki and Yasutsugu together or just whatever. I had fun. <3 (Some Katsuzane/Karin, some other/Karin.)
