Notes/Babbling: I've had a really worrisome night/morning (well, past two and a half days, actually), so please excuse the lack of responding to comments and e-mail--especially if you've shoved recs at me, I dearly appreciate it and have made notes about them all to check into them. I could have answered stuff this morning, but I probably would have been half distracted and so instead I choose to write crappy fanfic recs and bury my head into several fics to distract myself properly! ;;;;;;;;;;

- One Piece - Reckless by starah - Have you ever done anything completely reckless? Something so strange and bizarre and so out of proportion not even you realise or understand what you're actually attempting to do? I suspect this is another story that... mm, well, first of all, I wouldn't really call it Luffy/Nami, but you could read that into it if you liked (as the author states) and I suspect that it's a story that you'll probably get the most out of it if you really like the dynamic between Luffy and Nami as I do, but it's also a really good gen fic, too. Nami thinking about Luffy, all the things she considers and all the issues she has with trusting people and the way Luffy just sort of blows through all those without even realizing what he's doing, that when he looks at you and trusts you so completely you can't help but trust him back. Even when you probably should know better. But you do and he never, ever lets you down. That's one of the most touching things about One Piece and it was so nice to see it illustrated in this fic, especially knowing what happens just after when this is set, when Luffy climbs the Drum Island mountains with Nami on his back. (Not really Luffy/Nami, but I'm sticking it in both that and the gen sections.)
- One Piece - Bound & Determined by X-parrot - Eeeee! Oh, one of the things that I love so, so, so, so dearly about Zoro - Sanji interaction fic is when the author can get down the dialogue that both makes me laugh AND makes me perk up because it's so... action-y, much like the characters themselves. And X-parrot writes that dynamic wonderfully--Zoro and Sanji never get along very well, constantly sniping at each other, but it walks that fine line between two people who genuinely find each other annoying, but are still friends/comrades, who'll go to the mat for each other, even if they're bitching the other out the entire way. Her dialogue is genuinely clever and is that a TBC I spy? Oho, I definitely want more of this because it's just... that light-hearted One Piece action/friendship dynamic that made me fall so hard for the series in the first place. (Not really any warnings/pairings.)
- Gravitation - Devices of Evil by PyroTease - You know what I liked about this story? It took something relatively small-ish (Shuuichi's CD player not working anymore, thus he can't listen to music quietly) and spun a really nice fic out of it. Yuki's characterization is wonderful, still a cranky bastard, still sharp-tongued and rarely saying anything even remotely nice, but Shuuichi picks up on the little clues and understands Yuki's gestures. There were a ton of little moments that I adored--Yuki ruffling Shuuichi's hair or holding his hand out to see the broken CD player, Shuuichi's request of how Yuki should fix it (<---I found that SO AMUSING), the way Shuuichi reacts to an unmarked box in the mail, all of them hit the right notes for me, so that I found myself really sparkling over the fic. Just the thing to read to cheer me up. <3 (YukixShuuichi.)
- Gravitation - The Film by Hawk Clowd - This fic handles a concept I'd been wondering about absolutely beautifully--what did Yuki do with that roll of film he took off Aizawa? You never hear about it again and there are so many cliche things that could have been done with a story like this, but it was just... it was powerful and aching, but without going over the top about it, the characterization of both Yuki and Shuuichi so very clear and right, that it's a perfect explanation for what happened with that little canister of film. Just... ow. And, yet, the good kind of hurt. There was one moment in there, with Shuuichi's reaction to something that just... it almost felt like my breath hitched, just for a moment. Excellent story, I thought. (YukixShuuichi.)
- Bleach - Bedtime Story by puruu - Oh, jeez, this story just sort of sucker-punched me somewhere in the middle and didn't let up while Renji was telling Rukia the story about Rapunzel and just... it's one of those things that I could see slipping right into the series itself, because it's so deceptively bittersweet and heart-breaking. Lovely, gorgeous dialogue and characterization on both Rukia and Renji's parts, you could feel Renji's feelings for Rukia, the way they came out with all those little gestures and words, but you can understand how they're not obvious, either, just like the series itself. And the story's parallels to the storyling with Rukia locked in the tower were beautifully drawn and just... god, I knew I was slowly falling for this pairing (not that the fic is really a pairing fic, mind), but this just sort of sent me over the edge with them. I cry for them. ;___; (Not really Renji/Rukia, but deals with them.)
- Bleach - Why Byakuya Hates Rukia #27 by idiosyn - After the hellacious night/morning that I've had, I needed something light-hearted that could make me laugh and this fic was just the thing. One of those silly little ideas that was just perfectly carried off and, oh, god, Byakuya made me laugh so much in this fic and somehow it was just fantastic characterization even in such a short little ficlet and... hahahahaha, the ending. Beautifully hysterical. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Bleach - Black Rain [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The earlier art on this site didn't knock me over immediately, but towards the more recent stuff, there's a dramatic shift in skill, the artist really has tightened up her work and the newest stuff is flat-out amazing. There's this blue and white one of Ishida that is just... quite possibly the most gorgeous fanart of him, like, ever. There's also a Byakuya floating around somewhere on the site that's just beautifully painted/colored and there's a lot of really nice fanart of Gin (and his creepy smile .__.) and Byakuya (who looks just... cool) scattered across the site. Or the one of Ichigo and Renji snarling right in each other's faces that was SO COOL. XD And I like this site mostly for her recent stuff, for the stuff I hope she'll continue to do, but it was also really fun to go through the oekaki and sketches, to see the cute Ishida/Ichigo fanart (which is a pairing that I know isn't implied in the series at all, but that I can't help being fond of, either <3), because the artist really keeps that sense of... how aggrivated they each are by the other. ♥ Well, okay, and a few lighter, softer moments, but I'm a dippy fangirl, so I don't mind those, either. Just... a really NICE site, I liked it a lot. ♥ (Some Ishida/Ichigo, some Gin/Byakuya, a lot of gen.)
- Hellsing - [ English Fanart Site ] - ....holy shit, that is some awesome Hellsing fanart. Seriously. The one of Integral standing among the rose petals, crosses, and the dark red background? Fucking awesome fanart. Alucard's hell-dog form? AWESOME. Alucard standing over little!Integral with the gun and they're surrounded by the helldogs? More of the HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME AND TOTALLY DESERVES THE GRATUTITOUS SWEARING. The colors are just incredible, but it's the sense of... style and level of detail and image concepts combined with those colors that make these fanart illustrations just stunningly in tune with the series. I'm just... I'm left with that same impression I had after watching the anime, that, "....that was the coolest thing I have ever seen. .____." feeling. ....and, dammit, it makes me want to read the manga again. ~___~ (I dunnot that I'd list any pairings or warnings other than the usual warnings that apply to Hellsing in general.)
- Eyeshield 21 - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I rec this site for a couple of reasons--one, I had fun going through the galleries and looking at the Shin/Sakuraba and Hiruma/Sena and other shounen-ai friendly art. Two, becasue some of the more recent Hiruma/Sena illustrations are nice (and I admit to being a dippy fangirl and cooing over the one of them in full football gear hugging or the one of them in the grass with Hiruma's head in Sena's lap). And, three, because the art is really kinda nice. It's not normally my favorite style, but I've come to appreciate it. The artist's colors are especially nice and her lines really have a good amount of detail to them in the later illustrations. So, just a nice site with the characters I like, I can't ask for more than that. ^_~ (Some Shin/Sakuraba, some Hiruma/Sena, some other shounen ai.)
