Notes/Babbling: Snugs and love and all that other squeeing fangirl fluff to everyone I didn't get a chance to talk to tonight, since I took still yet more a little time off tonight to write recs and after all of this I'm spent. Once again, almost broke my own record, but I dunno if this time counts since so many of them were short little fics. Anyway. Yes. Hopefully, this'll sate my restless desire to get something accomplished and I go back to loafing around on AIM and idly surfing LJ again this weekend. ^_~

- Death Note - LxLight drabble by sinistera - This is yet another fic that put a smile on my face that sort of baffles me because... Death Note fic that makes me happy/smiley? And yet it works. It's just... L... Raito... taking a bath together... heeheehee...! Oh, god, poor Raito being tormented by L is just the funniest thing ever. I giggled the whole time. ♥ (A little bit LxRaito.)
- Hanazakari no Kimitachi e - untitled by Hana - Okay. So. Hana offered to write a drabble with two names from her list of favorite characters. She was unwise enough to list pretty much the entire cast of HanaKimi. Which meant I pounced on her for Akiha and Umeda fic and any guilt I might have had about being obnoxious about it flew right out of the window when she wrote an utterly brilliant little fic. Her Akiha is utterly fantastic, not just funny and sparkly, but genuinely clever. She also has a way with words and imagery that is perfect for this series (and just plain old good writing), something that I could have just SO EASILY seen in the manga itself, and I squee with the love. ....no, seriously. I made obnoxious squeeing and burbling sounds when she posted this. This is the Akiha and Sensei that I fell so in love with. (Akiha/Umeda.)
- Good Omens - Orientation Day by toscas_kiss - Another little GO snippet that just makes me smile because I've become so fond of the characters, because it's funny (especially if you've ever had to deal with an orientation day ever *twitch*), and because the writing is genuinely charming and clever. Also, the bit with the coffee was fantastic. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Argyle - This was a lovely little short fic, very much with the sort of gentle tension (I hesitate to call it quite UST or regular tension, since that implies a sort of fierceness to it that doesn't fit with the characters here) that's good with Crowley and Aziraphale; and what I really took away from this fic was... the feeling of senuality and intimacy, but without it being hurried, rushed, or out of character. Plus, Crowley and Aziraphale dancing oughtn't have worked, but somehow... I could just see this, it was just the right pace, tone, and setting for it. (Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - Hopefully Towards by derryderrydown - Oh, oh! I liked this story and the way it played with Adam and the days after the not-Apocalypse and how everything, when you think about it, did seem sort of suspicious here, the way the author wrote Adam (which was really well-done, the way he is such a child in a lot of ways, the way he thinks and the way he relates to the world and how you have to talk to him to get him to understand) and, well, the way the fic ended, which just seemed so very... well, it's good. Something like happy. I love that. But it's also for lines like: Adam's expression downgraded Crowley from 'idiot' to 'brains of a pedigree setter'. (Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - Of Falling Without Landing by Jiasa Stormcloud - Aziraphale sat silently for a moment, not quite sure what to say. What, exactly, did social protocol call for in this particular situation? Crowley was one of Them. From Below. A Demon. The preordained tension between Above and Below required exhausting amounts of mental capital letters. So what was the appropriate civil reaction to sitting across from a demon at a feudal lord's feast?
- Good Omens - The First Day of the Rest of Your Life by Janie - Oh, I really liked the author's take on Adam and Eve here, the way they interacted, the way Adam would explain so many things to Eve, the way Crawly watched them, his reactions to them, the way he talked to Eve, the way it all ended, the way everything just sort of felt... very much in the spirit of Good Omens. I also especially loved Crawly's run-in with the angel in the story, that was just great, and the ending was... marvelous, really. :D (No warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - Aziraphale&Desire by notassuch - I liked this story because it was an interesting way to get across Aziraphale's feelings, by using Desire, the way it's not a huge Moment, but that there's a certain tension running through the entire scene, what it says (or at least indicates) about Aziraphale and his relationship with Crowley, all wrapped up in lovely language, a certain weight to everything, and something that just... felt right. (Vague Aziraphale/Crowley.)
- Good Omens - Crowley and Zira go to Hollywood Yay! by lovelyzelda - Crowley owning a movie studio just for fun was somehow just really, really funny. Half because it parallels actual execs and half just because it's Crowley being Crowley and then being even more Crowley with Aziraphale. Plus, the bit about the funny hats made me laugh. <3 (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - It's Saturday Night by lovelyzelda - This is one of those stories that's fun to read simply because it's so very in line with the characters, with such great bits of conversation that are great. It's a short little story about a Friday night where neither of them really have anything better to do and in the course of it, you get several of those little gems that are so very them. The very end one still makes me giggle madly for some reason, it was just perfectly comedically timed in the style of the book, I thought. Hee. (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - Untitled by lovelyzelda - Over the years "fought enemy, emerged victorious" and variations had been liberally sprinkled throughout the demon and the angel's reports. Roughly translated it almost always meant "Got drunk, had stupid argument about marine life/religion" except when it meant "Fed ducks, bitched about job." Crowley has to write his report on what he's been doing. Aziraphale helps. Sort of. Lots of funny bits and pieces that had me giggling like mad. Including Crowley's mention of what the report is usually written with. Oh, and: "I believe the first was 'Encountered demon. Wily serpent lunged at me, kept fiend at bay for fortnight.'" He neglected to mention the smiley face he'd placed at the end of the sentence.
- Good Omens - Boogie Nights by Louise Lux - And this one was just... somehow so silly and fun that I adored it. One of the great things about characters like Crowley and Aziraphale are that you can set them in so many time periods and it's still entertaining, because they've probably really not changed much at all over that time, so to see Disco!Aziraphale is just... oh, it should make me want to curl up and run away to cry, but instead it leaves me giggling madly and I can't help adoring the fic. Great use of the '70s, really. Plus, it has lines like: 'I believe you were saying how dreadful my outfit was, although I hardly think you've got room to talk. What are those clothes made of anyway? They look nasty.'
- Good Omens - Cloud Layer by Louise Lux - This entire story is really very nicely written and lovely and all that, but it's this one moment in the middle of it that just blazes out in my mind every time I look back. After chasing Crowley up through the atmosphere, so high that ice is forming on their bodies, something indefinably unsettled about the whole thing, and when Aziraphale finally catches up to him, the sense around Crowley was just... it ached for some reason that I can't quite define, that isn't so easy to put into words, but it was beautiful and somehow disquieting/sad all at the same time, but wonderfully done, the kind where it could have so easily been pretentious, but the mercurial nature of the mood is perfectly done and just... wow. Beautiful imagery, beautiful subtext without being obvious, beautiful mood to the piece all the way around. And a lovely ending. (Light Crowley/Aziraphale?)
- Good Omens - Let it Snow by Louise Lux - Every once in awhile, I kinda like softer, more sweet fic, when it's not too far into saccharine territory, instead where it's just... something that leaves me with a warm sort of smile, leaves me with how I could almost feel the snow and hear the crisp crunch of it under my feet as it still floated down, how quiet the world seems like that, with only just the two of them seeming to be in it... scenes like that really put me in the holiday mood. <3 (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - Innocence and Experience by Louise Lux - He had been determined that he wasn't going to let it bother him. So Aziraphale knew something he didn't. That was just fine. No reason to get competitive about it. But the idea niggled at the back of Crowley's mind. He ignored it as best he could, and he swore to himself that there was no way he was going to ask the angel anything about it. Ever.
- Good Omens - Naked and Unashamed by Louise Lux - I liked this story because it was an interesting take on finding the balance between how angels (and demons, I imagine) are technically sexless beings, but still wanting to gently push Crowley and Aziraphale into a sexual relationship, the idea that they can choose to experience the feelings if they wish. The 'flipping of the switch', so to speak, was nicely done here, the way the author described the feelings sort of welling up in Aziraphale, the way the conversation with Crowley went that could convince Aziraphale to do so in the first place, the way Aziraphale hasn't really experienced this before, yet the attraction there is quite there, and the (light) sex was nice and I quite liked the morning after part. Just how that does offer a new bit of insight into the human condition, just how it does explain quite a lot about them, in its own way. ....wow, that was a terrible rec. Go read the fic anyway. (Crowley/Aziraphale, R-ish content.)
- Good Omens - Aziraphale and Crowley Join a Pottery Evening Class by Daegaer - It's the little bit at the end, when Aziraphale and Crowley are bored after finishing their perfect pots and start playing or just what Crowley is making with his clay on the second night and that the two of them in a pottery class just should not work, but so utterly does, that I love about this story. (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - Going Home by Daegaer - Oh. Well, now I'm torn between this story and "A Blessed Event" for my favorite GO story, because this was damn near perfect. It's a little bit longer (around 50k, though, it just flew by), has a lovely plot, and everything about it is the usual perfect writing from the author. The basic premise is that Aziraphale is recalled back to Heaven and the machinations that result from thereon--Crowley's reaction is utterly perfect, that lovely sort of balance between liking the way things were, but not too far over the line, it's not like he's planning to storm the gates of Heaven and demand Aziraphale back. Plus, the way Crowley treats Aziraphale's replacement is utterly hysterical, there are so many of the usual little GO-style details, and, really, the trouble poor Crowley gets himself into via his own stupidity is brilliant, and just... just... oh, the whole thing was grand to read. (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Good Omens - Good Omens snippet by Ellen Fremedon - This little snippet contains my favorite bit on the whole 'ineffable plan' in any Good Omens fic ever. The whole thing is lovely writing, gorgeous imagery (one of the best uses of Crowley and Aziraphale naked in bed, really), and just so sparklingly them, but it was the bit about Crowley's wandering thoughts when Aziraphale talks about the ineffable plan that I loved so much about this fic. It pains me not to quote, but I don't want to give away any part of this little gem. (Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - Mirrors by Carmarthen - The author's notes of this fic are really what sold me into reading the thing: See, on the Graham Ward cover, Crowley has an earring. And it's dangly and twee. And I don't know about UK earring conventions, but in the US, a guy with an earring in his right ear is usually gay. So, I developed a teensy-weensy obsession with the earring Crowley may or may not have. And thus this ficlet was born, whereupon it met up with the holiday challenge and became vaguely Christmas-y. Very nice writing, the pacing felt just right, the footnote was clever and in-line with the series, and the earring thing was great. My only complaint is that the fic wasn't a bit longer. ^_~ But, it was a nice addition to the holiday mood that I'm slowly sliding into as well. (Very, very light Crowley/Aziraphale, if that.)
- Good Omens - Shattered Glass and Brothers by Snowballjane - I admit, I hesitate a little over these two fics, I'm not sure I am completely sold, but... they also captured my imagination and started wondering about possibilities and Crowley and Heaven and Hell and love and all sorts of other things after reading these two stories. And I'll also admit that they touched a certain part of me that likes to see situations where extreme circustmances force characters to behave a little differently and I liked the way the author used a confrontation between Aziraphale and a hellbeast to bring that about. I also really kinda liked the take on the scene with Raphael's visit and the possibilities that brings up. Then, with "Brothers", I had a lot of fun, the way the little demon that Crowley was watching out for had such a terrible time on earth (the bits about going to school and how awful it was were especially funny) and how it ended... err, yes, I'm being rather vague, but I'm trying not to give too much away. It was an interesting read, these two stories, that got my mind pondering possibilities and wove everything in the story together rather nicely. (Perhaps a little Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - A Fistful of Feathers by Argyle - I was mentioning this earlier and I think it holds true for this fic as well--normally, I don't care much for period pieces, even when flashbacks, with fanfics, it just isn't my thing, but I'll grant two things to this author and these characters. One, I love the title because I quite clearly remember what this fic was about, even after devouring a ton of GO fic this past week. And, two, flashback/period piece stuff actually works for these characters. And this was a charming little fic set in the Old West that really captured the... feel of the setting. But it's also so very much worth reading for Aziraphale's perspective on everything--especially how it's a bit disheartening that Crowley is sleeping through the 19th Century. The whole thing is a fun, charming read. (Crowly/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - Rogues' Gallery by Argyle - And another charming little period piece that was much fun to read just for the interaction between Crowley and Aziraphale in the past, for the way the sense of the era is captured, but not overwhelming the story. It's the little details of the clothing (again, without overwhelming the story) that bring this piece to life, and the detail with the feather... it was just perfectly done to be touching and sweet, but not too much. ....and look! A rec where I didn't use the world "lovely"! :D (Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Good Omens - Salvation by afrai - Aziraphale with a bit of a crisis of faith (well, perhaps not so much faith, exactly, but something very like it) is such a tricky concept to tackle, because he's an angel and it would likely feel very against the grain of the series to go near changing that or his beliefs. But this story handles it in such a way that it's not only believable, it's rather a little bit painful to watch, because it's not all at once, it's a slow build-up to falling apart, to being lost. Crowley's reaction to this is wonderful as well, trying to sort of help... in his demon-like, Crowley-like way and the way Aziraphale reacts to that and how the whole thing turns out... it was a very moving piece that felt very in line with the series and characters, with that same sense of sparkle and charm that they have. ♥ (Crowley/Aziraphale.)
- Prince of Tennis - FearEnd [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Normally, I'm not that fond of this artist's style (it's hard to describe, but I see it fairly often in J-fanart, a certain style of CG, that's almost in the vague direction of gothic, but not quite), but what saves this art for me is that it's not too over the pretentious line, that the artist is actually quite good, and some of her most recent work is getting to be quite good. The colors soften up a bit and the lines get smoother and the details stronger. Anything with all four of the characters (the site focuses on Fuji, Ryoma, Eiji, and Tezuka) is well-worth seeing (there's this blue-themed one that I love and the uber-gay-styled samurai one is GREAT) and the site has some of the better FujiRyo illustrations that I've seen, you can tell how much the artist must like them. Maybe not going to be for everyone, but I enjoyed it, despite it not being my usual thing. <3 And, oh, that Fuji birthday one (the second one down from the top in the gallery) is just heart-warmingly lovely. (Some FujiRyo, some KikuRyo, a little combination of all four characters.)
- Prince of Tennis - Cage [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - meitachi gave me the link to this site, so I steal the rec off her, and am quite glad I did, because there's a handful of really pretty FujiRyo illustrations on this site. The art is a little bit sketch-like and the colors can be a little sketchy as well, but the whole style rather works for the artist, the details are rather nice, and every once in awhile the artist does an illustration that's just really good--like the one of Fuji sleeping in Ryoma's lap, where they're both smiling, and the artist used these beautiful gold-ish colors and these great lines and just... *wibbles* Or the one of the team (in their uniforms) jumping into the pool on a nice, clear day that just looks like so much fun or the ones where Fuji and Ryoma are leaning against each other... all in all, it added up to be a nice site that I enjoyed and definitely a treat for the surprisingly rare FujiRyo. (FujiRyoma.)
- Prince of Tennis - Siegessaule entertainment [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - *flutters* Oh! Right from the very first TezukaFuji illustration on this site, I knew I was going to be over the moon for the site. It's not perfect, but it captures that sense of lovely intimacy and hint of romantic connection that I get so dippy over. ....yeah, that's it. The site appeals to the romantic fangirl in me, the one who likes to see them leaning into each other, leaning against each other, with Tezuka's arms wrapped around Fuji to pull him close, to see Fuji's hands on Tezuka to gently pull him close, to see them lying back in a field together, all with these beautiful, soft, almost glowing colors. It makes me quite happy. ♥ (TezukaFuji.)
- Full Metal Alchemist - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I have a thing for soft, pretty, "gentle" art and this artist has just enough of these lighter, airy illustrations to tap into that fondness of mine. But it's also that she draws adorable cat-eared art, that as she goes along, her Ed gets to be REALLY good--there's one of him smirking, holding out his hands and a white transmutation circle between them that's really good--and even has one really hot Greed illustration that also won me over with the site. There are also a handful of cute comics and, all in all, it was a fun site. (Roy/Ed.)
- Full Metal Alchemist/Fruits Basket - Hazy Moon [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This is going to be a re-rec for the Fruits Basket section (also a change of the URL), but I wanted to re-do it all the way around, so. The Kyou/Tohru illustrations on the site are some of my utter, utter favorites--Kyou is utterly gorgeous, Tohru is sweet and adorable, and the details and colors as the artist progresses... some of them are truly stunning. The one of Kyou and Tohru standing back to back while wearing winter clothes, snow falling around them, sharing the one big scarf is just beautiful, the one of Tohru with reindeer!kitty!Kyou and Santa-hat!mouse!Yuki is brilliant, the Halloween Kyouru one is fantastic, and school/graduating!Kyou and Yuki underneath the sakura trees is gorgeous, one of the most beautiful Furuba fanarts out there, I think. Kyou's face is just... wow. And then there's the Full Metal Alchemist section, which is much smaller, but contained just enough gorgeous work (and that I hope they'll do more) that I had to include it. Ed in glasses and surrounded by books at night is beautiful, the Ed and Al ones are cute, the Roy ones are pretty, but it's the illustration of Roy leaning over Ed, sliding his gloved hand down Ed's open shirt that's just... really quite amazing, the expressions on their faces are fantastic. The site is worth going for that one illustration alone, I think. Beautiful colors, beautiful poses, beautiful art all the way around, I adore this artist. (Some Kyou/Tohru, some Roy/Ed.)
- Full Metal Alchemist/Juuni Kokki - the Knights [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Holy crap, the art on this site is gorgeous, especially the Juuni Kokki stuff. The FMA stuff is all these... light, golden-colored (note quite sepia, but not just pale blonde, either) illustrations that are lovely; my favorite is probably the one from when Ed and Al were young, playing in the river while Winry sat on the dock and Pinako looked on in the distance, it's just... heart-warmingly lovely. The other great one is of Ed, Al, and Winry again, set in a sort of modern-day school around gradutation, sakura blossoms in the background that just looks terrific. And then. And then you have the Juuni Kokki stuff, which took my breath away with how beautiful it is. Each and every one of them is amazing, there's not a single 12K illustration that's not fantastic. The lines, the details, the colors... my favorite might have to be the one of Youko and Keiki and the rabbit (god, Youko's hair and clothes are amazing), but human!Rakushun with the leaf makes me melt, Kouya is just incredible, and the one of Enki and Taiki is gorgeous and adorable and I spaz over the art here. Quite possibly the best 12K fanart site I've seen. (No real warnings/pairings.)
- Naruto - 2co [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - This site really does a fantastic Sasuke and there's a ton of art here. Some of the earlier stuff might not be as well-done, but the more recent stuff is terrific, right down to the surprising amount of detail on the clothes in what look like they could almost be oekaki art. (#170 in the image section is probably my favorite, the pattern on the cloth looks fantastic.) It really is the strength of the clothes and all the positions that the artist puts Sasuke in that are the highlight of this site, one of those sites that's great because you can spend an hour there looking at all the art she's drawn, especially if you like Sasuke at all. (Maybe a little Sasuke/Naruto and Sasuke/Sakura? Though, I don't know that I'd call it romance, it looks more gen-ish to me.)
- Cowboy Bebop - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Oh, I had to rec this site because the Spike chibis were just SO DAMNED CUTE. It might seem a little random, but... damn, if the puppy ears on Spike or the random chibi illustration of him about to dive into his food isn't just so utterly adorable and surprisingly well-drawn that I was won over by the site. It helps that the artist is actually pretty good at the style she's chosen--her lines are smooth and consistent, the colors are good, and chibi!Spike with puppy ears drinking out of a coffee mug with paw prints on it that's literally half the size he is, is OMG SO FREAKING CUTE I WANT TO JUST *HUG* IT. ♥ Oh, and chibi!Vicious in the kiriban gallery playing video games is hysterical, too. And chibi!dancing!Spike and Faye! XD XD XD (No warnings/pairings.)
- Eyeshield 21 - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I love this artist's proper illustrations (versus sketches or oekaki or whatever), they have all this really great detail to them and the Hiruma/Sena ones all seem to have this sort of golden glow about them that should feel off or something, but... instead I wind up going, "Oooh, pretty! *__*" instead. But I also love the oekaki of them sleeping on the couch together, Hiruma oddly relaxed and Sena practically scrunching his face up. XD And the regular gallery is really nice, too--what I love most about the artist's style is that she uses a lot of colors, to really give the images a rich feel, especially when you look at their hair, which have all these great highlights in them. Oh, and also that the artist manages to retain that Eyeshield 21 sense of humor that amuses me so much. And! And! Really nicely drawn and shaded comics, too! Hiruma looks great in them, such good lines for him. *__* So much art on this site that just made me burbble happily and glow, especially the Hiruma/Sena kisses stuff. ♥ (Hiruma/Sena.)
- Gankutsuou - EMPTYYARD [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I really like a site that has a lot of art on it when it comes to Gankutsuou and this site certainly seems to have been cranking the art out lately, which pleases me a lot since it's really solid stuff. The details on the count are good, the poses and styles and clothes all fitting with the series and that all the characters in the series seem to be represented here. Or at least the major ones--and it's really fun to see a lot of Haydee fanart tucked away into various corners of the site. And there are even a couple of Count/Mercedes illustrations that are lovely, a couple of ones of Albert and the Count that I swooned a little over, but mostly it's that... there're a LOT of Monte Cristo images on the site, that capture all these little facets about him and remind me of just why I've fallen so hard for this series. I adored this site a lot and hope to see lots more from it. (Whatever you saw in the show, you'll probably see here.)
- Gankutsuou - Letter from the Earth [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Admittedly, there are only four or five Gankutsuou illustrations on this site right now, but I was impressed enough (and wanting to see more of the artist's work) that I had to rec the site, if only so that I'll remember to go back and see the site again. As the artist goes along, even already you can see how much she's progressing and the current top one of the count tipping his hat looks great. (Err, a little shounen ai, but I'm not sure it's all that serious?)
- Samurai Champloo/Samurai 7/Gankutsuou - Or.Go [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - It took me forever to figure this site out, but finally, finally I found the Samurai 7 fanart! I've been itching to see more of this series and to see some fanworks for it, so finding art that's actually quite well-done was a nice bonus. It's not my usual stuff, not my usual pairings (I forget their names, but Kyuuzo and the dark-haired one that works for Ukyou's father and Ukyou as well), but it's genuinely good stuff and I'm much more relaxed with fanart. There's also a couple of really excellent ones with the other characters, just really nailing the style of Samurai 7, right down to the lines and colors and feel of the series. And, oh, how I'm taken with some of the Samurai Champloo art the artist has done--child!Jin is beautiful and some of the themed stuff is wonderful (I especially like when Jin leans over to kiss Mugen), and the comics are fun. There's not as much Gankutsuou fanart as I would like, but the two that were there are fantastic; rich with detail and capturing that patterned style of the anime and... oh, okay, the one Count/Albert one, where Albert is unconscious in his arms while the Count smirks and has bat-wings totally made my night. XD XD XD Really talented artist and some really good illustrations to comb through here. (Lots of Samurai 7 shounen ai, along with Jin/Mugen, and maybe a little Count/Albert.)
- Harry Potter - Sisters Of Franders [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Ooh, this site was much fun, especially the further and further I got into the artist's gallery, because her art tightens up when you get to her later stuff. She has a sort of clean, well-colored CG style that I really like when it's well-done--and that current top illustration of Sirius in chains sitting back to back with Remus surrounded by wanted posters is VERY nice. ♥ But it's also the comics that are really well-drawn, you can see the discipline her lines have in a lot of them, you can really get a feel for how clean the art is, how soft and pretty the colors are, and how much fun it is--because Remus trying to wash a muddy Padfoot is the most adorable thing I've seen in awhile. :D Oh, and I really adore the Marauders-era stuff so much (especially the one of Sirius and Remus out at night with the owl) and, oh! Oh! PoA!Sirius grabbing a bite of chocolate before leaning over to kiss Remus made me squee. This site put me closer back towards my happy place with HP. XD (Some light Sirius/Remus.)
- Harry Potter - LOVEWOLF [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - The art on this site can appear to be deceptively simple at first, but somehow... that works for a series like HP for me. The illustrations sort of wound up being a little like from a storybook or sketches that just bring a whole scenario to life--you look at the Marauders handing over a cake for Remus' birthday and you just know that you could build a whole scene around that image. You look at Padfoot standing outside Remus' door as he's coming home and about to go inside and you could build a whole scene around that image. And they really sort of captured the feel of the series for me, despite the simplicity of the art. Plus. You know. Maruaders-era stuff. That makes me all fluttery. (I don't know that there's really any pairing themes? But I could read into it, if I liked.)
- Harry Potter - Happy Family [ Russian (?) Fanart Site ] - This site was such a surprising treat to find, because the lineart of it and the colors are the kind that are just... really good. Some of the illustrations just have a tremendous amount of detail, especially around the characters' hair and eyes, and then toss in some beautiful shading and these warm, lovely colors and... I squee pretty badly. James especially looks good (there's one of him with his eyes closed and shirt open that's just hot. There's also an adorable Halloween one that makes him look gorgeous. And, oh, when James and Sirius next next to each other.... *fans self* The puppylove ones are just heart-warming, the James/Snape ones are amazingly gorgeous, there're a couple of Remus that are utterly beautiful, and there were so many I would love to shove directly at people that it borders on painful. Really, really good site. ....and don't let the James/Snape thing stop you because they're REALLY beautiful images. Plus, the site is totally worth going for hot!James and hot!Sirius. ♥ (James/Snape and Sirius/Remus.)
- Harry Potter - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I admit, it took a little while for me to warm up to this site, but I eventually did because, hell, like I can resist cute Sirius/Remus art. Though, actually, I think it was the artist's take on James that pushed me over more than anything else, because she really drew him rather nicely. And then I hit the really nice illustration of Peter and then the really cute James/Lily stuff and then the very nice Sirius/Remus kisses and I was completely won over. The style is that usual simple, clean CG style that I can so often be fond of and while it starts out a little shakey, it does get better and the newer stuff is very pretty Mauraders-era stuff that makes me so burblingly happy. I wish I could do a better description of the site because I think it's worth checking out, it certainly helped further me getting back to my happy HP place. ♥ (Some James/Lily, mostly Sirius/Remus.)
- Harry Potter - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - Not all of the art on this site was to my cup of tea (often the proportions would be off or it just wouldn't be my style of art or whatever), but when the artist hit the kind of stuff I liked? It was cool. Sirius and Remus sharing chocolate, naked Remus with wolf eyes and a predatory expression on his face while crawling forward with the words "Full Moon Night" on it (which, by the way, I think was my favorite illustration on the site because it was so effective and cool), a 'the next morning' illustration where they're late and scrambling to pull on their pants as fast as they can while looking extremely panicky, chibis building a snowman (holy crap, their clothes were SO FREAKING CUTE), Lily with baby Harry, a couple of gorgeous, goreous PoA!Sirius illustrations, really lovely group stuff... all of those were worth going to the site for and I really just enjoyed the site. (Sirius/Remus, a little James/Lily as well.)
- Harry Potter/Full Metal Alchemist - [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - *happy purr* Oh, this is more of the fun stuff when it comes to HP fanart, this artist's current stuff, what with the lovely shading and soft, glowy colors, and the lovely details--there are several illustrations on the site that make me want to flutter around the room a bit, like Maruaders-era!Sirius and Remus wrapped up in their cloaks and sitting outside or Remus and Padfoot (there are at least three on the site that I adored) or whatever else have you. The earlier stuff is a bit rough, but her current work is lovely and I'd love to see more from the artist. Now, the FMA stuff I am in love with, because the lines and shading and colors are so pretty, because the details are fantastic, the poses fantastic, and it's just... really GOOD art. These ones start out good and just get better and better, I love some of the current stuff--like Ed lying on the roof with Black Hayate on his chest while Roy watches in the background or Roy and Ed under a pile of cats--their faces especially look beautiful. *fangirls* (Maybe a little Sirius/Remus, Roy/Ed.)
Series:
Probably to stab him, Aziraphale considered. That was how the humans did it. After some speculation, he decided not to.
One thing I wondered about was the timeline of this piece, given that Aziraphale and Crowley seemed to still not know each other all that well when I would have thought they'd be slightly more friendly, but that was lost in the sharp lines this story had, the solid writing, and the well-written nature of the scenes. Something like Oscar Wilde cameo'ing in the fic could have been so awkward or cliche, but I found it fitting with the way the story was strolling along. Lots of little moments in this story that I really adored, making it just a fun read. (....I don't know. It could be slash, it could be gen. It's hard to tell with GO.)- Good Omens - The First Day of the Rest of Your Life by Janie - Oh, I really liked the author's take on Adam and Eve here, the way they interacted, the way Adam would explain so many things to Eve, the way Crawly watched them, his reactions to them, the way he talked to Eve, the way it all ended, the way everything just sort of felt... very much in the spirit of Good Omens.
"'Wily serpent?' I thought we agreed that I got to be crafty."
Just a charming little fic that had me giggling the entire time through it. (Err, maybe a little Crowley/Aziraphale? It's... well, GO fic.)- Good Omens - Boogie Nights by Louise Lux - And this one was just... somehow so silly and fun that I adored it.
Crowley preened.
'It's called polyester. I came up with it years ago, and it’s really caught on. It's scratchy, sweaty, thoroughly unpleasant to wear and wildly popular. Aren't humans great?'
(No real warnings/pairings.)- Good Omens - Cloud Layer by Louise Lux - This entire story is really very nicely written and lovely and all that, but it's this one moment in the middle of it that just blazes out in my mind every time I look back.
Ever.
'So, Aziraphale,' Crowley enunciated with great concentration, interrupting the angel's long and rambling story about some boring book or other, 'have you done it recently?'
This was an interesting take on the whole 'first time' thing, woven together nicely with Aziraphale's past (which was nice that it wasn't really all that much, because it's hard to imagine that he would ^_~), Crowley's curiosity, Aziraphale's hesitation, both of them not really quite knowing what they're doing, but finding some sort of way to go with the whole thing so that it ends up in that sort of place where... everything's all right, no real complaints, it's quite nice, actually. Those kinds of endings always leave me with a sense of that it fits with the GO-verse. (Crowley/Aziraphale, R-ish content.)- Good Omens - Naked and Unashamed by Louise Lux - I liked this story because it was an interesting take on finding the balance between how angels (and demons, I imagine) are technically sexless beings, but still wanting to gently push Crowley and Aziraphale into a sexual relationship, the idea that they can choose to experience the feelings if they wish.
