- Death Note - Reminiscent by keraha - This is only a short little fic (100 words), but I had to, because it's one of those that's just... when I got to the end, my only reaction was, "....WOW." It is a brilliant fit with Death Note. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Sailor Moon - Fatherly Concerns by Corina "Mako" Borsuk - I don't know what posessed me to read this story (I was looking for DCU fic and happened to stumble over this author), but it was probably enough that the author mentioned Mamoru's name in the summary. ^_~ And it was a nice, sweet fic about Chibi-Usa's birth and Mamoru's worries over whether or not he'll be a good father to her, because it's not the same as when they got to know Chibi-Usa previously, now he was her father, and it's not like he had a lot of loving experiences to draw on. The writing is lovely, Mamoru's worries are lovely without being overbearing or overly angsty, and Usagi's influences on him are wonderfully done. Just one of those stories that really captured the feel of Sailor Moon, for me. ♥ (A little UsaMamo, but the focus isn't on that.)

- Good Omens - several ficlets by Sam Vimes - It was the fourth one of these drabbles that got me to officially cave and just sparke like mad/crack the hell up, because that one was just so damned perfect for the Christmas season. ♥ But all of them are a treat to read, wonderful writing, sparkling characterization, and that edge of truly clever that all the best Good Omens fic seems to have. Plus, the bit about the apples? Hilarious. (No real warnings/pairings.)

- X - Happy Families by insaneidiot - Kelsey's fault. All Kelsey's fault. She was kind enough to mention it and thus I had to steal the link off her, because this story was just... I got about a third of the way into it and then promptly could not stop laughing. It's one of those stories that's just beautifully on crack and an utterly brilliantly enjoyable pardoy fic--it's one of those that could have been really bad (Seishirou as Kamui's father is one of those older fandom theories floating around and could have been so terribly cliche or awkwardly done), but the writing is smooth and clean enough to pull it off and... hell, even more than that, it's the comedic timing that sent me into fits of laughter, every time Seishirou smugly laid down a new rule for Kamui or Subaru went to bang his head against the wall at the ridiculousness of everything or every time Fuuma had a fit because Seishirou was putting his "family" first. Just... heeheeheeheeheehee. Makes me laugh just thinking about it again. (Seishirou/Subaru, Fuuma/Kamui.)

- Weiss Kreuz - Sozialinteraktion by tosca's kiss - I've been on something of a WK kick tonight and this was one of those fics that just... I missed this kind of fic. The kind with really good writing, sharp characterization that's not overdone or cliche, and a genuinely clever concept. I have such mad love for Schuldich when he's like this, I have such mad love for Schwarz interactions, I love that there were just enough deft Japanese culture details in the fic to really bring it to live, and the pay-off at the end? Fantastic. I'm still laughing. (No warnings/pairings.)

- Weiss Kreuz - History - A story in drabbles by Lady Bast - Oh, this was just... this is what I love getting out of RanKen every so often. The nine 100-word drabbles here are used very effectively to tell a story that spans the WK timeline, from Assassin and White Shaman to Kapital to the drama CDs to Side B, each scene showcasing a particular moment that's heartbreaking in a different way but also showing the progression of their relationship. It's not easy, it's not kind, it hurts like hell, but it's not overdone, the ache felt so much more genuine to me here. The OAV (Verbrechen & Strafe) drabble was a particularily hard hit and the more I think about it, the more it really is a very insightful little piece. I love, love, love that it didn't ignore the darker sides of Weiss Kreuz, but that it didn't turn them into cliches, either. Really good RanKen, I thought. (Aya/Ken.)

- Saiyuki - Suddenly Subtext by Harukami - There are few fics I will used the "screaming with laughter" description for, but I think I may just have to break that particular one out for this fic, because... just... oh, god, every time I try to think of the words to describe it, I break down into hysterical laughter again. Because if this ever happened in the Saiyuki universe? WOULD SO HAPPEN JUST LIKE THIS. Plus, Haru's writing and timing are utterly perfect for this fic and... oh, god, poor Gojyo, but this is quite possibly one of the best/funniest Saiyuki fics I've ever read. Brilliant. (....well, I wouldn't say there were any pairings, at least. XD)

- Juuni Kokki/Digimon/Full Metal Alchemist - oresame game [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - One of the first things to catch my eye about this site was the OMG CUTE LITTLE 12K SPRITES EEEEEE YAY! But what really won me over with the site were the oekaki-like illustrations that had a surprising amount of detail to them and a lot of them were just really cool. Or adorably cute, like chibi Enki cuddling with chibi Taiki under a tree. Or school!Al and Ed... with Al in his school uniform while still in armor form. >D Or an absolutely adorable one of the Hughes family that I totally wibbled over. Or bored!Youko doodling on a scrool that has Keiki twitching in annoyance and a fiery aura of DOOM in the background. Or warmly colored Harry Potter illustrations of the main trio that somehow fit the book's style so well. (My favorite was probably the Marauders-era one, though. Or possibly the trio one where they decorate Snape like a Christmas tree. That was hysterical.) Or absolutely adorable group Digimon illustrations. (I think the one of Mimi and Lirimon was my favorite, it was just... perfectly colored and detailed and the feel was right for them.) Pretty much any series that this artist tackles, she does wonderfully well, each batch of illustrations is a *treat* to go through. *sparkles* (No real warnings/pairings, I don't think? Maybe some hints, but not enough to warn for.)

- Kyou Kara Maou - [s*p] [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - *fangirls* I love the... it's not quite a simple style, it's too detailed and nicely colored for that, but it evokes a certain sort of... happy, WAFFy feeling with me when I look at the artist's work. Well, that and the squee'ing over the Konrad/Yuuri bathtub illustration. BATHTUB EEEEEEEE. >D But there are also a couple of cute hug-type illustrations, a really nice colored Wolfram sketch and OEKAKI BOARD REALLY GOOD. I loved the more recent oekaki stuff, especially Wolfram and Yuuri in those cute hats. Oh, oh! And the clappy thinger! The one with the five illustrations of the main characters in glasses! The site was totally worth checking out for those. Adored this site so much, loved the soft, warm colors, and the feeling of warmth of them. ♥ (Mostly Konrad/Yuuri, a little other.)

- Kyou Kara Maou - 1-3 [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - I had a very strong suspicion, right from the current top illustration (which is Konrad and Yuuri in fantasy-style military outfits), that I would like this site a lot and I was happily right about that~ The art can be a little sketchy at times, but I found that that often times worked well for the artist, added a certain sense of style to the images, but it was really the very nice use of colors and strong details that are the artist's strong points, I think. She does a fantastic Wolfram (The one of him in the cute bear-hat with the big stuffed bear behind him is probably the best Wolfram one on the site and I loved it. XD) and can do a gorgeous Konrad (The one of him in the baseball-ish clothes and mitt? NICE.). But it was also the oekaki boards that further helped to win me over, because there were just some really cute illustrations tucked away in there, if you like oekaki stuff. (The more I go along with J-fanart, the more I become fond of oekaki art, sort of like candy.) Well, and of course I went all fluttery over the pairing stuff--I thought it was really kinda neat that they had two oekaki boards, one for Konrad/Yuuri and one for Yuuri/Wolfram, so whichever one you liked, you got a fix of it. ♥ (Konrad/Yuuri and Yuuri/Wolfram, but a lot of gen, too.)

- Kyou Kara Maou - chiki pop [ Japanese Fanart Site ] - There's something about this site that I really fell in love with, a lot of which is that many of the illustrations aren't just cute or adorable or nice, they're good. The first one of Wolfram is very well drawn, from the lines and proportions to the details and the colors, but it also doesn't hurt my feelings that the artist seems to be fond of Konrad/Yuuri as well. The one of Yuuri's arms around Konrad, while Konrad supports him as he leans back? Swoon. It's beautiful and absolutely the reason I keep searching through MaruMa fanart sites. I also liked wind-blown!protective!Konrad/Yuuri and even I have to admit that the one of Wolfram kissing Yuuri's neck in bed was very nicely drawn. One of the better sites out there, I think, with a handful of art that's honestly impressive. (Konrad/Yuuri, Wolfram/Yuuri, maybe a little other shounen ai.)
