- Prince of Tennis - Habit by Pout - (Again, I believe I steal a rec off tin, who I have no idea how she finds all this fabulous stuff! *__*) This was just... there is never enough AkuTaka in the world, much less the kind that vaguely hurts, yet makes me feel happy because I can just feel that sense of tension/attraction/connection/whatever there. This fic's harder edges were wonderful, that Akutsu never stayed, how much it hurt Taka-san but how Taka-san always forgave in that way that's just straight out of the series itself. It's hard to explain, but with the best AkuTaka writers, there's sort of a... faint knot in my stomach as I read, because it's never soft or pretty, and this was a fantastic example of that. Plus, the ending was just... *long sigh* everything it needed to be. Loved this. (AkuTaka.)
- Prince of Tennis - Difficult by Cairnsy - This was an interesting Prince of Tennis fic and something I... I don't know that I was completely onboard with (which is entirely likely because I'm so very set in my own views of the character by this point--though, I thought Tezuka's view of those around him in Germany was particularily right on the mark), but enjoyed thoroughly because the writing was fantastic and it was gen fic. Gen Tezuka fic. That's deftly written, with real power to the words. Do you know how long I've wanted that? It explores Tezuka's balance between giving his all to tennis and being a regular person who misses his friends while in Germany, making my little fangirl heart go pitter-pat for the whole Seigaku team feel that it had. (No warnings/pairings.)
- Gravitation - Bound by TheNeme - Funny little Gravi fic where Tatsuha gets into a mess and has to explain himself to Yuki. Sort of. Yuki doesn't really want to know that badly. Don't let the slight S&M tone to the fic stop you (it's very mild, honest), it's silly and funny enough to be a delightful read, the writing is lovely, and it's the ending that made me grin like mad. (Errr. Shounen ai, but. Mostly it's Uesugi brothers interaction.)
- Cowboy Bebop - Cowboy Bebop: The Mega-Happy Ending by Marigold Futura - Even I (who has 6 episodes of the series left to go) have watched enough of the series and read enough of the fic to find this hysterically funny. It's one of those vaguely meta stories that's perfectly done, just the right sense of humor and timing and pacing so that it ends up being an enjoyable little ride and never really lags anywhere in it. Plus? Much, much with the funny. (A little Spike/Faye, but parody, so.)
- Eyeshield 21 - Manic Sunday by Virgo - ES21 fic, which is something I wouldn't have thought would have ever existed. Much less ES21 fic that made me laugh because of the way it captured poor, poor Sena's manic days and just the general batshit antics of the manga so well. One of those off-the-wall fics with a good old ES21-style chase that made me quite pleased to see this. (No warnings/pairings.)
- DCU/Batman/JLA - Building Bridges by Neptune - I realize that I may be giving favoritism points to this story because... well, this is almost exactly like something that I would want to write myself. The Bruce/Diana hints, playing with the Bruce - Dick issues, having Dick and Diana interact... this is all the kind of stuff I go for, only without the work of having to write it myself! ^_~ Now, perhaps I enjoyed it so thoroughly because it was hitting my buttons so hard or perhaps not, but either way... there was a lot I really, honestly enjoyed about this story. I liked that there was a plot, I liked that the author had fight scenes, I liked the basic tone and pacing of the story. But I had to rec the story for the Nightwing/Wonder Woman interaction, which made me all wriggly happy. I. Want. The. Next. Part. Of. This. One. (Faint Bruce/Diana hints, but more gen than anything.)
